Thomas Patrick Johnson, 73, of Westminster, died Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Carroll Hospice-Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was born June 15, 1936 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late William H. Johnson and the late Helen C. Johnson (nee Hanson). He was a self-employed Antique Dealer. He was the husband of Brita Lange Johnson of Westminster. He was the father of Bridget Jenkins of Mt. Airy, Niels Johnson of New Market, Kirsten Schaub of Glenville, PA and Lars Johnson of Spring Grove, PA. Also survived by 11 grandchildren. Private Service and interment.

Wilson, John W.
John William Wilson, age 74, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Randallstown, died Monday February 22, 2010 at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, MD. He was born August 1, 1935 in Uniontown, PA the son of the late Evans B. Wilson and the late Elizabeth Fisher Wilson. He was the husband of Carol Jean Wilson (nee Klepp) married June 29, 1963 in Nevada. He was a manager for Social Security Administration for over 35 years retired in 1995. After retirement he dabbled as a real estate agent. He served in the Army from 1958-1960. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed drawing pictures. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and camping. He enjoyed music. He was the father of Paula Lanza and husband Reniery of Westminster, Cynthia A. Covey and husband James of Finksburg, and Jeff Wilson and wife Diane of Spring Grove, PA. He was the brother of Doris Schaeffer of Boise, Idaho, Shirley Balsinger, Evans Wilson and Ruby McKnight all of Uniontown, PA and the late Olive Cooley, late Velma Rahm. and the late Dawn McKnight. Also survived by grandchildren Bradley Wilson and his mother Patricia Wilson of Reisterstown, Victoria and Ryan Lanza both of Westminster and Tyler Covey, Logan Covey, Conner Covey and Brady Covey all of Finksburg. Funeral Service will be held Friday February 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. O.F. “Bud” Kibbe officiating. Interment Wards Chapel U.M. Church cemetery, Randallstown, MD. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA on Thursday From 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: American Diabetes Association, Maryland Office, 800 Wyman Park Drive, 1st floor, Baltimore, MD 21211.

Koteles, Thomas A.
Thomas A. Koteles, 68 of Mt. Airy formerly of Bedford, OH, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Montgomery County General Hospital. Born and raised in Bedford, OH moved to MD 12 years ago. He is survived by loving wife Jerrilynn (Jeri) Loving and Cherished father of Craig and wife Lori Koteles and Amy and Anthony Palladino. Proud and adoring Grandpa of Lucy and George Palladino, Dear Brother of Donna and husband Dean Fletcher and Stephen and wife Barbara Koteles and the late Richard Koteles. Dear Brother in-law of Gregg and Darlene McCarron. Loved Uncle and Friend to many. A Private Memorial Service to be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to 2484 Florence Rd. Mt. Hatfield, Mary E.
Mary Elizabeth Hatfield 77, of Sykesville, died Thursday February 25, 2010 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. She was born September 25, 1932 in Woodbine, MD the daughter of the late William and late Pearl Crabb Duvall. She was the wife of the late Gilbert Eugene Hatfield. In her early years she worked at the canning factory in Woodbine. Late in life she worked at a Laundromat. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed visiting with family, eating out and when she was in better health gardening and going to yard sales. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Betty and Charles Colson of Sykesville who she lived with, Son Stanley Hatfield of Sykesville, Sons and daughter-in-law Gilbert and Linda Hatfield of Sykesville, William “ Billy” and Sharon Duvall of Westminster and Sam and Barbara Duvall of Westminster, 8 Grandchildren: Christy, Chris, Kenny, Jason, Betty, Gilbert, Michael and Johnahan and 4 Great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by brothers Calvin Duvall, Harry Duvall and Howard Duvall and sisters Rosie Smith, Betty Haines and Pauline Colson. Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 1, 2010 11 :00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. William Phebus of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Morgan Chapel cemetery, Woodbine, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.

Roland F. Thomas, Sr., age 82, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Baltimore, MD died Tuesday March 2, 2010 at Hanover Hospital, Hanover, PA. He was born July 27, 1927 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late George C. Thomas and Frances E. Thomas (nee Schulz). He was a milkman for Sealtest Company for 30 years. He was the husband of Shirley G. Thomas (nee Brown). He was the father of Darlene Kummell and husband Gary of Mt. Airy, MD, Roland F. Thomas, Jr. of Baltimore and Robin C. Thomas of Hanover, PA. Also survived by 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday March 10, 2010 at 11:00 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Charles Frederick, Lutheran pastor officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park Sykesville, MD. William Frederick “Fred” Jones, Sr., age 93, of Woodlawn, (Member of Woodlawn Vol. Fire Dept.), died Thursday March 4, 2010 at Chapel Hill Nursing Home. He was born July 6, 1916 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of the late Frank and Katherine Jones. He was the husband of Rosalie S. Jones. He was a Foreman/Dispatcher for Baltimore Concrete Products/Wilbert Vault Company. He was the father of William F. Jones, Jr. of Finksburg and Dennis F. Jones of Woodlawn. He was a brother of Edgar “Wimpy” Jones of Annapolis. Predeceased by brothers and sisters. Grandfather of Gregory William Jones. Edna Roberta Paulus Carter, 86 of Baltimore, MD, died Saturday March 6, 2010 at Transitions in Sykesville. She was the spouse of the late George J. Carter. Mrs. Carter was born February 3, 1924 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Harry and late Genieve O’Neal Paulus. Mrs. Carter was a member of Colonial and Elders Baptist Churches. Surviving her are Daughter and Son-in-law Roberta and James Whetzel of Baltimore, Brother Maynard Paulus of Woodlawn, Grandchildren James C. Whetzel, Melissa Ann Brooks, Michael Whetzel and Joy Greenwald, Great-grandchildren Jeremiah, James, Jeanna, Jonathan, Kyle, Emma and Ricky. Preceded in death by Son George R. Carter, Sisters and Brothers Mae Hahn, Margaret Binger, Harry and Robert Paulus. She was born October 5, 1929 in Johnsville, Maryland the daughter of the late John Savoy and the late Laura Thomas Savoy. She was a nurse at Mt. Wilson Hospital. She was the wife of Arbury Henry Costley. She was the mother of Veronica West of Randallstown. James S. Malone, Jr., age 76, of Eldersburg, formerly of Randallstown, died Monday March 22, 2010 at University Hospital, Baltimore, MD. He was born September 14, 1933 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late James S. (Fuzz) Malone, Sr. and the late Dorothy Cook Malone. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Mt. St. Joe High School. He was a member of American Legion Post 122 and DAV in Westminster. He was the husband of Rosemary A. Malone (nee Fauth) of Eldersburg. He was a Retired supervisor from C & P Telephone/Bell Atlantic for over 33 years retiring in 1985. He was the father of James S. Malone III and wife Janet of Lufkin, Texas, Robert J. Malone and wife Mary C. of Woodstock, MD, Susan M. Mareski and husband Gregory of Oriole, MD and Daniel S. (Danny Boy) Malone and wife Dawn of Reisterstown, MD. Brother of John D. (Donald) Malone and wife Patricia Lambert Malone. Also survived by grandsons Philip and Matthew and granddaughters Andrea, Jennifer and Jessica and three great grandsons in Lufkin, Texas. She was a member for over 32 years at Mt. Airy Bible Church. She loved Gardening and Flowers. Surviving her in addition to her husband are Daughter and Son-in-law Lisa and George Fusco of Westminster, Sisters, Betty D. Sullivan, Mary E. Richardson, Faith J. Johns, Peggy J. Frazer, Diana L. Bradshaw. Brothers Richard, Herbert and Ralph Bathgate. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by Brother the late Donald Bathgate. McCarty, Anne K.
Anne Kathleen (Carter) McCarty, 88 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Suddenly Monday, March 29, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the Loving spouse of Russell Glen McCarty. Mrs. McCarty was born May 28, 1921 in Aldie, VA the daughter of the late Ira and Anna (Watson ) Carter. She was a homemaker, a member of Glenmont United Methodist Church, enjoyed spending time with her family, taking long rides in the country and attending grandchildren’s numerous sporting events. Surviving her in addition to her husband are her children: Russell Patrick and wife Sharon McCarty of Mt. Airy, Michael Lee McCarty of Mt. Airy, Elizabeth Anne and husband Michael Heard of Mt. Airy, Thomas Glen and wife Shari McCarty of Winfield. Sister: Martha Frazier.
