Dean, Kenneth J.

Kenneth Joseph Dean, 70 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Saturday August 15, 2009 at home after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was the spouse of Elaine (Griffith ) Dean. He was born July 31, 1939 in Washington, DC. The son of the late John Joseph Dean and the late Lillian Joyce Phillips. He was a retired bus driver from Montgomery County RideOn. He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. He was veteran of US Army. He was a Weblo’s Leader for Cub Scout Pack 734 Mt. Airy, MD, and enjoyed golfing. Surviving in addition to his wife are Son: Marc A. Dean of Washington, D.C., Son and daughter-in-law Arnold and Zelda Yanovich of Leicester, UK. Daughter and Son-in-law Renee’ and Chris Wolfe of Boonsboro, MD Sister Mary T. Dean of Gaithersburg, MD Brother and Sister-in-law David R. and Karen Dean of Germantown, MD. Granddaughters Kaia and Jasmine Wolfe, Sasha and Esmee Yanovich. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 11 AM at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 1402 N. Main St. Mt. Airy, MD 21771 Inurnment will be later this fall in Arlington National cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Carroll Hospice 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, MD 21157 or Mt. Airy, Net 403 S. Main St. Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Kriete, Joyce R.

Joyce Rosella Kriete, 76, St. Augustine, FL died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Letter Kenney, PA and had resided in St. Augustine for the past 25 years, moving here from Woodstock, MD. She was retired from the Social Security Administration where she had worked as a secretary and later worked for the St. Johns County School Board as a school bus aide. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, St. Augustine Humane Society and the American Kennel Club. Funeral service will be held Saturday August 22, 2009 at 12:00 PM at Granite Presbyterian Church, 10637 Old Court Road, Granite, with Rev. Doris Cowan officiating. Interment Granite Presbyterian Church cemetery. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Friday from 6-8 PM. And at the church on Saturday from 11:00-12:00 Noon. She is survived by her children, Stephanie L. “Mitzi” Galford, Taneytown, MD, Brenda Christ, Hanover, PA; two brothers, Alvin Hartman, Keymar, MD, Marlin Dean Hartman, Chambersburg, PA; and 5 grandchildren: Holly Ludwig, Jordyn Christ, Cody, Paul, Jr. and Stephanie Nicole Galford. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Buzz” Hartman. L. Gerald “Jerry” Oursler, age 78, of Manchester, formerly of Randallstown, died Thursday August 20, 2009 at Carroll Hospice, Inc.-Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was born March 29, 1931 in Baltimore County, Maryland the son of the late Laurence E. Oursler and the late Esther S. Oursler (nee Berry). He was a construction supervisor for John K. Ruff, Co., Inc. He loved his pets Katie and Bud. He was an avid Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Orioles fan. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” Oursler. He was the father of Brenda J. and George Petzold of Westminster, Nancy and Jack Wagner of Westminster and L. Wayne and Donna Oursler of Manchester. Loving grandfather of Brian Wagner, Lisa Uhler, Scott Wagner, Gregory Petzold, Brady, Jacob, Hayden and Darcy Oursler. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Jenkins, Edith

Edith Jenkins (nee Carlisle), age 98, of, Mount Airy, died Monday, August 31, 2009 at Northhampton Manor Nursing Home in Frederick. She was the wife of the late Willard F. Jenkins. She was born May 21, 1911 in Arlington, Virginia. Daughter of the late Elick and Sarah Carlisle (nee Tevault). She was a Homemaker and Needlecraft Instructor; loved all sports but especially she was a lifelong avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles. Member of Catonsville United Methodist Church. Survived by Son, Norman (Andrea) Jenkins of Columbia, Maryland; daughter, Wilma (Michael) of Mount Airy, Maryland; Grandchildren, Christi (Bob) Winkler; Margaret Hallaren Friebel, Patti (Tim) Linthicum, Tom (Dawn) Hallaren, Ed (Shirley) Jenkins, Joe (Karen) Hallaren, Laura (Brian) McDonald; nine great-grandchildren. Contributions to American Heart Association-Maryland or the charity of one's choice. Private Service.

Nash, Nancy E.

Nancy E. Nash (nee Ruppert), age 71, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Carroll Hospice, Inc.-Dove House in Westminster. She was born April 9, 1938 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of Helen Smith Rupert of Sykesville and the late Marshall Ruppert. She worked in the Billing Department office for a Dairy Company. She was the wife of Dale L. Nash. She was the mother of Karen E. Tokarski of Sykesville. She was the sister of Helen Sanford of PA, Robert Marshall Ruppert of Randallstown and Carolyn D. Byrnes of Sykesville. Grandmother of Curtis L. Tokarski, Jr. and Megan E. Tokarski. Funeral Service will be held Saturday September 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. McDonaldson, Sr., Charles E.

Charles E. McDonaldson, Sr., 64, of Baltimore died Saturday September 5, 2009. Beloved husband of Julie Comer. Mr. McDonaldson was born September 1, 1945 in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late Charles M. McDonaldson and the late Audrey May Poist McDonaldson. He was a Carpenter for Walter Crismer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Devoted Father of Eddie McDonaldson, Jr, Dawn and Shawn McDonaldson. Loving brother of Nancy and husband Joe Preston, the late Joyce L. Fertitta and husband Stephen. Survived by 8 grandchildren and preceded in death by 1, Noah. Hoffmaster, Charles F.

Charles Frederick Hoffmaster, 93, of Randallstown, MD died Sunday September 6, 2009 at Northwest Hospital Center. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Doran Hoffmaster. He was born June 3, 1916 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late James Warren and late Bessie Hoffmaster. Mr. Hoffmaster was a Turkey Farmer and a School Bus Dispatcher for Baltimore County Public Schools. He served during WWII in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church for over 70 years and Past Master and Member of Freedom Lodge #112 A.F. and A. M. for over 60 years. He also was active in the Grand Lodge of MD and other collateral bodies of Masonry. Devoted Father of Virginia and husband William Link, James and wife Kathleen Hoffmaster. Loving grandfather of Alesia and Dean Kruckenberg, William Keith and Dolly Link, Jr. Warren and Aneta Hoffmaster and Mary Helen Hoffmaster. Dearest Great-grandfather of Casey Willey, Ashley Link, Debbie Willey, Travis Link and Daniel Hoffmaster. Also survived by special friend Audrey Kuhnle. Preceded in death by Granddaughter Roselle Hoffmaster, MD, 2 Brothers and 4 Sisters. Messner, Sr., John E.

On Saturday John E. Messner, Sr 89 of Mt. Airy, MD formerly of Ellicott City died Saturday September 12, 2009 at Gilchrist Hospice, Towson, MD. He was the husband of Elizabeth Slagle Messner and the late Virginia Amelia Eckles Messner. Mr. Messner was born August 23, 1920 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late William Casper Messner, Sr. and the late Lucy Ruth Ellis Messner. Mr. Messner was an engineer for the Naval Ordinance Lab in White Oak, MD He enjoyed woodworking and had toy, stamp, coin and antique collections. He was a dedicated member of Calvary Lutheran Church a Life Member of American Legion Gold Star Post 191 Mt. Airy, MD and VFW Post 7472 Ellicott City, MD . Mr. Messner also served in the US Army. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Janet Sue and husband Michael Hahn of Ellicott City, Joyce Dawn and husband Charles Schwinabart of Milton, DE, daughter-in-law Joan Messner of Ocean City, MD. Step-Children Ellen Hill Kilby of Sykesville, Patti and husband Fred Cannaday of Mt. Airy, Chris and wife Jen Hill of Thurmont, Nephew William Casper Messner, III. Paul W. Wolfe, age 61, of Mt. Airy, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. He was born on September 14, 1947 in Mt. Airy, Maryland the son of Lorraine Phebus Wolfe and the late George Andrew Wolfe. He worked as a grounds maintenance man for NIST. He was the husband of Linda C. Wolfe (nee Poole). He was the father of Brian Wolfe and wife Treesa of Mt. Airy and Lindsay Eaves and husband Danny of Walkersville. Brother of the late George A. Wolfe, Jr. Loving grandfather of Gunner, Tyler, McKenzy, Brady, Kelsy, Lexie and Braxton. Also survived by special friends Carol & Dave Cornell, Sandy and Kenny Wean and Nancy and Heather Seals. Gathering of family and friends will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday September 17, 2009 from 3:00-4:00PM at which time Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 PM, with Pastor Judith A. Margaret Elizabeth Miller (nee Brady), age 89, of Baltimore County, died Monday September 14, 2009 at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, MD. She was born June 3, 1920 in Baltimore County, Owings Mills, MD. She was the daughter of the late John Henry Brady and the late Elsie Mae McDonald Brady. She was the wife of the late Carl Raymond Miller. She was a caretaker. Surviving are daughter Elizabeth Haga and husband James of Eldersburg; sons James Leo Howes, Sr. and fiancée Beverly Parker of Gettysburg, PA, Thomas Raymond Miller and wife Sally of Gettysburg, PA. Grandchildren; James, Mark and Kellie Haga, James Jr. and Wayne Howes, Stephanie Robinson, Jody Hudson and Kerrie and Thomas (T.J) Miller. Also survived by 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, sister in law Frances E. Brady and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers; Charles, John, Francis, and Joseph Brady and sister Louise Ruch. Funeral Liturgy (MASS) will be held Friday September 18, 2009 at 11:30 AM at “Old” Holy Family R.C. Angus “ Ed” Masters, Jr. 77 of Taylorsville, MD, died Tuesday September 22, 2009 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, MD. He was the spouse of Lois Jean (Elbon) Masters. Mr. Masters was born September 12, 1932 in Green Mountain, NC the son of the late Angus and late Blanche (Robinson) Masters, Sr. He was an Electrician for Enterprise Electric and a Member of Local Union #24. He was a former member of Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club, Attended Westminster Baptist Church, and Enjoyed traveling and visiting with his grandchildren. He served in the US Army. Surviving in addition to his wife are Children and their spouses: Gary and Yumiko Masters of Oklahoma City, OK, Sharon and Rick Law of MD, Ronald and Shulamite Masters of Ewa Beach, HI.
