Lillian P. Miller

SALISBURY -- Lillian P. Miller, 80, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Coastal Hos-pice at the Lake.

She was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Cen-treville, Md., a daughter of the late John Wesley Hammond and Mary Ellen Abrams Hammond.

Lillian worked for many years as an inspector at the Manhat-ten Shirt Factory in Salisbury. She then went to work as a supervisor for W.R. Wilson & Co. in Delmar. She retired from B&L Farms in Salisbury. She was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Salisbury. She will be remembered as someone who cherished spending time with her family. She was an excellent cook, who enjoyed sharing her cooking with family and friends. She loved shopping and Christmas time was her favorite time of the year.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George Miller; seven children, Donald F. Miller and his wife, Natalie, of Red Lion, Pa., Joan M. Donaway and her husband, William, of Willards, George Samuel Miller and his wife, Nancy, of Delmar, Molly Hayward and her husband, Jim, of Salisbury, Kathy J. Timmons and her husband, Freddie, of Pittsville, Georgia A. Hearne and her husband, Jim, of Delmar and Keith Miller and his wife, Diana, of Centreville; 15 grandchildren, Melinda Howell, Bobby Miller, Donna Whaley, Ruthie Hilliard, Jan Rollins, William Donaway Jr., Lisa Schweitzer, George Samuel Miller Jr., Jimmy Hayward, Emmie L. Shortall, Wade F. Timmons, Penny S. Bell, David E. Hearne, Ryan Miller and Michael Miller; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to their special friends, Leon and Dot Lachance of Seaford and Ruth Beauchamp and her late husband, Roy, of Salisbury, for their care and thoughtfulness over the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers; six sisters; and a grandson, Donald F. Miller Jr.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St. in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.

Contributions may be sent to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802, in memory of Mrs. Miller.

Raymond Hall

BISHOPVILLE -- Raymond Hall, 102, of Bishopville died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006.

A farmer for many years, he was born in Campbelltown, Md., to the late Hiram C. and Sarah L. Esham Hall. He also was preceded in death by his son, Darrell H. Hall, in 1995 and his grandson, David H. Hall, in 1994.

He is survived by three grandchildren, Suzanne H. Timmons of Ocean City, Ellen H. Lang of Berlin and Raymond H. Hall of Bishopville; four great-grandchildren, Denise Venable, Jennifer McCabe, Ray Hall Jr. and Emily Hall; two great-great-granddaughters, Maddie Farlow and Savannah McCabe; his daughter-in-law, Ruth Fisher Hall of Bishopville; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service was held at Lewis Cemetery in Whaleyville. The Rev. Jay Hurley officiated.

Donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802. Arrangements are being handled by Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville.

Christiane Tichon Liswell

OCEAN CITY -- Christiane Tichon Liswell, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at her home in Ocean City.

Born in Namua, Belgium, she was the daughter of the late Henri Tichon and Irma Stache Tichon.

Mrs. Liswell had been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Luke/St. Andrew Catholic Church in Ocean City, where she served on various committees and was the church historian. She was a member of the Women's Club of Ocean City, The Fifth Wheel Gang and the Barefoot Country Condo Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Liswell, in 1984.

She is survived by her sons, Bernard P. Liswell and his wife, Yvonne, of Denton, Jeffrey E. Liswell of Dover and Marc H. Liswell and his wife, Lynn, of Baltimore; and four grandchildren, Gregory Brooks Liswell, Brian Paul Liswell, Justin Liswell and Julieann Liswell.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church on 100th Street and Coastal Highway in Ocean City. Friends may call Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. A graveside service will be held Monday at noon at Parkwood Cemetery, 3310 Taylor Ave. in Baltimore.

Louise Elizabeth Boulware Horsey

MARION -- Louise Elizabeth Boulware Horsey, 84, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

Born in Blackstock, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Musco and Julia Boul-ware. Her late husband, Frederick N. Horsey, died in 2002.

She moved to Philadelphia in 1945, and was employed for 20 years with Philadelphia Quartermaster Defense Supply Depot, retiring in 1965.

She relocated to Marion in the early 70s and was a faithful member of Handy United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the Usher Board.

Her survivors include two children, Thomas Watkins and his wife, Ruth, of Philadelphia, and Laverne Watkins--Vanstory and her husband, Larry, of Marion Station; three grandchildren, Tammi, Michelle and Ameen; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Boulware and his wife, Marie; and three sisters, Orelia Boulware, Martha Vinson and Nancy Bannister and her husband, Samuel; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Handy United Methodist Church, where friends may call two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Mount Peer Cemetery in Marion Station.

Services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.

Maurice Elmer Cannon

BERLIN -- Maurice Elmer Cannon, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Maryland, he was the son of the late Percy Cannon and Catherine Slacum Cannon.

He is survived by his wife, Madelyn McCabe Cannon; two sons, Dennis K. Cannon of Frederick, Md., and Forrest K. Cannon of Berlin; two grandchildren, Amy Cannon Jones and Patricia Baltrotsky; and one great-grandchild, Cleo Jones.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Dennis Cannon, and two sisters, Frances Waller and Catherine Freeman.

Mr. Cannon had been a self-employed brick mason. He was a member and elder of Buckingham Presbyterian Church, a member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge No. 153 AF & AM in Berlin, a member of American Legion Post 123, a member of the VFW in Cambridge, a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, was 32nd degree Scottish Rite and was a member of the Boumi Temple. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, where friends may call one hour prior to the service and also tonight from 5 to 7 p.m., where a Masonic service will be held at 6:45 p.m. The Rev. Gary Baer will officiate. Interment will follow in Buckingham Presbyterian Cemetery in Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society, PO Box 48, Berlin, Md. 21811 or Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 9715 Healthway Drive, Berlin, Md. 21811.

Norma Edwina Coulston

SALISBURY -- Norma Edwina Coulston passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Milford Memorial Hospital after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

Born on June 30, 1911, in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late William and Norma Espich. She was preceded in death by Edward P. Coulston Sr., her husband of almost 60 years, whom she married Feb. 18, 1936.

She is survived by her son, Edward P. Coulston Jr.; daughter-in-law, Susan A. Coulston; and a grandson, Clay Coulston, all of Centreville, Md.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury. Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Boy Scouts of America, Troop 190, in care of Dr. George Dent, 8685 Commerce Drive, Easton, Md. 21601.

Mabel Dennis Kendall

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- Mabel Dennis Kendall, 90, of Salisbury died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at her daughter's home in Florida.

Born in Willards, she was the daughter of the late Willis Dennis and Amelia Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her son, Bayard Parsons, and daughters, Amelia Niemann and Ethel Shores.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Pickett or Ormond Beach; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret McCabe, Betty Kelly and Lois Vickers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home, 705 E. Main St. in Salisbury. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Wes Davis will officiate.

John T. Holt Jr.

NAPLES, Fla. -- John T. Holt Jr., 77, of Naples died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at Hospice of Naples.

Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late John T. Holt Sr. and the late Helen Moore Holt.

Mr. Holt grew up on the family's Homestead Dairy Farm in Salisbury. They were known for raising and showing horses, especially Tennessee Walking Horses. He attended the University of Maryland before entering the United States Army. Following his tour of duty, he returned home to manage the Homestead Dairy Farm, as well as building homes in the Salisbury area. In 1960, he founded Holt Paper & Chemical Co. In later years, he raised thoroughbred horses and raced them on the East Coast. After retirement in 1993 he moved to Naples. Mr. Holt was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and a former member of Greenhill Yacht & Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Emily Holt, of Naples; a son, John T. Holt III of Severna Park, Md.; two daughters, Ellen H. Bass of Madison, Ala., and Carol Ann Naarup of Salisbury; a sister, Anne Holt Waldron of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one niece.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Robert Lee Harris will officiate. Private interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802 or The Salvation Army, PO Box 3235, Salisbury, Md. 21802.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home at 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.
