Barbara Pruitt Gill

SALISBURY -- Barbara Pruitt Gill, age 71, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Ocean City, she was the daughter of the late George William Pruitt and Esther Birch Pruitt.

She had been employed for many years at Candy Kitchen in Ocean City.

She is survived by her son, Samuel Albert Gill and his wife, Terry; five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Samantha, Zachary, Aiden and Harlow Gill; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Jean Lokey.

A private burial was held in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester County Humane Society, PO Box 48, Berlin, Md. 21811.

Arrangements are by Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Christopher F. Connolly

SALISBURY -- Christopher F. Connolly, 30, of Salisbury died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at his home.

Born in Minneapolis, he was the son of Frank and Donna (Trump) Connolly of Salisbury.

Chris had a love of sports which began at the Salvation Army playing football and playing baseball at West Salisbury Little League. He played softball in the Wicomico County Softball League. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs and the University of Michigan football team.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Gina Williams and her husband, Bill, of Elkridge, Md., Jennifer Connolly of Salisbury and Allison Connolly of Wyomissing, Pa.; three brothers, Patrick Connolly, Nick Connolly and Sean Connolly, all of Salisbury; and a niece, Alexis, and nephews, Gabe and Ryan.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 9 and one hour prior to the service Friday. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Mr. Roy L. Marts

Roy Leighton Marts, 68, a resident of Chincoteague, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at Sentara Hospital.

Born and reared in Baltimore, Mr. Marts was the son of the late Charles Leighton Marts and Henrietta Jane Walton. He served in the Marines and was a supervisor for the Postal Service. He was a member of American Legion Post #159 and Passadena Moose Sergeant of Arms.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Fox & Holston Funeral Home, Chincoteague. The Rev. William Gregory and the Rev. Robert Reese will officiate.

Mr. Marts is survived by a son, Troy Marts of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Richard Sibley of Fulton, Texas; sister, Bernice Hodges of Dundalk, Md.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Scholarship Fund, Post 159, Chincoteague, VA 23336.

Arrangements were made by Fox & Holston Funeral Home, Chincoteague.

MABEL DENNIS KENDALL, 90, of Salisbury died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at her daughter's home in Florida. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

WILLIAM GEORGE MICHAEL, 77, of Jamesville, Va., and formerly of Milltown, N.J., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at his home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, PO Box 316, Parksley, Va. 23421. Arrangements are being handled by Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.

JANE ALLAN SMITH, 45, of Crisfield, and formerly of Alexandria, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. No formal services have been planned at this time. Arrangements are being handled by Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

CYNTHIA M. TAYLOR, 76, of Chincoteague died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 8 at Salyer Funeral Home in Chincoteague. Burial will be in Daisey Cemetery in Chincoteague. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, PO Box 316, Parksley, Va. 23421.

MARY ELIZABETH MEARS WARREN, 89, of Quinby, Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at her home. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Quinby Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Pat Bundick, PO Box 57, Quinby, Va. 23423 or Hospice of the Eastern Shore, PO Box 316, Parksley, Va. 23421. Arrangements are being handled by Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.

FRANCIS EDWARD WRIGHT, 84, of Cambridge died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 612 Locust St., Cambridge, Md. 21613.

Walter F. Lane Sr.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Walter F. Lane Sr., 62, of HC 75, Box 40, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian Medical Center, Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 15, 1934, in Aitch, Huntingdon County, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Verna Park Lane.

He had been a computer systems analyst for Letterkenny Army Depot until retiring in 1989. After retirement, he mowed lawns in the McConnellsburg area.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was stationed in Europe.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Lodge, McConnellsburg; Harrisburg Consistory; life member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.; Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club; Safari Club International; McConnellsburg American Legion; and McConnellsburg VFW.

He is survived by his wife, E. Marie Miller Lane, whom he married on June 29, 1957; two sons, Walter F. Lane Jr. of McConnellsburg and Joey L. Lane of Mercersburg, Pa.; four sisters, Gretchen Gwaltney of San Antonio, Lois Bard of McConnellsburg, Luella Keebaugh of Shade Gap, Pa., and Carol Love of Robertsdale, Pa.; two brothers, William G. Lane and Benjamin Lane, both of Hustontown, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Dora Keebaugh.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard, the Rev. Bill Spangler and Pastor Donald Ream will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Methodist Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service. The funeral home will be open Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m.

Joseph C. Stevenson

Joseph Charles Stevenson, 69, of 113 Parkway Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at his home.

Born March 14, 1928, in Richard, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Henry and Anna Mary Rae Stevenson.

He was employed by Conrail and Pennsylvania Railroad.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 378; No. 3 Junior Fire Co.; Railroad Retirees; and a former member of Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Oneida "Shorty" Kephart Stevenson; two daughters, Krista Forsyth and Melissa Stevenson, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Rodney Stevenson and Randall Stevenson, both of Hagerstown, and Brian Stevenson of Marlowe, W.Va.; five sisters, Anna Mary Grams and Loreda Elgin, both of Hagerstown, Christina Harris of Smithsburg, Lelia Larkin of Princess Anne, Md., and Jean Day of Westminster, Md.; two brothers, John Stevenson of Smithsburg and Morris Stevenson of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Ray Stevenson; and one sister, Delores Boward.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 226 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21742; or Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or to the charity of one's choice.

Cathryn E. Zeger

FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Cathryn E. Zeger, 78, of 11591 Lincoln Way West, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born July 14, 1918, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David W. and Mary Bain Heinbaugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnet R. Zeger, in 1985.

She was a member of Fort Loudon United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed seamstress work and quilting.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda J. Goetz of Chambersburg; one son, H. David Zeger of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one sister, Beulah H. McFadden of Chambersburg; one stepsister, Martha Hoy of Mechanicsburg; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fort Loudon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenneth E. Miller and the Rev. Ronald K. Strader will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.

Visitation will be at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the services Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to Fort Loudon United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1639 Appleway Road, St. Thomas, Pa. 17252.

Amy Cushman

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Amy Cushman, 71, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at her home.

Born Oct. 22, 1925, in Norfolk County, England, she was the daughter of the late John I. and Gertrude Watson Riches.

She served in the British Women's Royal Air Force during World War II.

She is survived by her husband, Gene R. Cushman; five daughters, Margaret Ann Kilbourn of Vale, N.C., Jane Elizabeth Krieger and Gillian Doreen Rutterford, both of England, Gale McInnes Martin and Jacqueline Denise Joiner, both of Florida; one son, Kimberly John Wilson of Kearneysville, W.Va.; three sisters, Mary Wiggins, Agnes Wiggins and Beryl Messer, all of England; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

William B. Pugh

BOONSBORO - William Benjamin "Bennie" Pugh, 89, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Home, and formerly of Roland Avenue in the Hamden section of Baltimore, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at the home.

Born Nov. 8, 1907, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William B. and Christina Amelia Schleiter Pugh.

He attended Shenandoah Academy SDA in Virginia.

He retired as a foreman with Belman Corp., near Baltimore.

His major interests were his community of Hamden and the Baltimore Orioles.

He is survived by one sister, Doris M. Fiol of Hagerstown; two nieces; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mamie Pugh.

Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Meadowridge Memorial Park, near Baltimore.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

Karl E. Horst

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Karl E. Horst, 73, of 855A Menno Village, and formerly of Green View Drive, Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at his home.

Born Sept. 5, 1923, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Abram S. and Gertrude Gehr Horst.

He had retired after 42 years as a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor in the Greencastle area.

He was a member of Cedar Grove Mennonite Church, near Greencastle.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel A. Oberholzer Horst, whom he married on July 19, 1947; one daughter, Carolyn Y. Meyer of Parker, Colo.; two sisters, Kathryn Christ of Lancaster, Pa., and Beulah Horst of Menno Village, Chambersburg; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church, 13343 Williamsport Pike, Greencastle. The Rev. Nelson Martin, Chaplain Vernon Isner and the Rev. Robert Cahill will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Benevolent Fund of Menno-Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
