Suzanne F. Billerbeck

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Suzanne "Louise" Fogerty Billerbeck, 96, a resident of St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg, and formerly of Fairview Avenue, Waynesboro, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, Pa.

She was in failing health for the past two years.

Born Dec. 13, 1900, in Greensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Francis Patrick and Mary Josephine Scanlan Fogerty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfrid J. Billerbeck, whom she married Nov. 27, 1926.

She was a 1917 graduate of Greensburg High School, Greensburg. She received her bachelor of science degree from Randoph-Macon Women's College, Lynchburg, Va., in 1921. She completed studies at Columbia University and New York University, New York City.

Before her marriage, she was employed as middle school teacher in Emporia, Va., and Barnesboro, Pa.

She was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro, Pa.

She is survived by three daughters, Elinor O'Connell of College Park, Md., M. Patrician Bowman of Luray, Va., and Joan Billerbeck of Greenbelt, Md.; one son, W.J. Billerbeck Jr. of North Bethesda, Md., and Kent Island, Md.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two nieces; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; and one granddaughter and one grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. Father Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rosary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be sent St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268, or Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Linda M. D. Albert

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Linda May Dunlap Albert, 90, of Martinsburg, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born April 11, 1907, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Albert M. and Daisy V. Bennett Swartz.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Austin C. Dunlap, in 1972; and her second husband, John Ed Albert, in 1984.

She was a homemaker.

She was a seasonal worker at the Musselman plant.

She was a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Ethel Dawson and Dottie Moore, both of Middleway, W.Va., Helen Seal of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Lucille Abshire of Inwood, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Pat Collis of Inwood; one sister, Della Dunlap of Clearbrook, Va.; two brothers, Harvey Swartz of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Paul Swartz of Winchester, Va.; 14 grandchildren; one step-grandson; 25 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ernest Swartz, Melvin Swartz, Elmer Swartz, Lawrence Swartz, Luther Swartz, Roy Swartz and Donald Lee Swartz; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg. The Rev. Louise Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary C. A. Moore-Nicely

Mary C. Adams Moore-Nicely, 60, of Hagerstown, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 21, 1937, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine Lease Adams.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald W. Moore, to whom she was married for 27 years; and her second husband, Henry Lee Nicely.

She is survived by one sister, Joanne L. Maples of Hagerstown, who lived and took care of her until her death; one brother, Larry G. Patton of Baltimore; one great-niece; three stepdaughters, Joy Smith of Ridgeley, W.Va., Carol Butler of Cumberland and Donna Bohman of Hagerstown; one niece; and one nephew.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland. The Rev. Merdith C. Shryock will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home.

E. L. Porter

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - E. Louise Porter, 90, of Penn Hall Manor and formerly of North Sixth Street, Chambersburg, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at Penn Hall Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 2, 1906, in Shippensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Zua Fenstermacher Feldman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Porter, in 1953.

She as a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Robert S. Porter of Milwaukee, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Jean Kies and Kathryn McBeath, both of McConnellsburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Building Fund, St. Paul United Methodist Church, E. Queen Street, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are being made by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Robert A. Stottlemyer

Robert Arnold Stottlemyer, 64 of 11110 Nursery Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 18, 1932, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of his stepmother, Katherine Stottlemyer of Hagerstown; and the late Paul S. and Sarah V. Bartles Stottlemyer.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was retired from Western Maryland Railroad.

He was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Williamsport.

He was a member of Brotherhood of Signal Men Railroad Union; Morris Frock American Legion Post 42; Elks Lodge Post 378; and Korean Veterans Last Mans Club of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

In addition to his stepmother, he is survived by his wife, Margaret Ellen Stottlemyer; two daughters, Lorre E. Stottlemyer of Frederick, Md., and Linda D. Hunter of El Paso, Texas; one son, Robert A. Stottlemyer Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Margaret K. Jackson and Tinalynn G. Kline, both of Hagerstown; five stepsons, Michael A. Kochera of Hancock and Robert J. Kochera, Andrew S. Kochera, Guy D. Seiler and Kelley E. Seiler, all of Hagerstown; three sisters, Dorothy L. Williar of Hagerstown, Mary C. Cameron of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Betty J. Witmer of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, Paul C. Stottlemyer of Cypress, Calif., and Roger L. Stottlemyer of Hagerstown; one stepsister, Sue Kenny of Alexandria, Va.; one stepbrother, Charles Chaney of Hagerstown; and 16 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Graveside military honors will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Millard M. Dansberger

Millard Marshall Dansberger, 86, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 16, 1911, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late George W. and Catherine Yinger Dansberger.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was retired from the Frederick News and Post. He was previously employed by Tiboli and Frederick City Opera House as motion picture operator.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lulu Hunichen Dansberger; two daughters, Fay Miller of Hagerstown and Shirley Boyer of Frederick; one sister, Catherine Bond of Reisterstown, Md.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Diabetes Association, 407 Central Ave., Reisterstown, Md. 21136.

Arrangements are made by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Allen R. Flurie

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Allen R. Flurie, 81, of 147 E. McKinley St., died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg.

Born Dec. 23, 1915, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Abram R. and Sarah Madison Flurie.

His wife, Ruth A. Barkdoll Flurie, preceded him in death.

He was a 1933 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He was a freight agent in Culbertson, Pa., with Western Maryland Railway, retiring in July 1978, after 41 years of service.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chambersburg.

He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM in Chambersburg for 50 years; George Washington Royal Arch Chapter 176 in Chambersburg for 50 years; a charter member of George Washington Council 66 in Chambersburg; a member and past superior excellent master of St. John's Council No. 5 in Carlisle, Pa., a member and past commander of Continental Commandry No. 56 in Chambersburg; and a member of Erin Council Knight Masons No. 6 in Harrisburg, Pa., Soverign Council No. 103 Allied Masonic Degrees of Hanover, Pa., Scottish Rite Club in Harrisburg, and Shippensburg Scottish Rite Club in Shippensburg.

He served as a Scoutmaster of Troop 140 in Greenvillage, Pa. During his Boy Scouting career he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow and the Order of the Little Bear. He received the Order of Merit from Keystone Area Council, Boy Scouts of America in 1956. He later served as the neighborhood commission to Boy Scout Troop 140.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon L. Mayer and Patricia A. Hoyer, both of Chambersburg; two sisters, Esther Harne of Boonsboro and Bessie Burns of Hagerstown; three brothers, Charles Flurie of Upton, Pa., Eugene Flurie of Hagerstown and Abram Flurie of Fairplay; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery in Rouzerville, Pa. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery in Rouzerville, with a masonic service conducted by members of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Harbaugh Church Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 53, Rouzerville, Pa. 17250.

Blanche A. Barr

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Blanche A. Barr, 86, of 3091 Barr Road, died Sunday, July 13, 1997, at her home.

Born May 23, 1911, in Antrim Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late B. Frank and Laura E. Snyder Angle.

Her husband, Walter C. Barr, died in 1980. They were married Oct. 28, 1933.

She was a 1929 graduate of Waynesboro High School and was in the top 10 of her class. She then attended Waynesboro Business School.

She was employed by Harmon's Furniture in Waynesboro, as a clerk. During World War II, she worked at Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro, as a die maker.

She and her husband were engaged in farming for a number of years. She then worked at Doubleday Publishing Co. in Smithsburg, as a proofreader for 15 years, where she also taught proofreading prior to her retirement in 1973.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, since she was 7 years old. She served in various positions in the church including the administration board, council of ministries, altar guild, United Methodist Women and the kitchen committee. She also taught Sunday school in the primary department for many years and last taught the Mens' Bible Class.

She is survived by five daughters, Fern B. Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Connie E. Tracey, Dorothy C. Houpt and Lorraine C. Burcker, all of Greencastle, and Carolyn I. Wagaman of Palm City, Fla.; two sons, W. Ronald Barr and Frank C. Barr, both of Greencastle; 23 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert A. Barr; and two brothers, Harry Angle and Roy S.F. Angle.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro. Pastor Lynn Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.
