Betty Marie Carr Hebb

Betty Marie Carr Hebb, 72, of Greencastle, Pa., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at her home. Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown.

Memorial Service held at a later date.

Patsy Lee Kaufman
March 24, 1934 - November 28, 2010

Patsy Lee Kaufman, 76, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 24, 1934, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Chester H. and Ruth (Gift) Weddle.

Mrs. Kaufman was an LPN, having worked at Washington County Hospital and retiring after 17 years of service from Avalon Manor Nursing Home. She then worked as a sorter at Hagerstown Rescue Mission.

She was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Kaufman and fiancee Jennifer Leatherman of Frederick, and John Kaufman and fiancee Casey Edelen of Fayetteville, Pa.; three daughters, Debra Russ of Hagerstown, Ruth Reigh and husband Thomas of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Sharon Kaufman of Hagerstown; three sisters, Janet Shillingberg and Delores Weddle, both of Hagerstown, and Alice Snodderly of Funkstown; one brother, Sonny Weddle of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Kaufman.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Jay Fretz officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour before services.

Ruth I. Rickett
May 4, 1958 - November 27, 2010

Ruth I. (Shrader) Rickett, 52, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 4, 1958, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Betty J. (Malott) Shrader of Hagerstown.

She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

Ruth worked at Washington County Hospital for 18 years.

She was a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, Kenneth E. Rickett; a daughter, Melissha B. Vaughn and fiance Tater "TATOR" Russ; two sons, Merle R. Vaughn III and Christopher M.A. Reese, all of Hagerstown; four sisters, Debra J. Rogers of Williamsport, Md., and Betty "Elizabeth" Shrader, Christie L. Pleasant and Michele M. Gladhill, all of Hagerstown; a brother, Roy A. Shrader of Hampton, Va.; five grandchildren, Alexcia I. Russ, Aaliyah M. Russ, Amiya R. Russ, Sierra K. Vaughn and Taylor B. Vaughn; nine nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Evangel Baptist Church, 17922 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740 with Pastor Ronald Faith officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

MRS. MARY A. HULL

Mrs. Mary A., widow of Leander Hull, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Lucabaugh, near this city, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. Tilden Shaeffer, Wilkens avenue, Baltimore, on Monday, October 20th, 1922, of heart failure after a short illness, aged 49 years, 5 months and 11 days. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Shaeffer, at whose home she died, and Mrs. Irvin Hunter, near this city, and two sons, Jesse, of Cranberry Valley and Louis Hull, of the old homestead, Lucabaugh's Mills, near Cranberry Station, one brother, Wm. T. Lucabaugh and other relatives. The funeral services were held at her late residence in Baltimore Thursday morning and then the body was brought to Krider's Reformed Church of which she was a member and after funeral services by Rev. J. W. Reitecke, interred in the family lot in the adjoining cemetery. Many friends and relatives attended the funeral. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers.

Charles Carter Putnam

Charles Carter Putnam, 91, of Sykesville, died Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Dove House from an extended illness.

Born September 22, 1919 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Arthur and Edna Crist Putnam. He was the husband of the late Helen Crismer Putnam who died on June 7, 2010. They had been married for 71 years.

He had retired as the Director for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. He wrote the original Medicaid program for the State of Maryland. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He enjoyed collecting antiques and nautical items and watching sports on television.

He is survived by a daughter Jo Ann Bardeen, granddaughters Michelle Norris and Karen Harris, grand son in law Dennis Norris, great grandchildren Karen Ranier and husband Joshua and Denny Norris.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-7 PM PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home , 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg. A funeral service will be held Thursday, 7:00 PM at the funeral home with the Pastor Mindy Coates officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery at a later date. Sympathy’s may be expressed in the form of contributions to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.

Homer Kyle Livesay

Homer Kyle Livesay, 73, of Sykesville, died Tuesday September 6, 2011 at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born June 2, 1938 in Black Water, VA, he was the son of the late Dewey and Addie Collinsworth Livesay. He was the husband of Laura Nadine Livesay. They had been married for 54 years.

He had retired from the Carroll County Board of Education as the building supervisor at Piney Ridge Elementary School. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting, watching sports, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Sharon Missionary Babptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Terry Livesay and wife Rebecca of Mt. Airy, daughter Debra Livesay of Baltimore, son Jeff Livesay of Sykesville, daughter Angie Seal and fiancé Hank George of Westminster, sister Lochield Garretson and husband Dean of Morristown, TN and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Jess, Robert, Evan, Calvin, Carl, Luther, Albert and Bill Livesay.

The family will receive friends Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 AM at the Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, 2145 Mckendree Road, West Friendship, MD 21794-9736. Internment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers sympathy’s may be expressed in the form of contributions to the Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.

Anthony Augustus Fig Bright, Sr.

Anthony Augustus ‘Fig’ Bright, Sr., 54, of Eldersburg, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his home from an extended illness.

Born December 22, 1957 in Glenwood, Maryland, he was the son of Richard Bright, Sr. and Sara Smith Green.

He had been employed as a truck driver with M.T. Laney Company, Inc.

He enjoyed social events and riding motorcycles. He was a member of The Back in the Day Motorcycle Club.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by daughter Tyra Williams and husband Shawn, sons Anthony A. Bright, II, Jason Bright and wife Tara and James Welch. He is also survived by sister Isabell Kelly, brothers Richard Bright, Jr., Joseph Bright and wife Linda, Clifford and Timothy Neal; grandchildren Kylie and Elijah Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Cheryl Young and step-father James Green. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:30 AM at the Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Rd., Sykesville, Maryland 21784. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD, and from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Anthony Fig Bright, Sr. Memorial Ride. Make checks payable to Jason Bright.

Helen Coleman

Helen Coleman, 81, of Sykesville, formerly of Glen Burnie, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born June 11, 1931, in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roman and Antoinette Garan. She was the wife of Michael Joseph Coleman Jr., her husband of 47 years, who died in 1996.

She was a homemaker and had also worked as a packager for Rock Tenn Company.

She enjoyed helping others who were unable to do for themselves. She was the “go to” person for help or for running errands at Park View Senior Citizen Apartments in Glen Burnie. She enjoyed bingo, shopping, making crafts, cooking, watching her soap “Days for Our Lives” and her cat Chi-Chi.

She was known to make people feel welcome and at home.

Surviving are sons Michael Joseph Coleman III, Daniel Raymond Coleman Sr., and Ronald Mitchell Coleman; a daughter, Sharlene Michele Spahr; brothers Stanley and Edward Garan; grandchildren James Minter Jr., Jason Minter, John Minter, Anna Jones, Teresa Garber, Christina Tano, Roni Coleman, Daniel Coleman Jr., Steven Coleman , Darryl Coleman, Shawn Coleman, Amy Coleman, Alison Coleman, and Steven Beard Sr.; and great-grandchildren Brianna Minter, James Minter III, Johannah Minter, Ariana Minter, Addilyn Minter, Darryl Coleman Jr., Donavan Coleman, Kenneth Coleman, Angelica Coleman, Kaitlin Coleman, Gabriella Coleman, Nicholas Coleman, Benjamin Jones, Tristina Jones, Brian Garber, Mercedes Beard, Celeste Beard, Trinity Beard, and Steven Beard Jr.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Saundra Leah Wright; and a brother, Walter Garan.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Pumphrey officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice's Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.

Edward M. Budelis

Edward M. Budelis, 85, of Eldersburg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

Born November 23, 1926, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph and Magdalena Sakavicius Budelis. He was the husband of Anne T. Budelis. They had been married for 61 years.

He had taught in Baltimore County high schools for over 27 years. He was a U.S. ArmyVeteran serving in Europe during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post # 223 in Sykesville. He enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. He was the last of his immediate family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Mary B. Kerney and husband Jay, Adele B. Sadosky and husband Chet, Monica A. Dailey and husband Terry, sons Andrew M. Budelis and wife Susan and Joseph A. Budelis. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by infant son Edward Budelis who died September 23, 1953, two brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 9:30 AM at St Alphonsus Church, Interment will follow in Baltimore National cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to the St. Alphonsus Restoration Fund, 114 W. Saratoga St., Baltimore, MD 21201.

Conley Clayton Price
Born: Fri Jul 24, 1931 - Died: Fri Mar 15, 2013

Conley Clayton Price, 81, of Reisterstown, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Transitions Nursing Home.

Born July 24, 1931 in Bristol, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Sherman and Alice Reed Price. He was the husband of Nancy Lee Price. They had been married for 59 years.

He had retired from G. Edgar Harr & Sons as a Master Well Driller. He enjoyed bluegrass music and participating in family sing alongs. He also enjoyed fishing at Liberty and Prettyboy Reservoirs, finishing antique furniture and spending time with his family, friends and his dog Daisy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ronnie C. Price and Cathy, daughters and sons-in-law Darlene Hollman and Glenn and Brenda L. Teddar and Wayne. He is also survived by sister Ruth Wade, brother Lacy Price, seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Melissa Rudolph officiating. Internment will be in Emory Church cemetery.

Pauline Beckham (Wager) Robey
Born: Fri May 20, 1921 - Died: Wed Mar 27, 2013

Pauline Beckham Robey, 91, of Stafford, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at her home.

Born May 20, 1921 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Jeb Stuart and Hallie Armstrong Wager.

She enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She also enjoyed the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. She was a faithful parishioner at St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Parish.

She is survived by daughter Joyce Bennett, son and daughter-in-law Gary Robey and Betty, daughter and son-in-law Debbie Samek and Ron, sister Laura Kimmel and grandchildren Shannon Allen, Kelly Upton, Peter Robey, Ben Sellman, Kim Thau and Jackie and Robin Samek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 11:00 AM at St Alphonsus Rodriguez Parish, 10800 Old Court Rd Woodstock, MD 21163. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. . The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg are handling funeral arrangements.

Arres William Summerfield
Born: Fri Oct 1, 1943 - Died: Wed Apr 3, 2013

Arres William Summerfield, 69, of Sykesville, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2013 at the Carroll Dove House. He is survived by his wife Diana Mae Summerfield and their three children, his sons Kevin and Glenn, whose grand children include Gabriel, Lotta and Katarina, as well as his daughter Donna Sommers, whose grand children include Morgan and Kyle.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 7:30 PM, at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Internment will be at the convenience of the family.

Mary Dell (Dix) Wickham
Born: Sun Jul 31, 1938 - Died: Tue Feb 5, 2013

Mary Dell Wickham, 74, of Eldersburg, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Carroll Lutheran Village following an extended illness.

Born March 25, 1938 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late P. Harvey and Mildred B. Dix. She was the wife of Robert Davis Wickham. They had been married for over 53 years.

Mary Dell graduated from Milford Mill High School in 1955 and from Towson State Teachers College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She then began her life of adventure and world travel when she married Robert “Bob” Wickham who is now retired from the United States Air Force. After a career of teaching kindergarten for the Department of Defense, she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business named the Dixie Horse and other businesses such as Champion Printing and the Rouse Company. After retiring, she devoted her time to the family, community service and traveling the country with her husband.. She was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church for over 35 years. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a service organization. In 1986 she joined the Freedom District Lioness Club, Freedom District Lions Club and later the South Carroll Lioness Lions Club. In 2001 she earned one of the Lions Club International’s highest honors when she received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for humanitarian service.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Mary Ellen Wickham of Eldersburg, son Robert David Wickham and wife Jennifer of Hanover, PA, son Matthew James Wickham and his wife Masami of Belleville, IL. She is also survived by sister Margaret V. LeVee and husband Guy, Ann D. Filbey and husband Gordon and sister-in-law Alyce Wickham. Also surviving are grandchildren Sean, Marie and Austin Wickham, 5 nieces, 2 nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law William J. Wickham.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Road. Eldersburg, MD with her pastors, Rev. Dr. William Brown and Rev. Bonnie Scott, officiating. Internment will be in Wesley Freedom cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD where a Lions Club Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784 or to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
