Hilda F.L. Detter
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hilda Florence Lentz Detter, 83, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born June 30, 1914, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Olen Arthur and Cora Virginia Morrow Lentz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Detter, who died in 1968.
She was formerly employed by Perfection Garment Co., where she worked for 30 years.
She was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren.
She was a member of Martinsburg Women of Moose 738.
She is survived by two daughters, Hilda Virginia Shepperd of Lowell, Mass., and Edith Marie Brown of Martinsburg; one sister, Mary Custer of Ocala, Fla.; two brothers, Lester L. Lentz of Berryville, Va., and Stuart Lentz of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Lentz, Helen Lentz, Della V. Lentz and Marie Houser; two brothers, James Lentz and Arthur Lentz; and one grandson.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Eddie H. Edmonds will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Carolyn V.H. Rohrer
Carolyn V. "Ginger" Hunsecker Rohrer, 55, of 21617 Leiters St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, in her home after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 5, 1941, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roy Eugene and Anna Elizabeth Cook Hunsecker.
She lived her early life in Quincy, Pa.
She was a 1959 graduate of Quincy High School. She attended nurses training in Philadelphia.
She was employed by Pangborn Corp., Hagerstown, as order analysis for 13 years; Danzer's Metal Works, Hagerstown, for five years in customer service estimating.
She was a member of United Church of Christ, Ringgold.
She was a member of Topp's Club 77, Hagerstown; Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Ladies Auxiliary, Hagerstown; and National AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Kenneth Rohrer, whom she married Dec. 15, 1973; two sons, Robert Lee Conrad and Patrick Lynn Conrad, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Gloria J. Kauffman and Gina L. Keefer, both of Quincy; three grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Bryan Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery
near Quincy.
Family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Glenn R. Myers
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Glenn Raleigh Myers, 65, of Harper's Ferry, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Feb. 23, 1932, in Millville, W.Va., he was the son of the late G.D. Frederick Myers and Elvina Bashears Myers.
He was employed by Giant Foods Inc., Washington, for 20 years as meat department manager. He was previously employed by Chevy Chase Super Market for 14 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in U.S. Army as corporal. He received Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Anders Myers at home, who he married Feb. 10, 1952; one son, Alan Kent Myers of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, Charles F. Myers of Charles Town, W.Va.; five grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Myers Kennedy; two sons, Larry Glenn Myers and Robert Andrew Myers; one sister, Eunice Myers Goode; and one brother, Norman M. Myers.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant View Memory Gardens Cemetery, Route 9, Martinsburg. The Rev. John Divico will officiate.
Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Helen M.C. Snowberger
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Helen M. Cline Snowberger, 81, of 26 Fairview Ave., a resident of Wynbrier Retirement Home, Waynesboro, since April 19, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 4, 1915, in Rouzerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William A. and Mary Ellen Recard Cline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Snowberger Sr., whom she married Jan. 2, 1934.
She lived all her life in the Rouzerville and Waynesboro areas.
She was employed by Goodwill Industries, Waynesboro. She was previously employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, and Rose Circle Sunday School Class of the church.
She was a member of South Chapter AARP 2977; National AARP; Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary; and Quincy United Methodist Home Auxiliary; and did volunteer work at Waynesboro Hospital and Quincy United Methodist Home.
She is survived by one son, Gary R. Snowberger of Waynesboro; one sister, Mary C. Smith of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and seven step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Paul G. Snowberger Jr. and Dean M. Snowberger.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt and the Rev. Roger E. Keech will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Martha E. Witmer
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Martha E. Witmer, 76, of 1640 Woodstock Road, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at her home.
Born Nov. 26, 1920, in St. Thomas Township, Pa., she was the daughter of Susan Mentzer Meyers of Chambersburg, Pa., and the late Harvey F. Meyers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Arthur Witmer, who died March 22, 1994.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, L. Elaine Eberly of Fayetteville and S. Marie Sensenig and Carol E. Shank, both of Chambersburg; two sons, John A. Witmer of Orrstown, Pa., and Lowell F. Witmer of Carlisle, Pa.; three sisters, Mary Susan Frey of Chambersburg, Helen Stitziel of Denton, Texas, and Phoebe Anderson of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two brothers, Edmund Meyers of Dover, Pa., and Harvey Meyers of Chambersburg; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg, Pa. Melvin Horst, Paul Deiter and Galen Horst will officiate. Burial will be in Old Rowe Cemetery, Southampton Township, Pa.
A viewing will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, and at the church one hour prior to services.
For religious reasons, the family requests the omission of flowers.
Barbara J. Green
Barbara Jean Green, 57, of 235 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at the residence of her son.
Born Jan. 28, 1940, in Christiansburg, Va., she was the daughter of Wilton Morris Rakes and stepmother Veda Rakes, both of Radford, Va., and the late Ida Madelon Shank Rakes.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Belinda Sue Nave and Tina Marie Byers, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Sheldon Gregory Green of Hagerstown, Donald Albert Green Jr. of Williamsport and Preston Walter Dunn III of Hagerstown; two sisters, Gloria Jean Stotlemyer of Hagerstown and Brenda Joyce Sheppard of Dublin, Va.; one half-sister, Teresa Phillips of Radford; three half-brothers, Dennis Rakes, David Rakes and Wesley Rakes, all of Radford; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Arnold Young will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Lynda L. Buchanan
BOONSBORO - Lynda Lee Buchanan, 50, of 6017 Moser Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at her home.
Born July 11, 1947, in the suburbs of Washington, she was the daughter of Carl and Gertrude Sunderland Schoeppe of Seal Beach, Calif.
She retired in 1982 from Eastalco Aluminum Co., Buckeystown, Md.
She was a member of United Church of God, Columbia, Md., where she was accompanist for choir and active with youth.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, Hugh D. Buchanan; one daughter, Heather E. Buchanan at home; one son, Scott C. Buchanan at home; one sister, Debra Floyd of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one brother, Henry Bonebrake of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 11 a.m. in Chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Steven Buchanan will officiate. Private burial will be Monday in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore.
There will be no evening visitation or viewing.
Mark B. Bowers
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Mark Brian Bowers, 37, of Falling Waters, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, in Avalon Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 12, 1960, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he is the son of Paul Leroy Bowers and Joyce Marie Clopper Poffenberger.
He was a graduate of Hedgesville High School, Hedgesville, W.Va.
He was employed by U.S. Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Brenda Kim Burk of Williamsport, Ronda Marie Catlett of Bedington, W.Va., and Sharon Lea Cole of Melbourne, Fla.; and two brothers, Donald Lee Bowers of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Brian Bowers of Falling Waters.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Marlowe, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Thelma L. Cline
Thelma L. Cline, 71, of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, and formerly of Chewsville, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, at Garlock Memorial Home in Hagerstown.
Born April 1, 1926, in Chewsville, she was the daughter of the late Bernard L. and Lottie A. Bachtell Rohrer.
Her husband, Charles E. Cline, died in 1977.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Ann Bucklew of Waynesboro, Mary L. Dagenhart and Shari D. Drury, both of Hagerstown; six sisters, Doris Chilton of Graham, N.C., Genevieve Rhodes of Hagerstown, Vivian Weagley of Chewsville, Evelyn Draper and Peggy Bayer, both of Waynesboro, Pa., Nancy Ridenour of Leitersburg; four brothers, Joseph Rohrer of Ringgold, Lee Rohrer of Funkstown, Ernest Rohrer and Nevin Rohrer, both of Smithsburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. Pastor Randy S. Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

Jack H. Goetz
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Jack H. Goetz, 69, of 410 Leitersburg Pike, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born June 6, 1928, near Williamson, Pa., he was the son of the late Scott H. and Gertrude O. Ovelman Goetz.
He was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School.
He was a carpenter and had retired after 25 years as meat cutter with the former Acme Abattoir near Greencastle. He also served as union steward for 10 years.
He attended Calvary Temple Church, Williamsport.
He was a member of National AARP.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy L. Truax Goetz; one daughter, Angie E. Myers of State Line, Pa.; three sons, Chester H. Goetz and Jeffrey L. Goetz, both of Greencastle and Gregory E. Goetz of Brunswick, Md.; two brothers, Scott H. Goetz Jr. of Waynesboro and Marvin H. Goetz of Greencastle; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at State Line United Methodist Church, 287 East Ave., State Line. The Rev. Carl White will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services.
