Paul E. Nigh

Paul E. Nigh, 77, of 19921 Sheridan Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at his home.

Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles H. "Bud" and Martha E. Delauter Nigh.

He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Vivian Henson Nigh, on May 28, 1997.

He was a retired employee of Danzer Metal Works. He had previously worked at Fairchild Aircraft.

He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.

He was a member and past commander of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; Forty & Eight of Western Maryland and was past Washington County commander; member of World War II Last Man's Club; Friendship Lodge 84 A.F.&A.M.; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown; Sportsman Club; and North American Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah S. Miner of Brookville, Ind.; two sons, Paul N. Nigh of Cincinnati and Robert E. Nigh of Hagerstown; one sister, Frances "Jenny" Karn of Hagerstown; two brothers, Richard W. Nigh of Funkstown and Edwin L. Nigh of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard "Tiny" Nigh.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. Military honors will be conducted by Morris Frock Post 42 at the funeral home and cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m., where a Masonic memorial service will be at 6 p.m.

Page P. Roher

WELLS TANNERY, Pa. - Page Paul Roher, 82, of RD 2, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born March 30, 1915, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Samuel and Lessie Repp Roher.

He retired in 1972 from Snyder Brothers Trucking Co., Harrisburg, Pa., after working 37 years as a truck driver. He later was a bus driver for Forbes Road School District for 12 years. He also farmed.

He was a member of Hustontown Church of God, Hustontown, Pa.

He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 776, Harrisburg; Sideling Hill Coon Hunters Club and Fulton County Saddle and Rodeo Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth V. Hawbaker Roher, whom married on Dec. 25, 1935; four daughters, Betty June Roher Berkstresser of Harrisonville, Pa., Patricia Roher Johnson of Mount Airy, Md., Sally Roher Bohn of Greencastle, Pa., and Ruth Roher Fraker of Fort Littleton, Pa.; one brother, Edwin Roher of Haines City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hustontown Church of God, Hustontown. The Rev. Belvy White, the Rev. Robert Timmons and the Rev. John Warner will officiate. Burial will be in Welsh Run Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Welsh Run Road, Mercersburg, Pa.

Friends may call at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co., Hustontown, Pa. 17229.

J. Ira Plum

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - J. Ira Plum, 86, of 10894 Grindstone Hill Road, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.

Born May 29, 1911, in Antrim Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel and Fannie Gearhart Plum.

He was employed as a welder by Frick Co. in Waynesboro for 47 years and retired in 1976.

He was a member of Greencastle Church of the Brethren.

He was a social member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion, Greencastle; and member of National AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Viola M. Daley Plum; one daughter, Shirley M. Robinson of Louisiana; one son, Ira Eugene Plum of Greencastle; two sisters, Frances Wagaman and Helen L. Plum, both of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Plum and Clifford Plum; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Donald Plank and the Rev. Robert Thacker will officiate. Burial will be in Shank's Church of the Brethren Cemetery, near Greencastle.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Greencastle Church of the Brethren, 36 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225.

Harvey V. Stouffer

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Harvey Victor Stouffer, 85, of Charles Town, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Feb. 15, 1912, in Reading, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey Elias and Julia Kathryn Hoffman Stouffer.

He was a 1934 graduate of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, where he received a doctorate of pharmacy degree, and was a member of the Alumni Association PCPS and Kappa Psi Fraternity.

He retired after 60 years, during which he worked as chief pharmacist in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., from 1934 to 1946; then at Washington Pharmacy in Ranson, W.Va.; Moffett's Pharmacy in Charles Town, from 1952 to 1964, and Stuck and Alger's Pharmacy from 1964 to 1988.

He was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church, and was a deacon and elder.

He also was a member of Lodge 155 A.M.&F.M. in Thurmont, Md.; Good Samaritan Royal Arch in Gettysburg, Pa.; Gettysburg Commandry No. 79 and Osiris Temple in Wheeling, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Eisenhart Stouffer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Charles Town Presbyterian Church in Charles Town. Keith Nickle will officiate.

Robert E. Routzahn

Robert Eugene Routzahn, 63, of 107 Sunflower Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, June 16, 1997, at his home.

Born April 30, 1934, in Ellerton, Md., he was the son of Janerio Marshall Routzahn, a resident of Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro, and the late Ross Elias Routzahn.

He was a 1952 graduate of Middletown High School.

He was employed by Roadway Express, retiring in 1989. He previously owned Sinclair Service Station, Middletown, Md.

He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren.

He was a member of Columbia Lodge 58 A.F.&A.M. and Mason-Dixon Antique Car Club.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Fay Royer Routzahn; one daughter, Pamela J. Tucker of Hagerstown; one son, Charles "Bud" Routzahn of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Janice Hummer of Frederick, Md.; three grandchildren; and a special friend, Nickie Routzahn, who helped take care of him.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., where a Masonic service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home today after 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11318 Meeting House, Myersville, Md. 21772.

Charles R. Bryan

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Charles R. Bryan, 24, of 24 N. Park Ave., died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.

Born April 3, 1973, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was a son of Carl W. and Jean Robinson Bryan of Mercersburg.

He was employed by Mercersburg Academy in the maintenance department.

He attended Clayton Memorial Church of God, Mercersburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Erica Bryan, and his fiancee April Cook, both of Shippensburg, Pa.; three sisters, Vanessa Pine of Mercersburg, Dawn Rottcher of Waynesboro, Pa., and Carla DeShong of Fort Loudon, Pa.; and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Bryan of Mercersburg.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Clayton Memorial Church of God, Mercersburg. The Rev. Kelly Shope and the Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund in care of Erica Bryan, 24 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa. 17236.

Dorothy L. Flagle

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Dorothy L. Flagle, 82, formerly of 560 Loudon Road, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Dec. 4, 1914, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was raised by her grandparents, the late David and Emma Lenherr Shatzer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Flagle, in 1971.

She was employed by Squire Greenawalt as a storekeeper and housekeeper in Lemasters, Pa.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Shelby Dittman of Newport News, Va., Doris Rock of St. Thomas and Joyce Suffecool of Greencastle, Pa.; and three granddaughters.

A private graveside will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Rev. Samuel J. Troyer will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to Menno Haven Nursing Home, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or American Cancer Society, Franklin County Unit, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Gilbert T. Crone

SLEEPY CREEK, W.Va. - Gilbert Troy Crone, 81, of Sleepy Creek, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born April 17, 1916, in Sleepy Creek, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Dora Belle Albright Crone.

He worked as a trapper and as a laborer at orchards in the Sleepy Creek area.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Pearl Spriggs, Mabel Rebecca Stevens and Anna Blanche Tritapoe; three brothers, Samuel Lester "Red" Crone, John Lloyd "Buck" Crone and Harry B. "Chub" Crone; and by his foster parents, Peter and Carrie Warrenfeltz Crone.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crosswords Cemetery, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Wayde A. Smith

BOONSBORO - Wayde Andrew Smith, 30, of 7827 Sharpsburg Pike, died Monday, June 16, 1997, in Sharpsburg due to injuries received in an auto accident.

Born Dec. 22, 1966, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Wayne Arguel and Nancy Jean Leatherman Smith of Boonsboro.

He was employed by Swope's Masonry, Boonsboro.

He was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Wayde Andrew Smith Jr., Smithsburg; two sisters, Barbara J. Warrenfeltz of Fairplay and Donna M. Huntzberry of Boonsboro; three brothers, Michael Wayne Smith and Allen William Smith, both of Boonsboro, and Randy Lynn Smith of Charles Town, W.Va.; maternal grandmother, Hazel M. Leatherman of Sharpsburg; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
