Ralph M. Delauder

FAIRPLAY, Md. - Ralph M. Delauder, 80, of 8324 Reichard Road, Fairplay, died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 27, 1917, at Spielman Station, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Leona K. Middlekauff Delauder.

He was a farmer in Fairplay area, and also was employed by S.J. Gower and Son, Ed Routzahn, Pangborn Inc., Nelson Jones Gas Company, St. James School, and Certainteed Inc.

He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bakersville, and was a member of the church council and cemetery board.

He was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 Improved Order of Redmen in Williamsport and District 12 Fire Company in Fairplay.

He is survived by his wife, Martha V. Gossard Delauder, whom he married Aug. 16, 1941; one daughter, Etta L. Lewis of Fairplay; and one brother, John C. Delauder.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner and the Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Bakersville.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James E. Matheson

BOONSBORO, Md. - James Ewing Matheson, 55, of 7032 Monroe Rd., Boonsboro, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at his home.

Born Dec. 16, 1941, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Alma P. Peter Matheson of Boonsboro and the late Harry Matheson.

He was the former owner, operator, and mechanic of a grgage in Rockville, Md.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Iris M. Tucker Matheson, whom he married Feb. 14, 1978; one daughter, Pauline F. Haran of Rohrersville; two sisters, Janet E. Luther of Bethlehem, Pa. and Jane E. Hyde of Bloomingdale, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Mr. David Devries will officiate. Burial will be at the convience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be sent to American Cancer Society, 1035 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD. 21742.

Karen Estell Kirby

Karen Estell Kirby, 38, of Lakeview Drive, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at her home.

Born Sept. 3, 1959, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Charles and Shirley Davis Kirby of Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Sherry Colville of Parkville, Md. and Robyn Kirby of Baltimore; three nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Kirby.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donald L. Faircloth

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Donald L. Faircloth, 52, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997 in City Hospital.

Born Nov. 22, 1944, in Martinsburg, he is the son of the Rev. Clinton W. and Lillie McDaniel Faircloth of Martinsburg.

He was a custodian at Martinsburg High School, and formerly employed by Greyhound Food Management at General Motors.

He was a member of Martinsburg Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife E. Catherine Markley Faircloth; one daughter, Barbara G. May of Inwood, W.Va.; one son, Donnie W. Faircloth of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; three sisters, Theresa Parsons and Patsy Moreland, both of Martinsburg, and Norma Cogar of Arden, W.Va.; four brothers, Vincent Faircloth of Gerrardstown, Kenneth, Danny, and Terry, all of Martinsburg; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

George W. Fogle

HARMONY, Md. - George W. Fogle, 78, of Brethren Church Road, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1919, in Creagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Walter R. and Mary C. Heffner Fogle.

He retired from housekeeping department at Hood College, Frederick, Md.

He was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Annie E. Leatherman Fogle; one daughter, Joyce A. Darner of Middletown; three sons, David L. Fogle and Glenn W. Fogle, both of Myersville, Md., and Albert G. Fogle of Boonsboro; two sisters, Pauline Mercer of Charles Town, W.Va., and Margaret Grimes of Walkersville, Md.; two brothers, Walter R. Fogle and Arthur Fogle, both of Walkersville; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rollin F. Fogle.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren, Harmony. The Rev. Tracy Wiser and the Rev. Leon Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harmony Church of the Brethren, 3924 Brethren Church Road, Myersville, Md. 21773.

James W. Mahon

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - James W. "Wayne" Mahon, 85, of 1150 Westgate Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, in Manorcare Health Services, Chambersburg.

Born Feb. 24, 1912, in Greene Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late James A. and Margaret Lockbaum Mahon.

He retired in 1977 from the National Automatic Sprinkler Industry. He was a member of Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army.

He was a life member of Chambersburg Club; member of Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223, Shippensburg, Pa.; and Wesley Yeager American Legion Post 606, Fort Loudon, Pa. He was a former member of Chambersburg Country Club, where he won the Club Championship in 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Heckman Mahon; two daughters, Sharon E. Sanderford of Fayetteville, Pa., and Sandra L. Cummings of Annandale, Va.; one son, Robert E. Shank of Lurgan, Pa.; one half-sister, Ora Largent of Marion, Pa.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and one half-brother.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., 112 W. King St., Shippensburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Greene Township.

Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Charles E. Forrest

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Charles E. Forrest, 72, of Pleasant Walk Road, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 23, 1924, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Elmer A. and Helen Kirby Forrest.

He retired in 1981 from Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro, Pa.

He was a member of Williamsport Church of God. In his early life, he attended Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church, Myersville.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kline Forrest; three daughters, April Stotler of Myersville, Diane Fuller of Middletown, Md., and Tammy Forrest of Joppa, Md.; one sister, Hazel Babington of Myersville; two brothers, Clarence Forrest and Robert Forrest, both of Myersville; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church, Myersville. Pastor Allen Greyjack and Pastor Dale Gosden will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Williamsport Church of God, P.O. Box 590, Williamsport, Md. 21795.

Richard T. Kenney Sr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Richard T. "Dick" Kenney Sr., 69, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born Jan. 24, 1928, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Henry Thomas Kenney and Daisy Powell Jones.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy.

He attended Second Baptist Church.

He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 Veterans of Foreign Wars; Berkeley Post 14 American Legion; Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of the Moose; and Woodbriar Golf Course Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Wilt Kenney; one daughter, Mary Ruth Kenney Duffield of Martinsburg; two sons, Stephen C. Kenney of Martinsburg and Richard T. Kenney Jr.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. R. Shawn Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to The Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, N.Y. 10016.

Robert B. Hawbaker

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Robert B. Hawbaker, 75, of 6430 Hillcrest Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 10, 1922, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late W. Bruce and Leila Horn Hawbaker.

He was a 1949 graduate of Aeronautical University of Chicago with a bachelor's degree.

He was employed in the engineering department of Pangborn Corp., Hagerstown. While with Pangborn, he moved to Knoxville, Tenn., in 1972. He moved to Lebanon, Pa., in 1975, where he worked for General Electric Corp. until his retirement in 1985. He then moved to Mercersburg.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army as a master sergeant with the 285th Field Artillery Battery Observation Battalion in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Mercersburg.

He was a member of Mercersburg Lions Club, Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, both of Mercersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Trayer Hawbaker, whom he married on July 24, 1947; two sons, Dennis L. Hawbaker of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jeffrey A. Hawbaker of Naperville, Ill.; and five granddaughters.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Don Creager will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Mercersburg Lions Club, c/o Harry Trayer, 10945 Conoco Road, Mercersburg, Pa. 17236.

William G. Johnson Jr.

HANCOCK - William Glen Johnson Jr., 53, of Hancock, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at his home.

Born Dec. 11, 1943, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of William Glen Johnson Sr. of Hancock and the late Alberta May Stoner Johnson.

He attended Langdon Elementary School and Gordon Junior High School in Washington, D.C.

He was an interior house and apartment painter and had retired due to disability.

He was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his father, he is survived by three sisters, Alice J. Baker of Hagerstown, Karen L. Weaver of Hanover, Pa., and Patricia A. Landes of Dayton, Va.; one brother, David S. Johnson of Washington, D.C.; three nieces and four nephews.

Private graveside services will be in Damascus Church Cemetery, Fulton County, Pa.

Memorial donations may be made to Damascus Church Cemetery, c/o Ernest Shives, P.O. Box 374, Hancock, Md. 21750.

Arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
