Condon, Lurena G.
Lurena G. Condon (nee Garber), age 93, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Northampton Manor Health Care Center in Frederick. Born March 24, 1917, in Oak Orchard (New Windsor) in Frederick County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Garber and late Elizabeth Rippeon Garber. She was the wife of Hearl M. Condon who predeceased her in 2000. She attended high school in Libertytown, Maryland . She was a housewife for many years, but worked briefly in the cafeteria at South Carroll High School . She loved cooking, gardening and playing the piano. She was a long time member of Taylorsville United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hearl G. Condon and Marianne Condon of Millsboro, DE, son, Charles Condon of Mount Airy, 4 grandchildren, Vicki Autry of Salisbury, Kimberly Krauskopf of Frederick, and Christopher and Jessica Condon of Mount Airy, 3 great-grandchildren, Gerald Autry of Westminster and Sarah Chatfield of Salisbury and Chelsey Krauskopf of Frederick, 1 great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Chatfield of Salisbury, and a sister, Hallie Carpenter of Littlestown, PA, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 8 other brothers and sisters. There will be a viewing at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA at 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, (next to South Carroll High School) from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The funeral will be at the Taylorsville United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, with Rev. Sarah B. Dorrance officiating. Interment Taylorsville U.M. Church cemetery. There will be a luncheon for family and friends at the Church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Taylorsville United Methodist Church at 4356 Ridge Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771 .

Slagle, Robert T.
Robert Thomas Slagle 50, of Sykesville, died Monday May 10, 2010. Beloved husband of Nancy E. (Starlnecker) Slagle. Mr. Slagle was born December 29, 1959 in Washington DC. The Son of Robert Charles and the late Mary Lillian Slagle. He was an electrician and employed by IBEW. He enjoyed family and outdoor activities and well as helping others with his vast knowledge and huge heart. Surviving in addition to his wife and father are Sons Thomas M, John R. and Matthew G. Slagle. Catholic Prayer Service Friday May 14, 2010 11 Am at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Interment to follow in Pleasant Ridge cemetery Woodbine, MD The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday 3-5 and 7-9 PM.

Smith, Cary A.
Cary Austin Smith 62 of Sykesville, MD, died May 10, 2010 at University of MD Medical Center. He was the spouse of Gwendolyn J. (Griese) Smith. He was born May 10, 1948 in Baltimore, MD. The son of Loretta Josephine (Schmauss) Smith and the late Nickoles Austin Smith. Mr. Smith worked in Sales. Hobbies included Model Trains his Mini Cooper and going to the Shooting Range. Surviving in addition to his wife and father are Son and Daughter-in-law Todd and Cindy Smith of Deep Creek, MD Sisters: Susan Robinson of Jekyll Island, GA and Terri Smith of Monkton, MD. Memorial Services will be PRIVATE . In lieu of flowers donations to Carroll Hospice 292 Stoner Ave Westminster, MD 21157.

Boyd, Jean M.
Jean M. Boyd (nee Moodispaw), age79, of Gaithersburg, MD, died Monday May 10, 2010 at Brinton Woods Nursing Home, Sykesville, MD. She was born August 8, 1930 in Norfolk, VA, the daughter of the Late Eugene and late Estelle Ames Moodispaw. She was the wife of the late Winfield Conrad Boyd, Sr. who died in January 2010. Mrs. Boyd was a Physical Education Instructor and Administrator for Anne Arundel County Schools, She was also a Dance Instructor, a Sports Enthusiast and enjoyed Knitting and reading, and she was an Active Church member at both Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church and Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. Surviving is daughter Dr. Lee E. Boyd of Lawrence, KS, Daughter and Son-in-law Anne B. and Keith Frampton of Sykesville. Sister Elizabeth Turner of MI. Brother Leonard Moodispaw of Gambrills, MD, Granddaughter Faith E. Frampton. Funeral Service will take place Tuesday, May 18, 2010 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. OLD Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD with Rev. Russell Sukhia officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer UMC cemetery, Winfield, MD. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA on Tuesday From 10:00-11:00 AM. Fitzgerald, Joan G.
Joan Grace (LaRicci) Fitzgerald, 74 of Taylorsville, died peacefully Friday May 14, 2010 at the Dove House in Westminster, MD. She was the spouse of 50 years to Paul G. Fitzgerald. She was born November 12, 1935 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Joseph LaRicci and Anita (Udes) LaRicci. She was a homemaker and enjoyed Camping and Traveling. Loving Mother of JoAnn Deaton Molloy and husband the late Patrick Molloy of Taylorsville. Dear Sister of Joseph and Louis LaRicci, Charlotte Ciambruschini and Juliette Malley. Loving Grandmother of Sara and Husband Michael Wink, Brittany Woodfield and Boyfriend Zachary Baker. Great-Grandmother of Gabrielle and Alexandra Wink. Dearest Aunt of Gordon and wife Cindy LaRicci. Janice LaRicci Boyer and husband Eric. Boyer. Great Aunt of Jake, Jason, Kristan and Wes. Also survived by numerous nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by Brother Gordon George LaRicci and best friend and sister-in-law Dorothy R. LaRicci. Sister Victoria Francioni, Brother Vincent Ciambruschini, Brothers Anthony and Robert LaRicci. A Funeral Liturgy will be said on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 11 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church at the intersection of Routes 26 and 75, Libertytown, MD. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Horner, Alma
Alma Wilhelmina (Staedtler) Horner 94 of Senior Constant Care Formerly of Elkridge, MD, died Saturday May 15, 2010 at Senior Constant Care in Winfield. She was the spouse of the late Charles H. Horner, Sr. She was born July 24, 1915 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late George Edward Staedtler and late Barbara A (Krach) Staedtler. Mrs. Horner was a Book Keeper/ Office Manager for Commercial Tire. Surviving her ate Daughter and Son-in-law Dorothy Jean and Carlo Gomez of Ellicott City, MD. Son and Daughter-in-law Charles H. Horner Jr. and wife Louise of Taylorsville. Sister Dorothy E. Heywood of Parkville. Grandchildren Denise Brandenburg, Donna Resch, Kathleen O’Toole, Amanda Carter and Sarah Horner, 11 Great-grandchildren and 12 Great-great-grandchildren Preceded in death by Sister Loretta Bullen. Funeral Services will be Wednesday May 19, 2010 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park. Buckheit, Jr., George A.
George Albert Buckheit, Jr. of Owings Mills, MD, died Saturday May 15, 2010 at Genesis Eldercare in Randallstown. He was born December 10, 1939 in Baltimore, MD the son of George Albert Buckheit, Sr. and Marie Ada (Felte) Buckheit. Surviving him is Brother-in-law Edward Brady of Owings Mills. Funeral Services will take place Thursday May 20, 2010 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with viewing 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.

Strohminger, Robert F.
Robert Franklin Strohminger, age 61, of Mt. Airy, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his home. He was born June 17, 1948 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Melvin Strohminger and the late Theresa F. Strohminger (nee Salchunas). He worked for the State of Maryland Sales and Taxes auditor enforcement. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps. He was the brother of Melvin S. Strohminger of Baltimore. Uncle of Mitchell S. Strohminger of Montreal, Canada, Nina S. Strohminger of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Margot F. Strohminger of St. Andrews, Scotland. Cousin of Steven Stewart of Freeland, MD. Gathering of family and friends will be held at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 2:00-2:30 PM at which time service will begin. Private interment.

Kunkle, K. Leroy
K. Leroy Kunkle 72 of Sykesville, MD, died Tuesday May 18, 2010 at the Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was the spouse of H. Marie (Haines) Kunkle. Mr. Kunkle was born October 12, 1937 in Stewartstown, PA the son of the late Rose Bond and late Carroll Kunkle. He worked for Whiting and Turner Construction Company as a Carpenter Foreman for 37 years. He was a member of Carpenter Local 101; Life Member of F.O.E. 2226, Member of VFW 467, American Legion Post 31 and Westminster Moose 1381. He enjoyed watching sports especially Dale Earnhart, Jr. Surviving in addition to his wife are Step-Father James Harmon, Sister: Betty Pond of Sykesville, Brother George Kunkle, Neice Debra and husband Stan Shaw, Nephew Jimmy Kunkle all of New York, Brother and sister-in-laws James and Jean Haines and Raymond and Eleanor Haines. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 22, 2010 10 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD Interment in Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery. Hall, Howard W.
Howard W. Hall, age 79, of Woodbine, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the Carroll Hospice’s Dove House, in Westminster, MD, with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Ernest and late Anna Belle Hall (nee Hatfield), from Watersville, Md. He was born June 3, 1930 in Woodstock, MD. During his working career, he served in the US Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed by the B & O Railroad and employed for 25 years at Springfield State Hospital, in Sykesville, MD, as an LPN, from which he retired. He loved his country and his family and Camp Pen-Mar and the Baltimore Orioles. He was also a member of the Mt. Airy American Legion Post #191. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Audrey A. (nee Rippeon) Hall. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Dawn Hall Bracken and son-in-law Kevin Bracken, of Monkton, MD and son and daughter-in-law Dean Hall and Melanie (Berger) Hall, of Woodbine, MD. He is survived by 4 grandchildren: Janek, Elena and Deanna Bracken of Monkton, MD and Olivia Hall, of Woodbine, MD. He is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Kessler of Fairplay, MD. He is predeceased by his brothers, Alfred Hall and Alvin Hall, and 3 sisters, Mabel Trescott, Dorothy Gosnell and Hilda Davis. He is survived many other relatives, including in-laws, nieces and nephews. Family and friends, who wish to play their respects, may do so at the Burrier- Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, (Beside South Carroll High School) in Winfield, MD from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25. A graveside, interment service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, at the Poplar Springs United Methodist Church’s cemetery, located on Watersville Road in Lisbon, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, Inc- The Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD. 21157-5629, which provided compassionate hospice care to both Howard and his family.

Wachter, Ellen N.
Ellen N. Wachter (nee Nash), age 88, of Baltimore County, died Wednesday May 26, 2010 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. She was born March 13, 1922 in Beltsville, MD the daughter of the late Wilbur F. Nash, Jr. and the late Alice Smith Nash. She was the wife of the late William E. Wachter, Jr. She was the mother of Gary W. Wachter of Taylorsville, Melanie Staudt of Nolensville, TN, and Dale A. Wachter of Baltimore. She was the sister of Paul L. Nash of PA, and Donald S. Nash of New Orleans, Louisiana and the late David H. Nash. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was a retired principle’s secretary for Baltimore County Schools. She enjoyed refinishing antiques. She enjoyed playing piano, water exercise, needlework, and knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Mt. Olive U.M. Church in Randallstown. Once she became a resident at the Homestead where she was known at the “mail queen”; she enjoyed daily exercise class, lectures, bus trips, musical entertainment, taking a walk outdoors and sun on the porch and Cross stitching remained as a favorite hobby. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Friday from 5-7 PM and Saturday from 10:00-12:00 noon at which time funeral service will begin. Interment Patuxent cemetery, Sunshine, MD. Memorial Contributions can be made to Sun Valley Assisted Living, Homestead, 110 Terrapin Drive, Sykesville, MD 21784.
