Mary E. Booth

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Mary E. Booth, 72, of Route 2, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born March 2, 1925, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Burman and Ida Barnhart Wills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burhl M. Booth, in 1986.

She was formerly employed by Woodmont Rod and Gun Club near Hancock.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Leasure of Warfordsburg and Patricia Borchardt of Towsend, Del.; one son, Ray Booth of Martinsburg, W.Va.; six sisters, Charlotte Golden of Big Pool, Jesse Weicht of Needmore, Pa., Vesta Marvelis of Great Cacapon, W.Va., Beulah Marvelis of Williamsport, Nancy Martin of Hancock, and Judy Powell of Warfordsburg; four brothers, Marvin Wills of Sleepy Creek, W.Va., Herb Wills and Ronald Wills, both of Hancock, and Gary Wills of Warfordsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Clingerman; and one sister, Phyllis Apple.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mays Chapel Christian Church, Warfordsburg. The Rev. Marion Nesselrodt and the Rev. Ralph Kunkel will officiate. Burial will be in Buck Valley Methodist Cemetery, Warfordsburg.

The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to Fulton County Unit of American Cancer Society, 821 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, Pa. 17233.

Willard C. Widmer

FOLSOM, Pa. - Willard C. Widmer, 71, of 121 Willow Way, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pa.

Born Sept. 12, 1925, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles Carson Widmer and Sara Jean Francis McKinley Widmer.

He lived his early life in South Mountain, Pa.

He was a graduate of Quincy High School.

He was employed by Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, Pa. He later was employed by Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown; Martin Trucking, Baltimore; Bertol Helicopter, Folsom; Boeing Aircraft; Franklin Mint, Media, Pa. He retired from H&H Manufacturing. Following retirement, he owned and operated Widmer's Tobacco Shop.

He was a member of Ridley Park Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of Herbert W. West VFW Post 928, Ridley Park; and Eagles Club, Inc., Waynesboro.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Louise S. Stoops Widmer; one daughter, Sharon L. Schell of Gaithersburg, Md.; three sons, Barry E. Widmer of Boothwyn, Pa., Phillip C. Widmer of Cincinnati and Michael L. Widmer of Folsom; one sister, Elaine Goho of Dauberville, Pa.; one brother, Ellsworth Widmer of Lancaster, Pa.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne L. Widmer.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Harry H. Hardie

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Harry H. Hardie, 93, of Bunker Hill, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at his home.

Born April 27, 1904, in Bunker Hill, he was the son of the late Hunter and Lucille Hardie.

He was a retired auto and diesel mechanic.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his sister, Glenda Hardy of Inwood, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Hardee.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bunker Hill Cemetery. The Rev. William Crowe will officiate.

Friends will be received Thursday at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Kathleen K. Kefauver

FREDERICK, Md. - Kathleen "Kay" Kepler Kefauver, 77, of 356 Park Ave., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, at Vindabona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights, Md.

Born April 7, 1920, in Petersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Bruce Sanner and Irma Naomi Dean Kepler.

She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Middletown, Md.

She was employed by Parson's Department Store as a salesperson.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, where she was involved with Sunday school, young people of the church and bowled on the church bowling team.

She was active with Cub Scouts in Frederick.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward W. Kefauver; one son, Edward Allen Kefauver of Frederick; two brothers, Bruce Kepler of Frederick and Dale Kepler of Middletown; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Edwin Alvin Kefauver; and one brother, Edward R. Kepler.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick, Md. 21701.

Ruth N. Dodson

QUINCY, Pa. - Ruth N. Dodson, 94, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of Pitcairn, Pa., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, at the nursing home.

Born July 11, 1903, in Pitcairn, she was the daughter of the late Allen S. and Anna L. Simpson Dodson.

She was affiliated with Quincy United Methodist Church.

She did volunteer work at Quincy United Methodist Home.

She is survived by two nieces.

She was preceded in death by one brother, O. Collins Dodson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Quincy United Methodist Home. C. Albert Guyer, chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Pa.

Walter S. Drill Sr.

Walter Scott Drill Sr., 86, a resident of Ravenwood Nursing Home and formerly of 19809 Scott Hill Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at the home.

Born Sept. 22, 1910, in Washington County, he was the son of the late George W. and Mary A. St. Clair Drill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sophia Drill, in 1992.

He was employed by Washington County Board of Education for 15 years, retiring in 1977. He previously was employed by Fairchild Corp.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He received the Bronze Star.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 10; and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.

He is survived by one daughter, Judith Kendall of Hagerstown; one son, Walter S. Drill Jr. of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda J. Long.

Services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Prayers will be recited at 6:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, 5 Public Square, Suite 307, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Bessie M. Reggetts

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Bessie M. Reggetts, 76, of Kearneysville, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, at her home.

Born Jan. 23, 1921, in Mather, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha Steinmiller Wolfe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Reggetts, on Oct. 26, 1986.

She was retired from management in the food industry.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Martinsburg, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Mariann Dorsey of Kearneysville and Stephanie Richmond of Charles Town, W.Va.; one son, John H. Reggetts of Hedgesville, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Wolfe, Homer Prinkey and Richard Prinkey.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg. The Rev. Edward T. Reckner will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Road, Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

Joseph G. Corris

Joseph G. Corris, 79, of Langley Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

Born Oct. 25, 1917, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Helen P. Schust Corris.

He was employed by CPC International, New Jersey.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hagerstown.

He was a member of American Legion, New Jersey, for 25 years; and AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Marion F. Schilling Corris; two daughters, Rita M. Clemmensen of Lanoka Harbor, N.J., and Patricia A. Eshleman of Hagerstown; and five granddaughters.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

Philip L. Zentz

THURMONT, Md. - Philip Louis Zentz, 73, of Sabillasville Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997, at his home.

Born Dec. 8, 1923, in Middletown, Md., he was a son of the late Harry Abraham and Marie Shafer Zentz.

He was a 1940 graduate of Thurmont High School, Thurmont.

He retired from Civil Service, Fort Detrick, as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician. He previously was a partner of Zentz Bros., Thurmont, from 1948-1967.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served with the 451st Bomb Group in Italy.

He was a lifelong member of Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Thurmont.

He was a life member of Guardian Hose Co., Thurmont; and Acacia Masonic Lodge 155, Thurmont.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Rae Blickenstaff Zentz; one daughter, Patricia Zentz Moning of Hagerstown; two sons, William P. Zentz of Thurmont and H. Alan Zentz of Rising Sun, Md.; one sister, Constance Zentz Fox of Thurmont; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil S. Zentz and Carroll M. Zentz Sr.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont. The Rev. Phillip C. Huber will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 9 p.m.
