CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Gladys Virginia Houser, 71, who died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va., is survived by her husband, Ernest Houser Jr., whom she married Aug. 11, 1951.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

A memorial service for Ray Edward "Bill" DeVault, 71, of 17543 York Road, Hagerstown, who died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Betty P. Smith
Betty Patricia Smith, 62, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 28, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Emilio and Cynthia Cole Falcone.
She was formerly employed by Frederick County, Md., government and Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Battlefield Bible Church.
She was member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald C. Smith, whom she married Nov. 17, 1955; one sister, Lorraine J. Ruch of Willow Grove, Pa.; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Falcone.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Henry Lutz and the Rev. Rob Slone will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Margaret L. Dodson
KNOXVILLE, Md. - Margaret Lorraine Dodson, 71, of 203 Knoxville Road, Knoxville, died Friday, June 27, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Feb. 15, 1926, in Weverton, she was a daughter of the late Daniel E. Munday and Annie Katherine Moss Munday.
She was member of Weverton Baptist Church, Weverton.
She is survived by four daughters, Connie E. Miller and Vicki J. Cox, both of Knoxville, Susan Leopold of Brunswick, Md., and Virginia S. Piper of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; two sons, Milton L. Miller of Yarrowsburg, Md., and Richard L. Miller of Boonsboro; one sister, Bertha Marshall of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Charles Munday of Mountain Lake Park, Md.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one foster son, Robert E. Tucker; four sisters; and four brothers.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Arthur W. Oller
RINGGOLD - Arthur Woodring Oller, 64, of 14403 Barkdoll Road, Ringgold, who died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at home, returned to Landis Tool Co. after serving in the U.S. Navy.
He completed his journeyman's training and stayed at Landis Tool until his retirement.
There will be no viewing.
Joseph T. Hartle
Joseph T. Hartle, 76, of Matthew Court, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 25 at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Nov. 20, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Jacob T. and Essie M. Benner Hartle.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during World War II. He was employed at the U.S. Post Office in Hagerstown, retiring in 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Georgie E. Weagley Hartle; one daughter, Georgie Lynn Cunningham of Smithsburg; two grandsons, Anthony W. Cunningham of Union City, N.J., and Troy L. Cunningham of Hagerstown; and five great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Cleatus M. Starliper
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Cleatus M. Starliper, 78, of 6963 Charlestown Road, Mercersburg, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 21, 1918, in Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was a son of the late Charles M. and Florence Pensinger Starliper.
He was owner and operator of a dairy farm and Starliper's Orchards.
He was a member of Clayton Memorial Church of God, Mercersburg.
He was a member of Interstate Milk Producers Association for 25 years. He was a former member and treasurer of the Franklin County Horticulture Society.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, the banjo and bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Cecyl M. Keefer Starliper, whom he married Jan. 1, 1941; two daughters, Shirley A. Winters and Nancy L. Miller, both of Mercersburg; a son, Darold M. Starliper of Mercersburg; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Centha Brant.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Clayton Memorial Church of God. The Rev. Kelly Shope and the Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.

Vera K. Hutzell
BOONSBORO - Vera Kathleen Hutzell, 86, a resident of Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro, and formerly of 101 Lakin Ave., Boonsboro, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at the home.
Born June 7, 1911, in Boonsboro, she was a daughter of the late Russell L. and Clara Smith Hutzell.
She had retired after 43 years with the Washington County Board of Education. She had taught in Boonsboro Elementary School, Roxbury School and Mount Carmel School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Boonsboro. She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by one sister, Marie Athey of Boonsboro; one brother, Clifford L. Hutzell of Boonsboro; two nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel I. Hutzell; one brother, Merle Hutzell; and a nephew.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. John W. Zsittnik will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Louise H. Linn
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Louise H. Linn, 83, of 1182 Stanley Ave., Chambersburg, died Friday, June 27, 1997, at Menno Haven, Chambersburg.
Born June 2, 1914, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late F.H. Lynch and Irma Virginia Rollins Lynch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold N. Linn.
She was a beautician for more than 60 years. She operated Linn's Beauty Shop, Chambersburg, for more than 33 years.
She was member Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.
She was former member of American Business Women's Association, Chambersburg; Ladies Auxiliary of BPO Elks Lodge 600, Chambersburg; Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara F. Bard of Chambersburg; one son, Gary G. Linn of Newark, Del; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Guy E. Hann
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Guy E. Hann, 65, Rural Route 2, McConnellsburg, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center.
Born March 13, 1932, in Needmore, Pa., he was a son of the late Charley D.E. Hann and Irene Mellott Hann.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after 35 years of service.
He served in U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was member of the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church.
He was a member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Kitty Shriver Hann, whom he married June 18, 1960; one sister, Maxine McClure of Salem, N.C.; four brothers, Chalmer L. Hann of McConnellsburg, Veryl J. Hann, Norman C. Hann and Herman W. Hann, all of Needmore; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.
Viewing will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Jesse L. Landis
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Jesse Leroy Landis, 58, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
He attended the old Bloomery Schoolhouse, Bloomery, W.Va.
He worked as a truck driver with Eddie's Tire Service, Berkeley Springs, for 28 years.
He served in U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later served in the Virginia National Guard.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He bowled with the Eddie's Tire Service team; the Wednesday night Fraternal League; the Eliminator's team; and with the Sunday night Team Pinners League at Berkeley Springs Bowlerama.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Kay Sipes Landis, at home; one daughter, Tina Landis of Stephens City, Va.; four sons, Phillip Landis of Bloomery, W.Va., Richard Landis of Front Royal, Va., Timothy Landis of Augusta, W.Va., and Jeffrey Landis of Bloomery, Va.; five sisters, Aggie Somers of Berkeley Springs, Hazel Kerns of Winchester, Va., Frances Sager of Whitacre, Va., Blanche Landis of California and Joanne Cobas of Renick, W.Va.; two brothers, Burly Landis of Hedgesville, W.Va., and James Landis of Whitacre; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marge Yost; and one brother, Walter Landis.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Eugene Harne and the Rev. Anthony A Wadsworth will officiate. Burial will be in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pa.
