Margaret C. Doyle
HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Margaret Creed Doyle, 70, of 2523 Crosscreek Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at University Hospital.
She was born in Aiken County, S.C. She lived most of her life in Richmond County, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lester Doyle Sr., in 1994, who was of Hagerstown.
She was a retired civil service employee.
She was a member of Dallas Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Owens of Martinez, Ga., Tricia Herrington of Hephzibah and Deborah Wilkes of Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Eugene L. Doyle Jr. and William H. Doyle, both of Augusta; three sisters, Polly Janes of Augusta, June Long of Atlanta and Sue Wilkes of Columbia, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and relatives of Hagerstown.
Services will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at DeLoach Funeral Home, 2546 Georgia Highway 88, Hephzibah. The Rev. M.M. Weaver and the Rev. John Raborn will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Kenneth W. Metz
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Kenneth Wilson Metz, 78, of Charles Town, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, in his home.
Born July 13, 1919, in Mannington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas and Rebecca Camp Metz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Marie Yost Metz, in 1994.
He was a graduate of Mannington High School, W.Va. and a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University School of Law.
He was an attorney practicing law in Charles Town, for 37 years and he served as a attorney for the former Blakeley Bank and Trust Co., in Ranson, W.Va. He served a term in the West Virginia Legislature as a delegate from Jefferson County, W.Va.
He served in the U.S. Army as a major during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town.
He was a member of West Virginia University Alumni Association, West Virginia State Bar Association, Jefferson County Bar Association, and Jefferson County Democratic Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Kendra Marie Metz, at home, and Frances Ann Kief of Charles Town; two sisters, Pauline Ferrell of Pennsville, N.J., and Hildred Paine of Robinsville, N.J.; four grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon will officiate. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation.

Georganna C. Mowen
Georganna Catherine "Catty" Mowen, 63, of 1216 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at her home.
Born May 10, 1934, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George Raleigh and Clearsey Briscoe Haines Timbrook.
She was an adult caregiver.
She was a member of First Brethren Church.
She was a member of Hagerstown Moose Lodge and Redmen 84.
She is survived by her husband, David Edward Mowen; three daughters, Kathy Seburn, Penny L. Shields and Lisa Mowen Bachtell, all of Hagerstown; one son, Mark Mowen of Hagerstown; one sister, Clara M. Brown of Hagerstown; one brother, Charles E. Timbrook of Williamsport; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, James E. Mowen; and two sisters, Virginia Raffensberger and Helen Ocker.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Harold Barnett will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
There will be no viewing.
John D. Johnson
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John David Johnson, 75, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born June 22, 1922, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late John D. and Margaret S. Johnson.
He was a retired meter reader for Potomac Light and Power Co.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II. He served on Okinawa and in the Pacific Theater, and toured Indian Town Gap, Pa., and Fort Myers, Fla.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Johnson; two sons, David Johnson of Alexandria, Va., and Scott Johnson of Newport News, Va.; one stepdaughter, Karen Washington of Hagerstown; two sisters, Virginia Roman of Pittsburgh and Margaret Coles of Martinsburg; two brothers, Granville Roman of Norwalk, Conn., and Eugene Roman of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; three grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Johnson; and one sister, Patricia Devonshire.
Graveside services will be today at noon at Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg. Pastor Donald Smith will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg, today from 10 a.m. to noon.
Naomi J. Hogbin
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Naomi Juanita Hogbin, 84, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Nov. 23, 1912, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Griffith and Stella Orndorff Haines.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Sloan W. Hogbin; two daughters, Linda G. Streets and Lisa G. Staggs, both of Martinsburg; two sons, William S. Hogbin Jr. of Annapolis and W. Thomas Hogbin of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one sister, Margie Redmond of Martinsburg; one brother, Stanley Haines of Augusta, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Palmer; and two brothers, Beaty Haines and Cleo Haines.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Margaret L. Mays
Margaret L. Mays, 89, formerly of 708 Chestnut St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at Quincy Home, Quincy, Pa.
Born Sept. 17, 1908, in Rouzerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles V. and Mary Rose Florence Peters.
Her husband, William P. Mays, died in 1983.
She retired from the fitting department of Hagerstown Shoe Co., after 45 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown.
She also was a member of Union Local U.S.W.A. 4 149.
She is survived by two sisters, Marie P. Kotzman of Waynesboro, Pa., with whom she resided before her admittance to Quincy Home; and Helen E. Fuchs of Olney, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George Limmer as celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery
in Hagerstown.
Visitation will be held at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m.
Daryl L. Moats
Daryl Lynn Moats, 36, 11234 1/2 Marbern Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 10, 1961, in Hagerstown, he was the son of John F. Moats and Gloria J. McCollum Moats of Hagerstown.
He was employed by Weis Market in Frederick, Md., for the past 10 years.
He attended John Wesley United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Monday Night Commercial Major Bowling League and Wednesday Night Darrell Witte Memorial Bowling League. He played slow pitch softball for the combined teams of John Wesley United Methodist Church and Otterbein United Methodist Church. He was a member of Moose Lodge, Williamsport.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tracy L. Moats; one sister, Michelle J. Moats of Hagerstown; and five nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Conrad O. Link will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
William H. Wilson
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - William Huntington Wilson, 88, of South Mildred Street, Charles Town, died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, in his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1909, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late William H. and Euphemia Davenport Wilson.
He was a graduate of Charles Town High School.
He operated a printing business in Charles Town. He recently devoted his time to maintaining his family home on South Mildred Street, which is designated a Charles Town Historic Site.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a life member of Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town.
He was a member of VFW Post 3522, Charles Town and a member of the Board of Directors of the Old Charles Town Library.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Eleanor Childs Wilson; one sister, Ann Wilson Hatch of Edisto Beach, S.C.; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Wilson Gustin.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town. The Rev. John Bower will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
There will be no visitation.

John D. Hill
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - John Donald Hill, 74, of Shepherdstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Dec. 14, 1922, in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late George Clayton and Virginia Okershausen Hill.
He was a graduate of Yonkers High School in Yonkers and the School of Radio Technique in New York City.
He retired in 1986 after 20 years of service with the former Blakeley Bank and Trust Co., Ranson, W.Va. He had been previously employed at Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a former sportscaster for radio stations in Parkersburg and Clarksburg, W.Va.
He was a member of Christ Reformed Church, UCC, Shepherdstown.
He was a member and past president of Shepherdstown Men's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucille D. Daniels Hill; two daughters, Pamela C. Hill Arnold of Shepherdstown and Donna C. Hill of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, George J. Hill of Dallas; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia D. Hill Slinger.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
