Kenneth Sterling McCawley
Born: Sun., Nov. 4, 1923 - Died: Sun., Oct. 5, 2014

Kenneth S. McCawley, Sr., 90, of Sykesville, affectionately known by friends and family as Mr. Kenny, Dad and Pop Pop, joined his beloved daughter and wife in eternal life on October 5, 2014. With his passing, the world loses a veteran World War II Army Medic and gains a guardian angel. After returning from the war, Ken delivered milk to the doorsteps of Baltimore City as a milkman for Cloverland Dairy. In retirement, he was an avid woodworker. Ken was ever poised to help those in need and equally as eager to cause mischief at the expense of others.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra McCawley and her husband Stan Johnson; his son, Kenneth McCawley, Jr and his wife Cindy; his son-in-law, Jerry Griswold; his grandchildren, Marcus Griswold and wife Ann; Kenneth, Kaitlin, and Kristen McCawley; and his great-grandchildren, Leif and Kai Griswold. In crossing over, he is reunited with his oldest daughter, Jackie Griswold; his wife, Emma McCawley; his brother, Robert McCawley ; and his mother, Katie McCawley.

The family will receive friends Friday, 9-11 AM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Jen Glover officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park.

Ernestine Burnett (Burnett) Pittinger
Born: Thu., Oct. 7, 1920 - Died: Mon., Jul. 28, 2014

Ernestine Burnett ‘Sis’ Pittinger, 93, of Sykesville, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at Ridge Overlook Assisted Living.

Born October 7, 1920 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lillian Lewin Walther. She was the wife of the late George Edward Pittinger who died January 27, 2010. They had been married for over 69 years.

She graduated from Forest Park High School. She was a devoted wife and proud mother. She had worked at the May Company before she was married . She was a member of St. Stephen’s Reformed Episcopal Church. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening and making her delicious caramels and sugar cookies. She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-laws Peggy and Don Wheatley, Georgia and Rick Long and Nancy Pittinger all of Sykesville, son and daughter-in-law Ernie and Ruthann Pittinger of Winfield, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and niece Harriett Steahly. of Springfield, Illinois. She was preceded in death by sister Phyllis M. Taylor.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen’s Reformed Episcopal Church, 2275 Liberty Road, Sykesville with her pastor Eric Jorgensen, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.

In lieu of flowers, sympathy’s may be expressed in the form of contributions to the St. Stephen’s Reformed Episcopal Church or to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.

Elizabeth Pula (Pula) Anthony
Born: Sat., Dec. 4, 1926 - Died: Wed., Jul. 30, 2014

Elizabeth Pula Anthony, 87, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the home of her daughter Susan.

Born December 4, 1926 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Frances Nowakowska Pula. Twice married , she was the wife of the late Kenneth Mohlhenrich and the late Samuel Anthony.

She had worked for the United States Postal Service and Farmers Home Administration. She enjoyed her family, her Polish heritage, tennis, Baltimore Orioles, picnics, parties, celebrations and all things fun.

She is survived by her three sons Henry Mohlhenrich and companion Paula Schwab, John Mohlhenrich and wife Penny and Karl Mohlhenrich, daughters Susan Rushton and husband James, and Janice Lathrop and husband Mark, stepdaughters Christine Anthony and Betsy Childs, stepsons Sam and Peter Anthony, sister Dorothy Strohecker and husband George and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by siblings Tad, Robert and Edward Pula, Bernice Misoura, Renee Stokowski, Frances Watson, and Peggy Yaverbaum.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 2nd from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. followed by a family gathering for a picnic at the farm pond afterward. Interment will be private. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to the charity of your choice.

Calvin Vernon Buhrman, Jr.
Born: Wed., Jan. 15, 1947 - Died: Sun., Feb. 8, 2015

Calvin Vernon Buhrman, Jr., 68, of Westminster, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born January 15, 1947 in Baltimore he was the son of Sylvia Ferrari Buhrman of Sykesville and the late Calvin Vernon Buhrman, Sr. He was the husband of the late Barbara Buhrman who died December 9, 2009. They had been married for 35 years.

He was a retired defense contractor with the U.S. Government. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and had graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the NRA. He loved going to gun and knife expos. He also loved his family and being outdoors especially golfing, fishing and hunting. He also loved his Brittany Spaniels Gunner and Phantom.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth A. Jenkins and Gary, Jr. He is also survived by grandchildren Cody and Dylan Duvall and Gary Jenkins, III.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 noon at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784. Interment will follow at Garrison Forest Veteran cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Grace Elizabeth (Butler) Koslosky
Born: Sat., May 14, 1932 - Died: Tue., Feb. 17, 2015

Grace Elizabeth Koslosky, 82, of Westminster, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Carroll Dove House.

Born May 14, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Elizabeth Weikert Butler. She was the wife of John M. Koslosky. They were married for 63 years.

She was employed at various places throughout her life, but most recently she was a caregiver with Home Health Care. She taught bible study classes in the Pennsylvania Public School System. She also taught child evangelism in Fulton County, PA. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. More importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons and daughter-in-law John A. Koslosky and Sharon L., Kevin W. Koslosky and Jackie, daughter Joyce L. Codd, daughter and son-in-law Lisa A. Feidler and Ken, brother Robert Butler, grandchildren Keri, Amanda, Michelle, John, Jr., Bryan, Lauren, Matt, Ryan, Katie, Kenny and Ethan. She is also survived by great grandchildren Jonah, Mason, Kinsley, Landon, Savannah, Caleb, Adam, Evan, Jaxson and Jaidyn. She was preceded in death by son-in-law Allen Codd.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4-9 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church, 3200 Ridge Road, Westminster, MD 21157 with her pastor, Steve Kindstedt, officiating. Private interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park.

EllaMae (Simons) Earp
Born: Tue., Jun. 23, 1925 - Died: Tue., Mar. 3, 2015

EllaMae Earp, 89, of Frederick, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born June 23, 1925 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Albert John and Delilah Boss Simons. She was the wife of the late William Hamilton Earp who died on March 9, 1982. They had been married for 33 years.

Prior to her marriage she had worked at the Washington Times-Herald newspaper in Washington, DC. She was very involved in church activities at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Glenwood, MD where she was a member. She loved her girls, her family and friends. She was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Bonnie and Ed Beasley, Jill and Eddie McGrath, grandchildren Lauren Blattenberger, Shane and Shannon McGrath and great granddaughter Ella Grace Blattenberger.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Interment will be private. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 2:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 14135 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood, MD 21738.

Edward W. Krebs
Died: Sat., Mar. 7, 2015

Edward W. Krebs, 93, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Brethren Home in New Oxford, Pennsylvania.

Born November 23, 1921 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Henry and Ella Swan Krebs. He was the husband of the late Helen Krebs who died September 24, 2002. They had been married for 60 years.

He had retired from C&P; Telephone after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II. He had received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action in Italy in 1944. He and his late wife enjoyed camping and were past members of the Baltimore County Campers Association. He was the last of his immediate family.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Robert E. and Deborah Krebs, William and Melody Krebs, grandchildren and their spouses Daniel and Jessica Krebs, Amy and Chris Whited, Julie and Daniel Hansen and Laura and Tim Jackman. He is also survived by great grandchildren Gabriel and Griffin Whited, Luke and Dillon Hansen and Kendall and Emma Jackman. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and one brother.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Khandjian, officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park with military honors.

William James Boyd
Born: Wed., Oct. 15, 1941 - Died: Fri., Mar. 13, 2015

William James Boyd, 73, of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, formerly of Eldersburg, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at the York Hospital.

Born October 15, 1941 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Bruce and Louise Newton Boyd. He was the husband of Janet Grace Boyd. They had been married for 49 years.

Prior to retirement he had worked for Electronic Assoc. as a salesman. He graduated from Poly Tech and had an AA Degree in business. He was a member of the Freedom District Lions Club for 35 years. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow. This is the highest honor one can receive, as a member of the Lions Club, for dedicated humanitarian service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion Post 543 in Red Lion, PA.

He was an active member of Wesley Freedom Church of Eldersburg, for 30 years- serving as usher, trustee, cook and server for events at the church. His faith in God was a deep and enduring part of his being, and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Elizabeth Louise Thompson and husband Chris, son James Alan Boyd and wife Christina, grandchildren Bruce Boyd and Katie and Janet Thompson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Graveside services will be held at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD, Thursday, 12:30 PM with military honors. Pastor Troy Harrold will officiate. Jane Hillen (Burton) Wandel
Born: Tue., Jun. 5, 1923 - Died: Tue., Jan. 20, 2015

Jane Hillen Wandel, 91, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at her residence in the Golden Crest Assisted Living home on Nelson Road, Westminster.

Born June 5th, 1923 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Edna L. Lips Burton. She was the wife of the late Capt. Robert W. Wandel, Sr, USA, who died in 1983. They had been married for 42 years.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Zion United Methodist Church. The last of her immediate family, she is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Robert Wayne Wandel, Jr. and wife Margie, Lawrence Paul (Larry) Wandel and wife Linda, grandchildren: Anne, Laura, Robert III, William, and Brooke, and great-grandchildren: Keith, Abbygail, Abigail, Jacquelyn, Allyson, and Anna and great great granddaughter Dori.

A private graveside service and inurnment was officiated by the Rev. David Carter-Rimbach of Zion United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, 11:00 AM, at the Zion United Methodist Church, 2614-16 Old Washington Road. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Donations in Jane’s memory can be made to the Zion United Methodist Church – Outreach Program, 2714-16 Old Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157.

Felix Frank Grzymala
Born: Sun., Feb. 19, 1933 - Died: Wed., Mar. 18, 2015

Felix Frank Grzymala, 82, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Dove House.

Born February 19, 1933 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John and Bertha Andreasik Grzymala.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired from BP Oil as a pump and tank mechanic.

He is survived by daughters Roseanna Bertel, Teresa Hornbach, sons Frank Grzymala and Felix Grzymala, Jr. He is also survived by sisters Antoinette Gonzalez, Joana Sharply Sercus, Bertha Duket, brothers Stanley Grzymala and Thaddeus Grzymala, grandchildren Amanda Dolehanty, Joshua and Jessica Reese, Frankie, Gisselle and Isabella Grzymala and great grandchildren Corey Stevenson, Zoey Buta and Emerson and Caroline Reese. He was preceded in death by brother Lucas Grzymala.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD. Interment will follow in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery with military honors.

Esther Domeneck (Domeneck) Stansfield

Esther Domeneck Stansfield, 88, of Westminster, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Seasons Hospice in Randallstown.

Born April 9, 1926 in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late Sinencio and Basilia Inglesias Domeneck. She was the wife of the late James Norris ‘Nook’ Stansfield who died January 9, 2002. They had been married for 53 years.

After her birth her family moved to the Bronx where she lived with her father. They lived there until moving to Guilford, Connecticut where she attended and graduated from Guilford High School. She moved to Baltimore in 1945 to work for the State of Maryland. She married her husband James in 1948. In 1964 she began her career in customer relations with Western Electric which then became AT&T.; She retired in 1987 with 23 years of service. She enjoyed going to yard sales, doing puzzles, dancing, entertaining and babysitting. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church.

She is survived by daughter Lynda D. Mullar of Wye Mills, son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey N. Stansfield and Mahala of Westminster, sister Ruby Vera-Cruz of Bradenton, FL, many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
