Thelma V. Snyder
Thelma Virginia Snyder, 82, of 17830 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.
Born Aug. 20, 1914, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Franklin J. and Susan R. Russell.
She was employed as a legal secretary for several attorneys, including her first husband, Calvert K. Hartle, who died in 1949.
She owned and operated Hartle Business Service. She also was secretary and court reporter for administrative judges in the Circuit Court for Washington County, retiring in 1985. She last worked with Judge Frederick C. Wright III.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.
She also was a member of National AARP; and Ladies of the Elks 378.
She is survived by her husband, Lee G. Snyder; and several cousins.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald R. Moul will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Reformed Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Anna K. Karper
QUINCY, Pa. - Anna E. Karper, 90, formerly of Mercersburg, Pa., died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home, where she was a resident.
Born Nov. 15, 1906, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Jennie Campbell Karper. She was the stepdaughter of the late Hanna Forster Karper.
She was a graduate of the former Mercersburg High School.
She attended Church Home Infirmary Nursing School in Baltimore.
She worked in Baltimore before retiring and returning to Mercersburg. She later worked as a private duty nurse in Mercersburg.
She was a member of Mercersburg Presbyterian Church.
She is the last of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.
Thomas Picone
SPRING HILL, Fla. - Thomas Picone of Spring Hill died Wednesday, June 18, 1997.
Born in Paterson, N.J., he moved to Florida three years ago from Maryland.
He was a retired liaison engineer for Mack Trucks.
A veteran of World War II, he was a U.S. Air Force officer.
He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 378; and American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Picone; one son, Kenneth Picone of Pinehurst, N.C.; one sister, Jean De Rosa of Toms River, N.J.; one brother, John Picone of Puerto Rico; and one granddaughter.
Arrangements were by Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill.
E. Anne Thayer
TITUSVILLE, Fla. - E. Anne Thayer, of Titusville, and formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Dec. 13, 1996, in Titusville.
Born in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Shirley.
She was of the Episcopal faith.
She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Thayer; and one sister, Sydney Shirley.
A memorial graveside service will be Thursday, July 3, at 2 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church Cemetery, Charles Town. The Rev. John Alfriend will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Glenn S. Sease
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Glenn S. Sease, 78, of 10650 Grindstone Hill Road, died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Sept. 28, 1918, in Rouzerville, Pa., he was the son of the late Byron S. and Ruth Zentmyer Sease.
He graduated from Waynesboro High School and attended trade school in Baltimore.
He was first employed at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown in the tool and dye department for 19 years. Prior to retiring in 1987, he was employed at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown as a tool maker for 25 years.
He attended Antrim Assembly of God Church, Greencastle.
He also was a member of Waynesboro Fish and Game Association.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Virginia Wolfe Sease, whom he married May 15, 1943; two daughters, Deborah A. Sherrill of Greencastle, and Kathy M. Bierly of Waynesboro, Pa.; one son, Robert G. Sease of Waynesboro; one sister, Viola Wolfe of Hagerstown; one brother, Mark Sease of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Orville Sease.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Antrim Assembly of God Church, 11192 Bemisderfer Road, Greencastle. The Rev. Rodger Berkey will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
George M. Damm
WILLIAMSPORT - George Millard Damm, 88, of 16505 Virginia Ave., C-135, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at Homewood Nursing Center, Williamsport.
He was born Nov. 21, 1908, in Ellicott City, Md.
His first wife, Eleanor Damm, preceded him in death.
He was the former regional director for United Insurance Company of America.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
He was active in many other community organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Damm; one daughter, Jean A. Safford of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, David Damm of Greenville, N.C., Sherna Safford of La Mesa, Calif., Derrick Damm of Boone, N.C., and Jason Safford of Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by one son, G. Ronald Damm.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Homewood Retirement Center, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport. The Rev. Willard Rahn will officiate. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation or viewing.

John R. Bingham
KNOXVILLE, Md. - John R. "Jack" Bingham, 79, of 19500 Garretts Mills Road, Knoxville, Md., died June 30, 1997, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born April 7, 1918, in Weverton, he was the son of the late Abner B. and Annie L. Robosson Bingham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Youngins Pace Bingham.
He retired from Fairchild Aircraft.
He was an honorary member of Pleasant Valley Ruritan.
He is survived by three stepsons, Don Pace of Gooseneck, S.C., Steve Pace of Deltona, Fla., and Chris Williams, of the U.S. Navy; one brother, James R. Bingham of Frederick, Md.; step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Wendell McClellan and the Rev. Tom Fralin will officiate. Burial will be in old Brownsville Cemetery, Brownsville, Md.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home.

Bertha J. Rouzer
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Bertha Josephine Rouzer, 86, of Clinton Avenue, died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Raymond and Josephine Shoemaker of Clinton Avenue, with whom she resided.
Born Sept. 14, 1910, in Hustontown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David E. and Josephine E. Chesnut Strait.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Rouzer, in 1990.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Josephine Shoemaker of Chambersburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers and one grandson.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. Bishop Bobby Fike will officiate. Burial will be in Hustontown Cemetery, Hustontown.
Friends may call at the funeral home today one hour prior to the service.

Edith Leah Harsh
WILLIAMSPORT - Edith Leah Harsh, 88, of 10530 Peach Tree Lane, Williamsport, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1909, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan Henson and Anna Ellen McCardell Bowser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nelson Harsh.
She was a homemaker. She previously was employed by G.A. Miller Lumber Co. as bookkeeper.
She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Williamsport.
She was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion Auxiliary, Williamsport.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Nell Buckley of Williamsport; one son, Michael G. Harsh of Williamsport; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, the Rev. Charles B. Harsh; and two brothers, Eugene Bowser and Ernest N. Bowser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williamsport.
Friends may call at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, today from 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The funeral home will be open today after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
