Joan F. Hamilton

WILLIAMSPORT - Joan Flock Hamilton, 65, formerly of 16827 Hampton Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born May 1, 1932, in Cook County, Ill., she was the daughter of Irene A. Flock of Naperville, Fla., and the late Bernard J. Flock.

She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Baltimore.

She retired in 1996 from the Maryland Correctional Institution near Hagerstown, where was a counselor.

She attended St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Williamsport.

She was an accomplished equestrian.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Karen Jude Hamilton Bodine of Williamsport, and Joselyn Marie Hamilton Marquis of Baltimore; three sons, Cyril "Chris" Steven Hamilton of Hagerstown, Mark Joseph Hamilton of Wilton, Conn., and Timothy Damien Hamilton of Baltimore; one sister, Mary MacDonald of Yellow Springs, Ohio; two brothers, Donald Flock of Naples, Fla., and Richard Flock of Schallstadt, Germany; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Frank Joseph Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard J. Flock Jr.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1730 N. Market St., Frederick, Md. 21701.

Quentin A. Naugle

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Quentin A. Naugle, 50, of 50 Eisenhower Drive, Chambersburg, died Tuesday June 3, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 31, 1946, he was the son of Janet Mills Naugle of Chambersburg and the late Lloyd H. Naugle.

He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School, class of 1964.

He was a special project manager at Sprint/United Telephone Co. in Carlisle, Pa., where he worked for 29 years.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church, Marion, Pa.

He was a Chambersburg Borough Council member representing the third ward from 1983 to 1991. He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM, Chambersburg; Harrisburg Consistory of Harrisburg, Pa.; past president of Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club and a member of its Timberline Sporting Clays. He also was a member of Greencastle Sportsman Club; a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; post member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg; and the National Rifle Association.

He had been a hunting safety instructor.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sandra Fratscher Naugle, whom he married Oct. 17, 1976; four daughters, Shari L. Seilhamer of St. Thomas, Pa., Beth A. Cuff of Fort Loudon, Pa., Lisa M. Martz of Philadelphia and Michelle L. Naugle of Chambersburg; one son, Jeffrey A. Naugle of Gettysburg, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Marion United Methodist Church, Colorado Street, Marion, Pa. The Rev. John A. Ile Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 pm. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church.

Masonic services will be conducted by members of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM today at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.

Wilhelm E. Braun

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Wilhelm E. Braun, 92, of Windbrier Retirement Home and formerly of 423 Oley St. and 1026 Franklin St., Reading, Pa., died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born May 14, 1905, in Reutingen, Germany, he was the son of the late Heinrich and Mary Kitteberger Braun.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katharina Ibel Braun, on March 16, 1991.

He had been a cutter in the textile industry in the Reading area, and had been a resident of the Waynesboro area for the past two years.

He was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Reading, Pa.

He is survived by one son, Kurt E. Braun of Washington Township; one brother, Erwin Braun of Reutingen, Germany; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Reading. Burial will be in Gethesemane Cemetery, Laureldale, Pa.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m. at the John P. Feeney Funeral Home, 625 N. Fourth St., Reading, Pa.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 200 Reading Ave., West Reading, Pa. 19601.

Arrangements are by Snyder-Lochstamfor Funeral Home of Waynesboro.

Ernest L. Rudy

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Ernest Lawrence Rudy, 89, formerly of 3113 Old National Pike, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Frederick Healthcare Center.

Born Dec. 3, 1907, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Lawrence F. and Emma Remsburg Rudy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Wiles Rudy, in 1985.

He had been a farmer in the Middletown area. He retired in 1971 from Farmers Cooperative Association after 25 years. He and his wife operated Rudy's Motel west of Middletown from 1952 to 1964.

He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn F. Stine of Frederick, Md.; one son, Fred W. Rudy of Middletown; one sister, Frances Slifer of Middletown; one brother, Robert Rudy of Mapleville, Md.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ernestine Carey; one granddaughter, Lois Moore; and three brothers, Glen Rudy, Ralph Rudy and Richard Rudy.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

The family will receive friends today from noon to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Friends also will be received on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 306, Middletown, Md. 21769.

Alessio Cerri

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Alessio Cerri, 78, of 143 Mt. Union Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa..

Born Sept. 27, 1918, in Milan, Italy, he was the son of the late Battista and Domenica Pozzoli Cerri.

He had been employed for 13 years with Valley Baking Co. He retired in 1981 from Giant Foods.

He served with the military during World War II. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rickrode Cerri; one son, Anthony J. Cerri of Newport News, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

Richard R. Rosel

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Richard R. Rosel, 28, of 172 Colonial Drive, in Chambersburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born July 31, 1968, in New York City, he was the son of Dr. Romeo C. and Remedios Razon Rosel of Chambersburg.

He was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was attending the University of Pittsburgh, in Johnstown, Pa.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Acacia Fraternity at the University of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Rachael Rosel and Rowena Rosel both of Kutztown, Pa.; and one brother, Ronald R. Rosel of Chambersburg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home.

Gerald C. Staley, Jr.

Gerald Conrad "Jerry" Staley Jr., 48, of 15 Emmert Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at his home.

Born June 29, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of Jean Austin Staley Fletcher of Hagerstown and the late Gerald C. Staley.

He was employed at Electromet of Hagerstown.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Benedict Staley of Hagerstown; one daughter, Brenda Staley, at home; two sons, Gerald S. Staley III of Hagerstown and Mark Staley of Boonsboro; and two granddaughters.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Hulda B. Saville

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hilda Brown Saville, 72, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at her home.

Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late James Childers and Jennie Eshleman Childers Morgret.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph William Brown, and her second husband, Boyd Herman Saville.

She retired from Perfection Garment Co. after 27 years of service.

She is survived by one son, Larry W. Brown of Billings, Mont.; one daughter, Doris B. Avey of Martinsburg; two sisters, Waneda Jerischeid of Sayerville, N.J., and Margaret Smith of Hagerstown; two brothers, Raymond Childers and Henry Childers, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elma L. Brown; one son, Hartley E. Brown; six sisters, Helen Burton, Minnie Cowgill, Gertrude Cable, Mary Weir, Hazel Childers and Genevieve Peck; four brothers, Gilbert Childers, Frank Childers, Ernest Childers and Harry Childers.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beulah F. A. Green

Beulah Florence Ardinger Green, 71, of 11122 Mountain View Circle, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at her daughter's home in Boonsboro.

Born May 19, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Sylvia Irene Bowers Ardinger.

She retired from Maryland Ribbon Co. in 1988 after 22 years.

She was a member of Grace Brethren Church.

She was a member of National Audubon Society and Conococheague Naturalists.

She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Green Sr.; one daughter, Anna Gay Green Miner of Boonsboro; one son, Robert B. Green Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Ruth M. Mills of Williamsport; one brother, John E. Ardinger of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Louise Green and Beverly Lou Green; two sisters, Helen Reed and Mary Louise Ardinger; and two brothers, Ralph Ardinger and Kermit Ardinger.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert L. Dell will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
