Emily Barbara Gosnell 86 of Sykesville formerly of Reisterstown, died Friday May 22, 2009 at Transitions Health Care. She was the spouse of the late Russell E. Gosnell. She was born June 21, 1922 in Houtzdale, PA. The daughter of the late Valentine Thompson and the late Mary (Wolbeski) Thompson. She was a Bookkeeper for Gosnell Builders. Surviving are children Dottie and Dave Gillespie of Reisterstown, Russ and Carol Gosnell of Fredericksburg, VA, Julie and Tom Balkus of Dunellon, FL Brother: John Thompson. Grandchildren: Gail Jones and Tina Hutchinson, Great-grandchildren Katie and Andrew Hutchinson and Abbie Jones. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 27, 2009 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 Interment Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Harriett Elizabeth “Hattie” Layton (nee Moyer), age 97, of Woodbine, died Sunday May 24, 2009 at her home. She was born February 24, 1912 in Rockville, MD the daughter of the late George D. Moyer and the late Anna Gertrude Gilliss Moyer. She was a housewife. She was a graduate From Damascus High School and a member of Jennings Chapel U.M. Church. She was the wife of the late Earl Edwin Layton. She was the mother of Eugene E. Layton of Hagerstown, Carl E. Layton of Woodbine, Leannah E. Krauss of Florida and Edith E. Nye of Woodbine. Loving Grandmother of Randall E. Layton and wife Margaret, Kimberly Actis and husband John, Angela Delph and husband Billy Joe and Gregory Krauss; also survived by several great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Friday May 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with Rev. Brian Shockey of Jennings Chapel U.M. Church officiating. Interment Jennings Chapel U.M. Church cemetery, Woodbine. Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Heeter, Harold E.
Harold E. Heeter, age 77, of Randallstown, died Saturday May 23, 2009 at Northwest Hospital Center, in Randallstown. He was born July 11, 1931 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late David Heeter and the late Helen Roeger Heeter. He was the husband of the late Sally Walker Heeter. He was an optician for United Optical. He served in the Navy from 1951-1954. He was the father of Harold (Chip) and wife Cathy Heeter, Jr., Thomas and wife Jill Heeter, Kenneth and wife Donna Heeter. Loving grandfather of Rachel, Zachary, Michael and Sarah Heeter. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Ruby L. Duerling (nee Boughan), age 82, died Monday May 25, 2009, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center in Westminster, MD. She was born May 18, 1927 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Larkin H. Boughan and the late Fannie Mae Boughan (nee Covington). She was a housewife. She was a member of Reisterstown Baptist Church. She was the husband of James R. Duerling. She was the mother of Robert L. Duerling and wife Karen of Westminster and C. Scott Duerling and wife Karin of Anne Arundel County. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and sister in law Bernie Boughan of Westminster. Funeral Service will be held Saturday May 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Pastor John Rudd of Reisterstown Baptist Church officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park. Dorothy Brickerd (nee Selby), age 75, of Reisterstown, died Thursday May 28, 2009 at Gilchrist Hospice Care, Inc., Towson, MD. She was born December 1, 1933 in Mt. Airy, MD the daughter of the late Leona Selby and the late Helen Lindsay Selby. She was a housewife. She was the mother of late Debra Brickerd, late Mark Brickerd, and late Douglas Brickerd. She was the sister of Ruby Robertson of Middle River, Janet Perry of North Carolina and Betty Snyder-Mantell of Frederick. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Keller, Ethel M.
Ethel Mae (Dugan) Keller, age 87 of Randallstown, MD died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Gilchrist Hospice Center. She was the wife of Milton Joseph Keller. She was born December 2, 1921 in Maryland, the daughter of the late William Garfield Dugan and Virgie (Duffmeyer) Dugan. She was a retired bus driver for Baltimore County schools, where she worked for 25 years. She is survived by Daughters, Jean Lawson of Westminster and Linda Wolf of Cumberland, Sister Lo retta Campbell of Hawaii; grandchildren Carl & Tracey Lawson, Brian & Diane Lawson, and Kristen Wolf; great-grandchildren Krystal, Katey, Jodi, Brian Jr., Rachel, Carly, Whitney and Elizabeth (Lizzi). Services will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Granite Presbyterian Church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, June 6, 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Sunday, June 7, 2:00 – 4:00 PM.

Gorton, Mary J.
Mary Jane Gorton, 87, of Mt. Airy died Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Born June 27, 1921 in Washington, D.C. She was the only child of Dr. William Howard and Marie (Conway) Gorton. She was the wife of the late Fred Beuchert, Jr and the former wife of James Craighead. She was a secretary with the Largo, Florida Department of Transportation up until her retirement. Previously she was employed with the Prince Georges County Department of Health and Fabricators Steel . She was an avid reader who enjoyed astrology and genealogy. She spent many years living in Clearwater, Florida before moving to Mt. Airy to be closer to her family. Surviving are her children, Daniel Beuchert and wife, Mirta of Puerto Rico, and Fred Beuchert III and wife, Diana of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Sandra Foyt and her husband, Dr. David, Daniel Beuchert II, Christina Kinchen and her husband, Dan, Nastasha Gloger and husband, Brad, Paula Rivera and husband, Hector, Sara Hubble and Amy Morrissey; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Alex Foyt, Danielle and Kaley Kinchen, Shane Gloger, Ethan, Isabella and Jonathan Rivera, Kristine, Zachary and Olivia Hubble, Leah, Tyler, Dustin and Dillon Morrissey. She was predeceased by great-grandson, Jacob Hubble. She will also be remembered by former daughter-in-law, Lorna Beuchert. There will be no viewing and interment will be private at Cedar Hill cemetery in Suitland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or to the Community Foundation of Frederick County’s Jacob W. Hubble Scholarship Fund, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

Wean, Hope A.
Hope Ann Wean 33, of Westminster, MD, died Friday June 5th. She was born June 27, 1975 in Baltimore, MD. The daughter of Kevin Wilson Wean and Donna Louise (Sealing) Wean. She was a secretary for BFI. Surviving in addition to her parents are Daughters Sierra A. Wean and Alyssa Traup. Grandmother Arvetta Wean, Step-Grandfather Carl Fugate, Sister Amy Louise Crockett and numerous other family members. The family will receive friends on Sunday 3-5 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Hyde, Jr., Earl L.
Earl Lantz Hyde, Jr. 87 of Linwood, MD, died Wednesday June 3, 2009 after an extended Illness. He was the spouse of Nannie Larue (Gosnell) Hyde. He was born June 18, 1921 in New Windsor, MD the son of the late Earl Lantz Hyde, Sr. and the late Lena (Gutman) Hyde. Mr. Hyde worked for C & P Telephone for over 30 years. He was also a Hobby Farmer. He served 4 years during WWII in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member V. F. W. Memorial Post 8806 of Union Bridge. He is predeceased by his beloved Son Earl Lantz Hyde, III. Surviving in addition to his wife are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside Services will be held Saturday June 6, 2009 1:00 PM at Pipe Creek cemetery, Pipe Creek Rd and Rt. 84. Inurnment to follow. Arrangement by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home Winfield, MD.

Woodrow A. Crumbacker, age 68, formerly of Carroll County, died Saturday June 6, 2009 at Bedford Hospital in Bedford, PA. He was born June 23, 1940 in Dennings, Maryland the son of the late Woodrow Francis “Jim” Crumbacker and the late Carrie Mae Schellar Crumbacker. He was a Body and Fender Auto mechanic. He enjoyed farming. Brother of Ronnie W. Crumbacker of Westminster, Charles N. Crumbacker of Taneytown, Anita M. Galley of New Windsor and the late Emerson Lee Crumbacker and late Larry F. Crumbacker. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday June 10, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA with Pastor Wallace “Bud” Lusk officiating. Private Interment. Hartman, Francis L.
Francis Leo Hartman 65 of Mt. Airy, died Suddenly on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the Beloved Husband of Laura Lee (nee Barton) Hartman. He was born July 17, 1943 in Baltimore, MD. The Son of Isaac Myrl Hartman and the late Helen Louise (Meyers) Hartman. Mr. Hartman was retired from the National Security Administration and now was working as a self-employed Security Consultant. He served in the MD National Guard, Loved his family and was an Avid Baseball Fan. Mr. Hartman still was actively playing baseball. Surviving in addition to his wife and father are daughter Courtnay and husband Todd Moore of Mt. Airy. Grandson Kyle Moore. Timothy F. Jahnigen, age 60, of Mt. Airy, died Saturday June 6, 2009 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. He was born February 2, 1949 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Edward H. Jahnigen and the late Ella Louise Haubroe Jahnigen. He was a retired Energy consultant supervisor for B.G. & E. Co. He was an avid Coin Collector. He loved the outdoors. He was the brother of Ed Jahnigen of Jarrettsville, Hugh Jahnigen of Hanover, PA, and Teresa Lindquist of Florida. Memorial Catholic Prayer Service will be held Sunday June 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with Priest from St. Joseph Catholic Community in Sykesville officiating; Gathering of Friends from 2-4 PM at funeral home. Brenda S. Dean (nee Smith), age 65, of Eldersburg, died Monday June 8, 2009 at the Carroll Hospice-Dove House in Westminster, MD. She was born August 11, 1943 in Houlton, Maine the daughter of Pauline F. Powell White and the late Kenneth Smith. She received her Masters of Financial Accounting from Loyola and was a CPA and an Assistant County Auditor for Howard County Government. She served as Treasurer and Sunday School teacher and active member at Calvary U.M. Church in Mt. Airy. She also helped with Meals on Wheels. She was the wife of Benjamin Franklin Dean III. She was the mother of Jennifer & George Solomos and Katie & Jon Engemann. She was the sister of Cheryl Pringle, Phyllis Cavin, David Smith and the late Larry Smith. Loving grandmother of Kaitlyn Engemann, Harry Solomos, Brandon Engemann, Rebecca Solomos, Mary Beth Engemann and Gabriel Engemann. Private Interment at Arlington National cemetery.

Josephine Moore Davidson 80 Of Woodbine, died at Brinton Woods Health Care on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. She was the spouse of the late Worley James Davidson. Mrs. Davidson was born September 10, 1928 in Sneedsville, TN. She was the daughter of the late George and Fannie Goins Moore. Mrs. Davidson worked as a Custodian for Carroll County Board of Education at South Carroll High School and also for John F. Horton. She was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Mrs. Josephine Moore Davidson 80 of Woodbine Church. Surviving are Son and Daughter-in-law Hobert D and Shane Davidson of Mt. Airy, Daughter and Son-in-law Sue and Donald Colson of Woodbine Grandchildren William Christian, Peggy Davis, Melanie Colson Ecton, Donny Colson, Cheyenne and Dallas Davidson, Brothers Benjamin and Welty Moore and Sisters Dorothy and Nell Ruth Moore. Great-Grandchildren Kaleigh Davis, Garrett and Amanda Christian and Brittany Colson. She was predeceased by a Son Clayton T Davidson and Loving Daughter Linda Ann Christian that died January 28, 2009, Grandson Shane Mark Davidson, Sisters Mary Mullins and Virginia King and Brother Milton Moore. Funeral Services will take place Saturday June 13, 2009 10 AM at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church 2145 McKendree Rd. West Friendship, 21794 with Rev. William “Billy” Phebus officiating Interment to follow in the church cemetery. White and the late Anna Capps White. She was a homemaker and loved gardening. Beloved wife of the late Edward Wadlow DeVries. Devoted mother of Marsha Hodge and husband David of New Market and Linda Evans and husband Rich of Marriottsville. Dear sister of William White of Baltimore and the late Frances Watts. Loving grandmother of Joseph Hodge, Ashley Evans, Courtney Evans and Daniel Evans. Private Service and Interment.
