D. Ivy Martin
D. Ivy Martin, 75, of 17949 Oak Ridge Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1922, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late William Stanley Mumma Sr. and Florence Ensminger Mumma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V. Richard Martin, in 1986.
She attended public schools in Washington County and Columbia Business College.
She was employed as a travel agent, for 20 years, by Vic Miller and AAA Travel.
She was a charter member of Haven Lutheran Church, and served on the church council and other committees.
She was a member of Women's Club; Springhill Garden Club; Green Acres Homemakers; Cumberland Valley Rose Society; AARP; and American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42 Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Martin and Jeffrey L. Martin, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Lena Moats of Belin, N.M., Bernice Dockter of Hagerstown, Rosalie Childress of Orlando, Fla., and Ardath Mullendore of Smithsburg; one brother, James Mumma of Warren, R.I.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sarah Charles, Josephine Smith, Catherine DeLosier and twin sister, Myrtle Tracy; and two brothers, William Stanley Mumma Jr. and Hershy Mumma.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Haven Lutheran Church, 1035 Haven Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. Torben G. Aarsand will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Janice L. Coulby
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Janice Lorraine "Jenny" Coulby, 35, of Spruce Run Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at the home of her sister-in-law, Jane Knox, in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 28, 1961, in LaPlata, Md., she was the daughter of Adrian M. Coulby of Cobb Island, Md., and Shirley I. Mills Coulby of Smithsburg.
She was a 1979 graduate of Middletown High School.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, Md. She previously assisted with the infant and toddler Sunday school class.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Charles W. Lewis; two sons, Joshua Lewis and Justin Lewis, both at home; three sisters, Rita Grossnickle of Middletown, Sandra "Sandy" Shafer of Middletown and Mary Coulby of Smithsburg; two brothers, Adrian "Bud" Coulby of Pharr, Texas, and Harold "Gene" Coulby of Emmitsburg, Md.; stepmother, Helen Coulby of Cobb Island; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Visitation will also be Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Robert A. Brunner
BURKITTSVILLE, Md. - Robert Alvey Brunner, 51, of 212 E. Main St., died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 18, 1946, in Middletown, Md., he was the son of the late Clinton J. and Mae Delauter Brunner.
He was the owner of Brunner Construction and subcontracted with Admar Construction.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Shewbridge Brunner; two daughters, Robin Disque and Wendy Lengyel, both of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; six sisters, Kathleen Brandenburg and Carolyn Kidd, both of Middletown, Jean Stine of Myersville, Md., Shirley Smith of Walkersville, Md., Sharon Simon of Frederick, Md., and Janice Peasley of Kingwood, W.Va.; three brothers, Paul Brunner and John Brunner, both of Middletown, and Kenneth Brunner of Wolfsville, Md.; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. For the convenience of friends, visitation also will be today from noon to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Nelson S. Higgins
Nelson S. Higgins, 59, of 7 E. Washington St., died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Center, Hagerstown.
Born March 12, 1938, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Allan and Margaret M. Ellsmore Higgins.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Germany.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Higgins of Patton, Pa.; one son, Danny Higgins of Patton; four brothers, David Higgins of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Allan Higgins of Punxsutawney, Pa., John Higgins of Johnstown, Pa., and Bernard Higgins of Glenn Campbell, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.
Leona V. Stultz
Leona Virginia Stultz, 79, of Hagerstown, who died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, was born in Bowden, W.Va.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Riego, of Reedsville, Ga.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tribe of Judah Word of Ministry Church, 21226 San Mar Road, Boonsboro. The Rev. Don Kretzer will officiate.

Richard E. Viands Sr.
WILLIAMSPORT - Richard E. "Dick" Viands Sr., 62, of Clear Spring Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 14, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Aretta Lugene Fogle Viands of Hagerstown and the late Charles Jordan Viands.
He was a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was employed as a dietary officer at the Maryland Correctional Training Center, retiring in 1993.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served eight years with tours in Vietnam and Hawaii.
He was a member of Christ's Reformed Church, Hagerstown.
A member of Washington County Football Officials Association, he officiated for 27 years.
He was a photographer and coordinator for Hagerstown Speedway's Life in the Fast Lane program.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jo Ann E. Miller Viands; one daughter, Debra E. Demeritt of Germantown, Md.; one son, Richard E. "Rick" Viands Jr. of Williamsport; and one grandson.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m. for the convenience of friends.

Sharon B. Hurd-Dibert
DUNNELLON, Fla. - Sharon B. Hurd-Dibert, 60, of Dunnellon, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Fla.
Born Dec. 26, 1936, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Hurd Sr. and Gladys P. Weyant Hurd.
She was a retired seamstress in the clothing industry.
She was a member of Community Fellowship Baptist Church of Dunnellon.
She was a member of Nature Coast Wood Carvers Association of Homosassa, Fla.
She is survived by two daughters, Jacquelyn K. Pike-Garling of Crystal River, Fla., and Mary J. Pike-Coffindaffer of Dunnellon; six sisters, Gloria J. Heard of York, Pa., Kitty D. Kline, Nellie R. Sodergren and Jenny L. Smith, all of Hagerstown, Sandra L. Miller of Funkstown, and Dinah K. Palladino of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three brothers, Jesse R. Hurd of Inverness, Fla., Roger G. Hurd Sr. and Elmer L. Hurd Jr., both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Fero Funeral Home, Dunnellon Chapel, 7620 S. U.S. Highway 41, Dunnellon. Pastor Larry Pearson will officiate. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

Elmer C. Price Sr.
SMITHSBURG - Elmer C. Price Sr., 72, of Cave Hill Road, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 14, 1924, in Bridge Port, Md., he was the son of the late Millard J. and Lizzie E. Plummer Price.
He retired from Lone Star Cement Company, in Hagerstown, after 36 years.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.
He was a member of North American Rod and Gun Club; and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Smithsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Ann Vensko Price; one daughter, Donna Kay Unger of Smithsburg; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Green of Smithsburg; two sons, Elmer C. Price Jr. and Michael Lee Price, both of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Frederick "Berry" Price and Wilbur Price, both of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Randy O. Price; one sister, Anna Mary Price; four brothers, Billy Price, Charles Price, Joseph Price, and Larry Price.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg. Minister Bryan R. Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery, with military services by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
