Wyatt, Marie
Elsie Marie Wyatt, 91, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at St. Vincent’s hospital in Jacksonville, Florida following a brief illness. Mrs. Wyatt was born on December 17, 1918 in Woodbine Maryland to Harry R. and Mary Ann Crum. Mrs. Wyatt and her family moved to Florida in 1952 and lived in Tampa, Brandon, Campville and Macclenny. She enjoyed her pets, gardening and sports - especially the Florida Gators. Mrs. Wyatt is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn Baer of Oswego, New York and Donna (Richard) Melton of Macclenny Florida; four grandchildren Donald Johnson and Billy (Christi) Johnson, Julia (Clinton) Dunsmoor and Katharine Baer; two great grandchildren Carli Johnson and Brooklyn Johnson; six step-grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William Henry Wyatt, daughter Willa Sue Wyatt, and brothers Roy, Fred, and Elbert Crum. The funeral will be at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home 1212 West Old Liberty Road Winfield, Maryland at 12:00 PM on Wednesday following a calling hour at 11:00AM. The burial will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Frederic, Maryland. Donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or a local Humane Society in lieu of flowers.

Jenkins, Elsie M.
Elsie M. (Staubitz) Jenkins, age 100 of Hanover PA formerly of Sykesville, died Thursday June 24, 2010 at The Brethren home Community in New Oxford, PA. She was the spouse of the late Charles R. Jenkins. She was born March 22, 1910 in Randallstown, MD the daughter of the late Louis Staubitz and Mary Uebl Staubitz. Mrs. Jenkins worked at Springfield State Hospital for 21 years at a Dietary Supervisor. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club at St. Joe’s Catholic Church, Enjoyed Crocheting and spending time with her family. Surviving her are Daughter and Son-in-law Mary and Paul Smith of Hanover, PA, Daughter Helen Walterhoefer of Beaufort, SC, Son-in-law John Zepp of Littlestown, PA. 6 Grandchildren, 11 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great granddaughter. Preceded in death by Sister Betty Zepp and 1 Grandson. The family will receive friends on Monday June 28, 2010 10 AM until time of Service at 12 noon. Viewing and Services will take place at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 Interment will be in Springfield cemetery, Sykesville MD. Porter, Bonita A.
Bonita A. Porter (nee Lanning), age 53, of Westminster, died Tuesday June 29, 2010, at her home. She was born August 4, 1956 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of James Lanning and Goldie Henard Lanning of Howard County, MD. She was an office manger for Dr. Scott Maurer in Glenwood. She was the wife of Dennis M. Porter of Westminster, MD. Also survived by son & daughter in law Jeramy & Jennifer Lanning of Littlestown, PA, daughter and son in law Michelle & Scott Kale of Clover, SC, stepdaughter and Step son in law Denise Porter and Kevin Harrison of Lisbon, MD, stepdaughter Lori Porter of Lisbon, MD and stepson Dennis Porter, Jr. of Frederick, MD.; granddaughters Paige Kale and Sabrina Kale and grandsons Zachary and Logan Lanning, Step grandsons- Dallas Briggs, Austin Pickett, Cody Porter, Hayden Harrison and step granddaughters Adrianna Pickett, Miranda and Kimberly Hoffman.; sister and brother in law Betty and Clark Laster of Clover, SC; Brother and sister in law Coy and Sandy Lanning of Lisbon, MD and her sister Rita Lanning of Gastonia, NC. Pre-deceased by her brother Dennis J. Lanning. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Interment Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD. Franks, Bonnie S.
Bonnie Sue (Steele) Franks 70 of Mt. Airy, MD, died June 30, 2010 at her daughters home in Mt. Airy. She was the spouse of the late Jerry Wade Franks, Sr. She was born April 30, 1940 in Dante, WV. The daughter of the late Clarence Houston Steele and the late Willie Elizabeth (Harless) Steele. She retired as the owner of Jerry’s Trophies in Mt. Airy, MD, She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Loving Mother of Jerry Wade Franks, Jr and wife Joan of Mt. Airy, Deborah Mae Franks-Earls and husband Harrison Earls, Jr. of Mt. Airy, Linda Sue Richmond and husband the late Jerry Lee Richmond, Sr. of Mt. Airy, John Wayne Franks and wife Billie Jo of Silver Run. Dear Sister of Betty Gail Gremling of SC, Wanda June Taylor of OH, Douglas Steele of OH, and Larry Steel of OH. Loving Grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by siblings Erma Camp, Hermie Steele, Harriet Baer and Patricia Kitchenmaster. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Winfield, MD with the Rev. Keith Vincent of Mt. Airy Baptist Church officiating. Interment in Pine Grove cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday July 5th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.

Chewning, Hershel F.
Hershel F. Chewning, age 87, of New Windsor, formerly of Woodlawn, died Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Woods at Sun Valley in Westminster, MD. He was born September 1, 1922 in Stone Mountain, GA the son of the late Carmen Lester Chewning and the late Paula E. Taylor Chewning. He was the husband of the late Joel Storie Chewning. He worked for the Schmidt Baking Company and Capitol Lake Company in the maintenance department. He was the father of Stephen E. Chewning and wife Donna of New Windsor. He was the grandfather of Kristine Davoli and Keri Aponte and great grandfather of Wil and Tyler. Inurnment and Graveside service will be held Monday July 12, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Woodlawn cemetery with the Rev. Sarah B. Dorrance of Taylorsville U.M. Church officiating. Memorial Contributions can be made to: Sun Valley Assisted Living, 4115 Ridge Road, Westminster, MD 21157.

Luers, Helena C.
Helena Charles Luers (nee Markulis), age 66, of Reisterstown, died Monday July 5, 2010 at her home. She was born February 18, 1944 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Charles Markulis and the late Marion Markulis. She worked in data entry and customer service departments for various insurance companies. She was the wife of Jerome “Jerry” Luers of Reisterstown. She was the mother of Melina Poole and fiancé Hayden Savage of Reisterstown. She was the grandmother of Jenna Savage. Also survived by two sisters and one brother and predeceased by one sister. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 10:00-11:00 at which time catholic prayers will be held at 11:00 AM with Fr. Marc Lanoue of Sacred Heart of Glyndon Church. Interment Lake View Memorial Park.

Grimes, Raymond A.
Raymond Albert Grimes, age 30, of Westminster, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. He was born July 20, 1979 in Carroll County, Maryland, the son of Debbie Dell Hardman Grimes of Westminster and the late George Raymond Grimes. He was the brother of Danielle Grimes of Westminster. He was the grandson of Louis and Phyllis Gilliss of Sykesville. Also survived by an Aunt- Christine Cunningham and her husband Brian, and Uncles David Hardman and Brian Hardman; and Cousins Brandon Webb and Blake Cunningham. He worked as a strategic sales team administrator for Pro Finisher Plus Company. He was a member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge #93 in Towson, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Baltimore Forest #45. He enjoyed reading and football especially the Jacksonville Jaguars football team; he was an avid collector of star wars, movie props and football memorabilia. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School). Interment will be Lake View Memorial Park. Vidi, Nicholas L.
Nicholas Louis Vidi, age 19, of Mt. Airy, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Westminster, MD. He was born February 13, 1991 in Baltimore, MD the loving son of David Louis Vidi and Charlene C.T. Vidi of Mt. Airy and the late Anna M. Vidi. Dear brother of Angela Vidi and Philip Vidi and Tony Tote and Katy Tote. Beloved grandson of Nilo Vidi and Theresa Sofsky and Connie Courpas. Also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. He worked for his family business. He was a 2009 South Carroll High School graduate. He loved baseball and having fun; and he loves the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Rutledge, Bernice A.
Bernice Alberta Rutledge 52 of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away at home with the loving care of family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 32 years Michael Edward Rutledge and sons Justin and Jesse Rutledge. She fought her battle every day for 15 years with incredible optimism and unswerving faith. Bernice ran in the Race for the Cure and was instrumental in starting and raising funds for Howard County Relay for Life. She worked for the Howard County Office of Aging at the Glenwood Senior Center. Her kindness, loving spirit and strength touched hundreds of lives. In addition to her husband and children she is survived by her mother Betty McKoy, Sister Louise Little Brothers James, Paul, Larry and Kenny McCoy and their spouses and numerous Nieces, Nephews and an abundance of Friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday July 28, 2010 12 Noon at Crossroads Community Church, 895 Leidy Rd. Westminster, 21157 with viewing one hour prior. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 27 4 to 8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Naomi Catherine (King) Rippeon 87 of Woodbine, MD, died Sunday July 25, 2010 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was the spouse of the late George Wilbur Rippeon. She was born December 5, 1922 in York, PA the daughter of the late Gorman King and the late Regina (Rosenburg) King. She was formerly a Registered Practical Nurse for Springfield State Hospital. She loved her family and taking care of Birds. Surviving her are Daughter and Son-in-law Charlotte and Wayne Collins of Woodbine, Son and Daughter-in-law Jeff and Wendy Rippeon of Accident, MD, Sister: Charlotte Baugher, Grandchildren, Julie Ann Pennington, Tim Pennington, Tim Rippeon, Amy Brandt, Zachery Rippeon, 1 Great Grandson Ethan Rippeon. Graveside Services Wednesday July 28, 2010 10 AM at Poplar Springs UMC cemetery, 915 E. Watersville Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday July 27, 2010 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.
