Vivian M. Spoonire

INWOOD, W.Va. - Vivian M. Spoonire, 76, of Inwood, and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Nov. 13, 1920, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late David and Emma Goetz Minnich.

She was formerly employed by Spitz Potato, Fairchild, Breyers and Dillers Potato Chips.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Orville H. Spoonire; one daughter, Linda Murphy of East Berlin, Pa.; one son, E. Leon Filer of Zanesville, Ohio; two stepsons, Ronald C. Spoonire of Hagerstown and Glen D. Spoonire of Smithsburg; two brothers, Johne Minnich of Greencastle, and Thomas Minnich of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita L. Filer; premature twins; and two brothers, Jacob O. Minnich and David Minnich.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

K. Aubrey Arnold

FREDERICK, Md. - K. Aubrey Arnold, 76, of Grant Place, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at his home.

Born Nov. 26, 1920, in Yarrowsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Howard Bartlett and Ruth Evelyn Colter Arnold.

He was employed with Frederick Iron and Steel.

A veteran of World War II, he served as a radio technician for the Army Air Corps in the Philippines.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Frederick.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Trout Arnold; two stepsons, George C. Cavenee and Kim L. Cavenee; one sister, Doris Droneburg; one brother, Wayne Arnold; and grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 217 Dill Ave., Frederick. The Rev. Larry L. Eubanks and the Rev. Burnis D. Barrett will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 217 Dill Ave., Frederick, Md. 21701.

Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Earl J. Souders

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Earl J. Souders, 27, of R.D. 1, died in an automobile accident Sunday, June 22, 1997, south of Harrisonville, Pa.

Born Nov. 10, 1969, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Joseph L. Souders of Dallas, Pa., and Helen Barthalow Barnhart of McConnellsburg. He was a stepson of Roy G. Barnhart of McConnellsburg.

He was employed by American Stairs in St. Thomas, Pa.

In addition to his parents and stepfather, he is survived by his wife, Billie Plessinger Souders of McConnellsburg; two daughters, Mersedez Souders, at home, and Cassandra Souders of Chambersburg; one son, Earl Souders Jr. of Chambersburg; two sisters, Helen Straley of St. Thomas, Pa., and Zella Shields of McConnellsburg; and one brother, Joseph L. Souders II of York, Pa.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Assembly of God Church in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg.

There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Assembly of God Church, West Maple Street, McConnellsburg, Pa. 17233.

Arrangements are by Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Pansy E.B. Kline

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Pansy E. Bloom Kline, 80, of 10365 Fish and Game Road, died Friday, June 20, 1997, at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va.

Born March 1, 1917, in the Fairview area, near Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Milton A. and Dora V. Misner Bloom.

Her husband, Delvin M. Kline, died in 1979. They were married in January 1934.

She was employed by Waynesboro Hospital in the dietary department for 40 years, retiring in 1993.

She attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Waynesboro, and the adult Sunday school class of the church.

She also was a member of Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and National AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Anna L. Sites of Chambersburg; two sons, Richard A. Kline of Waynesboro, and Gerald E. Kline of Downey, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert D. Kline and Glen A. Kline; one brother, John A. Bloom; and one granddaughter.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Dwan N. Newsome and the Rev. Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, 501 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Paul L. Morrison

Paul Luther Morrison, 78, of Sky View Lane, Hagerstown, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Monday, June 23, 1997, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born Jan. 10, 1919, at Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Clyde and Anna May Stottlemyer Morrison.

He retired in 1982 from Westinghouse Defense Systems in Hunt Valley, Md.

He was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.

He is survived by his wife, C. Delores "Mildred" Byers Morrison, whom he married Dec. 12, 1942; one son, Douglas E. Morrison of Columbia, Md.; four sisters, Louise Boyer of Jefferson, Md., Anna Belle Staubs of Hagerstown, Patricia Moser of Boonsboro, and Margaret Schroyer of Middletown, Md.; three grandchildren; two aunts; eight nieces; five nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Morrison and Betty Morrison.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. John W. Zsittnik will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Harry Rommeney Jr.

BOONSBORO - Harry Rommeney Jr., 66, of 9355 Childacrest Drive, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 5, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harry Sr. and Emma Baumann Rommeney.

He was a retired employee of Western Union and later retired from Food Lion Grocery Store on Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two nieces, Susan P. Patrey of Boonsboro, and Kathleen DeLosReyes of Shirley, N.Y.; one nephew, Edward H. Baulch of Syosset, N.Y.; three great-nieces; five great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria E. Baulch.

Services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Dominics Roman Catholic Church, 96 Anstice St., Oyster Bay, N.Y. The Rev. Paul Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y.

Friends may call at DeVine Funeral Home, 293 South St., Oyster Bay, N.Y., Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospital, Cardiac Surgery Unit, Towson, Md. 21204.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Steven E. Groce

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Steven E. Groce, 17, of HCR 75, Box 83, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, in Licking Creek Township, Fulton County, Pa.

Born May 25, 1980, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of Karen Kylor Groce of McConnellsburg, Norman E. Groce Jr. of Altoona, Pa., and Denise S. Bush Groce, also of Altoona.

He would have been a 10th grade student at McConnellsburg High School in the fall.

He attended Brethren in Christ Church in Canoe Creek, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Amy Marie Groce of Huntingdon, Pa., and Heather Marie Hoover of Altoona; and one brother, Scott Alan Kylor of McConnellsburg.

Services will be held Wednesday at Daniel Myers Funeral Home in Altoona. Burial will be in Alto Rest Cemetery in Altoona.

The family will receive friends at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open today from 2 to 9 p.m.

Ethel C.M. Hammond

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Ethel Conard McKee Hammond, 85, of Shepherdstown, died Monday, June 23, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Born Nov. 23, 1911, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Olin C. and Azemia Crowl McKee.

Her husband, Thomas William Hammond, died in 1988.

She retired after 33 years with Shepherdstown Post Office in Shepherdstown.

She was a member of Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church in Shepherdstown, and the Women's Circle of the church.

She was a former member of Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Shepherdstown, and Molers Crossroads Farm Extension Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Fincham of Shepherdstown; one son, William G. Hammond of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Mary E. Brady of Shepherdstown, and Margaret Anne Grove of Sharpsburg; one brother, Edgar O. McKee of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church in Shepherdstown. The Rev. Grace Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown.

Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family will meet at Ethel Hammond's residence on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. before proceeding to the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box F, Shepherdstown, W.Va. 25443.

Mary A. Silver

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Ann Silver, 94, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at City Hospital.

Born July 2, 1902, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John W.A. and Flora Belle Freshour Courtney.

Her husband, Renzie Silver, preceded her in death.

She was a retired seasonal employee at C.H. Musselman Co.

She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

She also was a member of Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathryne S. McDonald of Phoenix, and Flora Lee Ling of Cleveland; one son, Renzie D.C. Silver of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Eileen D. Wright; one sister, Lillian "Lilly" Otto; and five brothers, Lara Courtney, Max Courtney, Roy Courtney, John Courtney and Morgan Courtney.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
