Catherin M. Headlee
DUBLIN, Ohio - Catherin Marie Headlee, 68, of Dublin, died of cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at her home.
Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Dublin, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Nellie Willing.
She was the first woman mayor of Dublin, serving from 1980 to 1981. She also was the first woman on the City Council, serving for 10 years.
She helped initiate Dublin Youth Athletics, the Dublin Counseling Center and the community's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
She was a member of Dublin Community Church.
Active in many civic organizations, she was named Dublin-Worthington Rotary Civic Leader of the Year in 1985. She was a charter member of the Dublin Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge. She was a board member of Harding Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, George M. Headlee; three sons, Terry Headlee of Martinsburg, W.Va., Steve Headlee of Galloway, Ohio, and Robert Headlee of Houston; one brother, Robert Willing of Port Clinton, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Headlee.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Rutherford-Corbin Chapel, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio. The Rev. Charles K. Kuck will officiate. Private burial will be in Dublin Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

George F. Myers
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - George F. Myers, 83, of 123 W. Walter Ave., died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 7, 1914, in Antrim Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Siebert and Lucy J. Deck Myers.
He was a 1934 graduate of Greencastle High School.
He retired from Landis Tool Co., in Waynesboro, Pa., after 44 years. A gunsmith, he had a shop in his home for many years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Greencastle.
He was a life member of Rescue Hose Co. No. 1, of Greencastle; a life member of NRA; a life member of Greencastle Sportsman's Association, where he helped in many activities including the founding of the Trap Shooting League.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Gift Myers; two daughters, Barbara Ezolt and Sandra Leydig, both of Greencastle; three sisters, Doris Barnhart, Anna Snoke, and Jane Beaver, all of Greencastle; two brothers, Donald E. Myers and Ray C. Myers, both of Greencastle; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Eva V. Johnson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Eva V. Johnson, 87, a resident of The Shook Home, and formerly of 13419 Main St., Fort Loudon, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 11, 1910, in St. Thomas Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Annie Fisher Crouse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Johnson, in 1980.
She had been employed by the former Hoisery Mills of Fort Loudon and Chambersburg, and the former U-Wanna-Wash-Frock Co. of Fort Loudon.
She was a member of Fort Loudon United Methodist Church.
She was treasurer for Women's Society of Christian Service and Young Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class of the church.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty J. Hollenshead of Fort Loudon and H. Joanne Devor of Chambersburg; one son, Clyde E. Johnson of Fort Loudon; two sisters, Jane Gehr of Fort Loudon and Edna Washinger of Chambersburg; one brother, Joseph E. Crouse of Fort Loudon; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Kenneth E. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John N. Kalathas
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John N. "Big John" Kalathas, 68, of 938 Brandon Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 28, 1929, in Neohorion, Greece, he was the son of the late Nicholas M. and Maria Panagos Kalathas.
He was the former owner of Texas and Famous Lunches in Chambersburg, retiring 20 years ago.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill, Pa.
He served in the Greek Army.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Panagos Kalathas; one son, Nicholas J. Kalathas of Shippensburg, Pa.; three sisters, Evangelia Manikas of Chambersburg, and Athanasia Ntzanis and Constantina Merikas, both of Greece; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. Second St., Chambersburg. The Rev. George Daskalakis will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.

Donald L. Ebersole Sr.
MONT ALTO, Pa. - Donald L. "Duck" Ebersole Sr., 55, of 408 Greenwood Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Jan. 29, 1942, in Mont Alto, he was the son of the late Daniel and Jane Wilson Ebersole.
He was employed as a stock handler for more than 36 years by Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto.
He had been active with Mont Alto Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops.
He is survived by his wife, Treva Shaffer Ebersole; one daughter, Melissa D. Bless of St. Leonard, Md.; two sons, Donald L. Ebersole Jr. of Waynesboro and Bradley A. Ebersole of Mont Alto; eight sisters, Minnie Downin and Beatrice Freeman, both of Quincy, Pa., Susan McCardell of Greencastle, Pa., Betty Smetzer and Dorothy Freeman of Waynesboro, Gladys Grooms of Chambersburg, Pa., Patricia Collins of Hagerstown, and Nancy Thomas of North Carolina; three brothers, Robert Ebersole of Shady Grove, Pa., Daniel Ebersole Jr. of Hagerstown, and Paul Ebersole of Rouzerville, Pa.; three grandchildren; and two children to whom he and his wife were legal guardians, Karl Lockbaum of Chicago, and Stefanie Lockbaum Fogg of Germany.
He was preceded in death by one daughter; three sisters; two brothers; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. David Drawbaugh and the Rev. Robert Basom will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mable W. O'Neill
Mable W. O'Neill, 76, of 806 The Terrace, Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 18, 1921, in Broadway, Va., she was the daughter of the late Luther and Martha Whitmer Wilt.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. O'Neill; one son, Jerry D. O'Neill of Redmond, Va.; two sisters, Vallie Wilt of Timberville, Va., and Maxine Fulk of Roanoke, Va.; four brothers, Wilson Wilt of Lynchburg, Va., Martin Wilt of Round Hill, Va., and Randolph Wilt and Russell Whitmer, both of Harrisonburg, Va.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Nelson Wilt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 218 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George A. Limmer, as celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Betty J. Haymond
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Betty J. Haymond, 66, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Care Haven of Berkeley.
Born Sept. 9, 1931, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Ethel M. Stretchberry Carroll.
Her husband, Alpheus Jack Haymond Jr., died in 1986.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret M. "Jill" Burton of Inwood, W.Va., Janet S. Funk of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Jean M. Clark of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, Harry M. Carroll of Mount Morris, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Melba Corkery.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Patricia Drake will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Robert B. Newcomer
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Robert B. Newcomer, 89, of Centerville, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at his home.
He was born in Smithsburg.
His wife, Elizabeth Kooser Newcomer, died in 1990.
He was a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia.
He was an agent for Prudential Insurance Co. in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., for 25 years, and retired in 1970.
He was a member of United Methodist Church of Osterville, Mass.
He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by one daughter, Judy Boudreau of Osterville; one son, Robert B. Newcomer Jr. of Amherst, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard K. Newcomer of Smithsburg, and John H. Newcomer of Bozman, Md.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at United Methodist Church of Osterville. Burial was private.

Roy M. Wilkinson
GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Roy Maxwell Wilkinson, 73, of Gerrardstown, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at his home.
Born Feb. 23, 1924, in Mammoth, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy Earl and Lillian Larke Wilkinson.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Pyne Wilkinson; three daughters, Judith Lynne Thompson of Brevard, N.C., Rebecca Sue Fowler of Charles Town, W.Va., and Cathleen Jean Darrah of Frederick, Md.; one son, William Earl Wilkinson of Gerrardstown; one stepdaughter, Donna Kay Jordan of Bethesda, Md.; four stepsons, John Jordan and Keith Jordan, both of Gerrardstown, Wayne Jordan of Laurel, Md., and Mark Jordan of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Pauline Geyer of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Betty Woodward of Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, Kenneth Wilkinson of Clinton, Md., and Carel Wilkinson of Laurel; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
