Isaac N. Price

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Isaac Newton "Ike" Price, 86, of Vero Beach, and formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at the Veterans Home of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Born Feb. 18, 1911, he was the son of the late Mary Byler and Charles Irvin Price.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Schnebly Price; and by his second wife, Frances McGrath Price.

He was involved in businesses in Pennsylvania and Florida.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of ACACIA Lodge; and AF&AM, Waynesboro.

He is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Schnebly Price Stoner of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren; Susan Stoner, Matthew Stoner and Sarah Stoner.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Sarah E. Dorn

Sarah E. Dorn, 88, of Hagerstown, who died Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Williamsport Nursing Home, was formerly of 11714 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown.

Grace L. Parkinson

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Grace L. Parkinson, 86, of Asbury Methodist Home, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, in Wilson Health Care Center, Gaithersburg.

Born Sept. 1, 1911, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Adam L. and Anna F. Parkinson.

She retried from J.C. Penneys store, Arlington, Va. She previously was employed by Interwoven Mills, Martinsburg, W.Va.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg.

She is survived by one sister, Catherine Fowler of Asbury Methodist Home; one brother, Lee Parkinson of Martinsburg; two nieces, and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Parkinson and Pauline Hipsley; and one brother, Ralph Parkinson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp and Chaplain Harry C. Cole will officiate. Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary United Methodist Church, 220 W. Burke St., Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401; or Asbury Methodist Home, 211 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, Md. 20877.

Irma M. McCoy

WILLIAMSPORT - Irma Marie McCoy, 75, of 16122 Oak Tree Lane, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home.

Born Oct. 3, 1921, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Ruth Jane Poland Whitacre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. McCoy, on June 19, 1994.

She was employed by Fairchild Corp. from 1942 until her retirement in 1983.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She was a member of American Legion Williamsport 202 Auxiliary; and AARP.

She is survived by one son, Garry F. McCoy of Montgomery, Ala.; two grandsons, Mark McCoy and Brian McCoy, both of Montgomery; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Cloud.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert C. Barton and the Rev. Darryl C. Zoller will officiate.

There will be no viewing; however, friends may call at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Mary L. Wallace

BOONSBORO - Mary Louise Wallace, 78, a resident of Fahrney-Keeney Nursing Home, Boonsboro, and formerly of 140 Snider Ave., Apt. 2, Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at the home.

Born March 20, 1919, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the daughter of the late B.D. and Effie Lee Starnes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Wallace Jr., in 1983. They were married on April 8, 1944.

She spent her early life in Texas.

She was employed by Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown. She later was employed by Sandy Spring Medical Center, Olney, Md.; and by Dr. Beverly Dunn, Bethesda, Md. She retired in 1980.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.

She was a member of Rockville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Rockville, Md.; Y-Gradale Sorority of Waynesboro YMCA; North Chapter AARP 739, Waynesboro; and National AARP.

She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Wallace of Surfside Beach, S.C., and Douglas L. Wallace of Monrovia, Md.; four grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Starnes and Weldon Starnes; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Jay E. Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jane E. Rudisill

Jane Elizabeth Rudisill, 81, a resident of Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown, and formerly of 219 James St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 17, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Mattie Susan Baker Geist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene B. Rudisill, on March 12, 1979.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was superintendent of the Junior Department, a Sunday school teacher, member of Temple Builders Sunday School Class, and a member of Golden Membership Club.

She was a volunteer with March of Dimes and American Cancer Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn R. Carter of Hagerstown and Nancy R. Cline of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sons, Roy E. Rudisill of Inwood, W.Va., John W. Rudisill Sr. of Hagerstown and Larry P.G. Rudisill of Indianapolis; two sisters, Cora M. Weaver of Hagerstown and Hazel I. Plank of Waynesboro, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary A. Stottler; and one brother, Roy B. Geist.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert C. Barton and the Rev. Darryl C. Zoller will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church, corner of Church and Winter streets, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

John P. Lyons

SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - John P. Lyons, 73, a resident of South Mountain Restoration Center, and formerly of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at the center.

Born March 13, 1924, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John P. and Katherine Kirlin Lyons.

He was a 1942 graduate of South Catholic High School, Philadelphia.

He was employed by Atlantic Richfield, now Sunoco, as a rigger from 1944 to 1971.

He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine.

He is survived by four daughters, Elaine A. Henderson of Runnemede, N.J., Maureen J. Touhill of Upper Darby, Pa., Lynn M. Sheffield of Glenolden, Pa., and Jacqueline P. Ricci of Secane, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sister Suzanne Marie "Kitty," I H M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, South Avenue, Secane. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township, Delaware County, Pa.

Local arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematory, Waynesboro.

J. Alaric Bowman Jr.

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - J. Alaric Bowman Jr., 78, of Bridgewater, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, in the Hospice Unit of Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va.

Born Dec. 3, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late J. Alaric Bowman Sr. and Gertrude Long Bowman.

He was a 1937 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He received a B.A. degree in 1951 from Bridgewater College and a M.S. degree in 1960 from the University of Pennsylvania. He attended Stevens Institute of Technology, the University of Maryland and Western Maryland College.

He was employed by Beachley Furniture Co. and taught at South Hagerstown High School, North Hagerstown High School and Hagerstown Junior College. He was dean of students and assistant professor of mathematics and education at Bridgewater College, retiring in 1983.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a captain in field artillery. He served in the European Theater and earned five battle stars and a Bronze Star.

He was a member of Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, where he was chairman of the board of deacons and financial secretary. He also was deacon board chairman of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, chairman of the board of Christian education and a Sunday school teacher.

He was past president of Bridgewater Rotary Club and past president of Washington County Teachers Association. He was on the board of Project Concern; N.E.A.; American Legion; Hagerstown Exchange Club; and National Association of Christians and Jews.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn Reid Bowman; one daughter, Barbara Bowman Rood of Harrisonburg, Va.; two sons, Richard Alaric Bowman of Hagerstown and Daniel Lee Bowman of Boonsboro; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 15 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean Miller will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Bridgewater College, 402 E. College St., Bridgewater, Va. 22812; Central Valley Habitat, 105 S. Main St., Bridgewater, Va. 22812; or Hospice at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, 235 Cantrell Ave., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801.

Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Service, Bridgewater.

Norma A. Lloyd

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Norma Allamong Lloyd, 76, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born May 20, 1921, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Clifton M. and Lillian Peery Allamong.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Lloyd, on March 28, 1978. They were married in 1944.

She as a 1939 graduate of Martinsburg High School. She received her BA degree in music from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va., in 1970. She attended West Virginia University.

A retired music teacher, she taught at Martinsburg South Junior High from 1970 to 1981. She was employed by American Airlines during World War II.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and directed choirs at St. John's and First Presbyterian churches.

She was named Berkeley County Citizen of the Year in 1988. She was active in Congregational Community Action Project; Apollo Civic Theatre; Gateway Garden Club; West Virginia Environmental Education; Shenandoah-Potomac District Garden Club; Philanthropic Education Organization Chapters; Admiral Boarman House Arts Center; and the Berkeley County Recycling Committee.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory M. Lloyd of Shepherdstown and Brian D. Lloyd of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren, Luke and Eli Silverman-Lloyd and Margery, Hannah, Ellie and Olivia Lloyd.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. and the Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate. Burial will be private in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 101 W. Martin St., Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.
