Kenneth Augustus Fleming, 64, of Mt. Airy died Saturday January 31, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD. He was born February 13, 1944 in Frederick, MD the son of Catherine May “Kitty” Penn of and the late Roby A. Fleming. He was the step-son of late William S. Penn. He worked for the Federal Government as a fire fighter at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He was Life Member of Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company. Life Member of American Legion Gold Star Post 191 and Calvary United Methodist Church. He was the husband of Barbara Franklin Fleming. He was the father of Amanda (Amy) Fleming Mastondrea and husband Christian of Hillsbourgh New Jersey. He was the son-in-law of Beatrice Franklin Miller. He was the brother-in-law of Donna and Bill Pope, Carol and Joe Keeney. Uncle of Brianne Pope, Kathi and Jason Green and Michelle Keeney. Also survived by Care Giver Debra Taylor and special friends Frank and Helen Plunkard, John and Shirley Poole. Funeral Service will be held Friday February 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Calvary U.M. Church 403 S. Main Street, Mt. Airy, MD with the Rev. Dennis Yocum of Calvary U.M. Church and Rev. Sarah B. Dorrance of Taylorsville UM Church officiating. James Alfred “Pop- Pop” Divers, age 87, of Sykesville, died Sunday February 1, 2009 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. He was born December 26, 1921 in Franklin County, VA the son of the late Irving Lee Divers and the late Geneva Ann Frances Powell Divers. He was the husband of Velma Romaine DuVall Divers, married for 62 years. He came to Maryland in 1939, worked as a farmer for 15 years, worked as LPN at Springfield Hospital until retirement during that time he won several awards. He was an avid softball player and fisherman and he enjoyed watching football. He loved the garden. Father of Alan R. Divers and his wife Nancy of Placerville, CA and Velma Tucker of Sykesville. Preceded in death by son in law James R. Tucker. Brother of- Ories D. Divers of North Carolina, Ellas D. Divers of Pansy, Alabama, Zelma M. Hubbard of Troutville, VA, Helen I. Ronk of Fincastle, VA and the late Myrtle P. Brubaker, late Mary A. Brubaker, late Robert Lee Divers, Sr., late Charles B. Divers, late George L. Divers, Sr., late Ethel F. Seitz and the late Arthur G. Divers. Brother in law of- Vivian A. Myers and Phyllis J. Doyle both of Westminster, and the late William R. DuVall, late Mary V. Frank, late Hazel L. Myers, late Beulah L. Wilhelm, late Violet E. Handley and the late Ralph E. Duvall. Also survived by grandchildren Jesse Divers, Jennifer Hall and Manwell Hall and step granddaughter Natasha Cortez-Caja. And great grandchildren Shiann Hall, Jamison Hall and Samantha Cortez-Caja. William “Hound Dog” Albert Welsh 83 of Sykesville, MD, died Tuesday February 3, 2009 at the Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was the spouse of the late Mildred Nickoles Welsh, Former Spouse of Thelma Welsh and the late Janet E. Welsh. He was born February 16, 1925 in Woodbine, MD the son of the late Lewis Albert Welsh and the late Mary Evelyn Grimes Pickett. He was a retired Baltimore City Firefighter from Truck 2. Member of Firefighters Union Local 734 IAFF. A life Member of Owings Mill VFW and a Member of Sykesville American Legion, Member of Moose Lodge 1381. Liked Poker, NASCAR, Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Colts. He was Veteran of the US Army. Surviving him are Children: William K Welsh, Sr. of Altoona, PA Thomas J. Welsh of Altoona, PA and Eileen and husband Donald Mayne of Finksburg, Sisters Bessie Turnbaugh of Westminster, Pearl Russell of Linthicum. Grandchildren: Eddie Ruch, Jr. Brian and Robert Ruch all of Sykesville., Amanda, Brad, Kristy and Bill Welsh Jr. all of Altoona, PA. Great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryleigh, and Robert Ruch, Jr. Also survived by Long-Term Companion Mary Lou Main of Elkview, WV. Preceded in death by brothers Frank and James Welsh. Judy B. Norwood (nee Adkins), age 63, of Eldersburg, died Friday February 13, 2009 of University Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. She was born February 27, 1945 in Charlottesville, VA the daughter of the late Ray Adkins and the late Ida Gibson Adkins. She was a Quality Control Inspector for Chesapeake Corporation for 30 years. She was a member of Elders Baptist Church in Eldersburg. She helped with the nursery for over 20 years and helped arranging weddings and funerals at the church. She was helped with Vacation Bible School at the church. She was the wife of Doug N. Norwood. She was the mother of Kimberley Ann Norwood of Tampa, FL. She was the sister of Helen Armstrong, Mary Adkins, Ray and Horace Adkins all of Charlottesville, VA. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday February 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Elders Baptist Church 1216 Liberty Road Sykesville with the Rev. James Edmonson officiating. Barnes, Celeste S.
Celeste S. Barnes (nee Shoemaker), age 87, of Winfield, died Saturday February 14, 2009 at Carroll Hospice, Inc.-Dove House, Westminster, MD. Born August 22, 1921 in Louin, MS, she was the daughter of the late Walter Henry Shoemaker and the late Lillie Mae Read Shoemaker. She was the wife of the late Carlton R. Barnes who died April 8, 1994. She was the eldest of 9 children, 4 sisters surviving. She was a 1946 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, where she met her husband while he was stationed at Camp Shelby at the end of WWII. She moved to MD and taught at Sykesville HS. They married on December 20, 1946. She later worked as a social worker at Springfield State Hospital, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Taylorsville UMC, life member of Carroll County Historical Society, and Life member of Winfield Ladies Auxiliary, and Carroll County Homemakers Club going on several of their world travel trips. Her main interest was sewing for herself and others, reading novels, and traveling the world. She is survived by her children: Wanda & David Hall of Joppa, MD; Wilma & Howard Poole of Boydton, VA; Grandchildren: R. Warren & Penepi Brown of Winfield, Wendy Millender & husband Charles of Manchester, Michael Hall of Baltimore, Michelle Hall of New York and Christie Poole; and 8 great-grandchildren. Sisters Hope Ulmer of Bay Springs, MS, Myra Kincaide of Dillon, CO; Delores Shoemaker of Los Angeles, CA and Rachel Prislovsky of Memphis, TN. She was predeceased by son Charles Ray Barnes on November 14, 1973, brothers: Gerald Shoemaker, Dr. Joseph Shoemaker, Marvin Shoemaker, and sister Laura Shoemaker. Herbert Wilmer Findeisen, Jr. (Retired Baltimore City Educator), age 77, of Orrtanna, PA, formerly of Randallstown, MD died Saturday February 14, 2009 at York Hospital, York, PA. He was born November 2, 1931 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Herbert Wilmer Findeisen, Sr. and the late Edna Regina Kessler Findeisen. He was the husband of Shirley Ann (Quidas) Findeisen married for 47 years. Father of James H. Findeisen and his wife Roseann of Berkley Heights, NJ, Steven M. Findeisen and wife Robin of Westminster, MD and Herbert W. Findeisen III and wife Kathleen of Mt. Airy, MD. Grandfather of Ryan James, Gregory Joseph, Emma Magdalena and Lara Elizabeth, Douglas Kyle and Victoria Lynn Findeisen. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War Quartermaster, USS Gilbert Islands. He graduated From Baltimore Polytechnic H.S., and Towson State BS degree in Education, and Master in Mathematics at Catholic University and Master in Education Western MD College. He worked for 28 years for the Baltimore City Public Schools as Mathematics Teacher/Department Head, Assistant Principal and Principal retiring in 1984. He also was a Mathematics Teacher and Evening administrator at Carroll Community College. He was Past Board & League President, Coach, Umpire for Liberty Road Baseball, Past President of Liberty Road Umpire Association, Past president of Randallstown Optimist Club, member of Randallstown Optimist Rifle Club, Past President and Referee for Randallstown Optimist Football League, Board member, treasurer and President of First Step, Inc., Arbitrator for Baltimore City Public School Disciplinary Board, Past Master and Secretary for Sharon Lodge #182 AF & AM, Past master Bonnie Blink Daylight Lodge #001 AF & AM, Member of Knights of Mecca of Boumi Shrine, Past Masters’ Association of Baltimore City AF & AM of Maryland, Standing member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Baltimore Forest #45, Resident member of Smithsonian Associate Program, Member of Navy League of the US and VFW Post #15040, AOPA, Scottish Rite member and Grand Inspector for the Grand Lodge, and Brahms Level Member of the Baltimore Symphony. Jack Graham Corvin, Sr., age 75, of Sykesville, died Saturday February 14, 2009 at Carroll Hospice-Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was born May 11, 1933 in Wytheville, VA, the son of the late Raymond Ernest and Elizabeth Alice Kegley Corvin. He was the husband of Glenna Jean Corvin of 46 years of Marriage. He worked for Glenelg Martins of Baltimore for a long period of years as a aircraft company. He worked for Sunset Hills Farms for 25 years as a horseman and maintenance Forman. He served in the armed forces. He enjoyed his family and time with his grandchildren and great grandsons. Surviving children are daughter and son-in-law Betty and Bill Hopkins, Sr., Klondike, Texas, son and daughter in law Jack G. Jr. and Stacey Corvin of Colora, MD and daughter Bobbie Jo and Stanley Haines of Taneytown, MD. He was predeceased by an infant daughter and a son Charles Rodney Corvin. He has 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. Surviving siblings are Polly Jennings of West Virginia, Daniel Corvin of Baltimore County, MD and Sue Harless of Joppa, MD. He was predeceased by 2 brothers James E. Corvin and David R. Corvin and one sister Mary Pearry. Eunice Katherine Jones (nee Schmidt), age 92, of Randallstown, died Sunday February 15, 2009 at Chapel Hill Nursing Home in Randallstown. She was born September 11, 1916 in Randallstown, MD the daughter of the late Samuel Adam Schmidt and the late Virginia Dare Mettum Schmidt. She was the wife of the late Elmo L. Jones. She was a housewife. She was the oldest living member of Mt. Olive U.M. Church in Randallstown. She was Past President of Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was the mother of Betty L. Becker of Eldersburg, Stanley A. Jones of Randallstown, Martin L. Jones of Pine Ridge, FL formerly of Eldersburg and the late Robert L. Jones. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth McGinnis, late Eleanor Tate, late Dorothy Hohman, late June Clark, and late Sara Snyder. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Friday February 20, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Mt. Olive U.M. Church, 5115 Old Court Road, Randallstown with the Dr. Rev. Laura Lee C. Morgan officiating. Interment Mt. Margaret L. Mott (nee McNamara), age 85, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, died Thursday February 19, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, MD. She was born September 12, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of the late George Loyal McNamara and the late Florence McLeod McNamara. She was the wife of the late Walter B. Mott. She was the mother of Thomas Mott of PA, Barbara Ford of New York, Kathi Wzientek of MD, Gary Mott of MD and Christine Frick of MD. Sister of Robert McNamara of Wisconsin. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was a Retired Clerk for the US Post Office. She served in the Navy Waves during WWII. She grew up in Huron, South Dakota and lived in Long Island, NY for many years before moving to Rehoboth, DE. She loved casinos and slots, reading, Knitting and the Beach. She made many friends over the years and she enjoyed being with family and friends. Roscoe “Bud” W. Maring 83 Life Long Resident of Gillis Rd in Woodbine, MD, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at home in Woodbine. He was the spouse of 56 years to June Hidey Maring. Mr. Maring was born on December 3, 1925 in Woodbine, MD the son of the late Jesse B. Maring and the late Edna Welsh Maring. Mr. Maring was a Farmer, a School Bus Contractor and was retired from Exxon where he was a Truck Driver and later a Dispatcher. He was a Carroll County 4-H Leader and Beef Superintendent for the Carroll County 4-H Fair. He was a member of the Carroll County Fair Board and also the Ag Center Board and the Carroll County Farm Bureau for over 50 years. He was also an Avid Oriole and sports fan. Surviving in addition to his wife are Sons and Daughter-in-laws: Donald and Dawn Maring, Gary and Sheri Maring, Daughters Susan and Linda Maring and Granddaughters Stephanie and Stacie Maring all of Woodbine. He is preceded in death by Brothers Ralph and Raymond Maring and Sisters Gladys Arbaugh and Thelma Davis. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday February 25, 2009 10 AM at Burrier-Queen funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Sarah B. Dorrance of Taylorsville UM Church officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. Joyce Ann Simms Dorsey 64, of Germantown, MD went home to be with the Lord of Tuesday February 17, 2009. She was born May 15, 1944 to Israel Singleton and the late Lucille H Simms Dotson. She graduated from Robert Moton High School in 1962. She was employed at A.E.C (Now D.O.E.) in Germantown, MD. She worked 20 years at the department of Transportation (Ride On) in Montgomery County. She dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Warren UMC and later rededicated her life to Simpson UMC where Rev. Gregory McNeil is Pastor. She had enough love in her heart for everyone. She was the devoted Mother of Regina Dorsey of Derwood, MD, Cynthia and Joe Jenkins of Germantown, MD and Richard L. Dorsey of Germantown, MD. She also leaves to mourn 3 Sisters, Dotty Simms Brightful of Mt. Airy, Patricia Singleton of Philadelphia, PA, Delores Hargrove of Chesapeake, VA, and 3 brothers Arthur Simms of Mt. Airy, MD Israel Singleton, Jr of Jamaica Queens, NY, Steven Singleton of Newport, VA She also leaves 19 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousin and Friends 2 dedicated friends Betty Davis and Juvonia Washington. He was born Januray 16, 1930 in Woodbine, MD the son of late William R. Haugh, Sr. and late Ethel Mae Day Haugh. He was retired from R.H. Mullinix and Sons for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, and played Community Baseball as a young man. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and spouses Cathy Schatz of Taneytown, Cindy and Howard Williamson of Matthews, NC, Michael and Annette Haugh of Mt.
