MYERSVILLE, Md. - Janice Lorraine "Jenny" Coulby, 35, of Spruce Run Road, who died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, is survived by a brother, Robert Coulby of Smithsburg.
Bertha L. Kerns
SYKESVILLE, Md. - Bertha L. Kerns, 92, of Fairhaven, formerly of Hancock, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at Northwest Hospital Center.
Born Oct. 8, 1905, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late James Hamilton and Bertha Hartley Kerns.
She was a retired U.S. Army nurse.
She is survived by her niece, Virginia Lee Hayes of Charlottesville, Va.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Burial was in Moreland Memorial Park, Baltimore.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fairhaven Residents Assistance Fund, 7200 Third Ave., Sykesville, Md. 21784.

Carrie E. Strock
Carrie Elizabeth Strock, 85, formerly of 419 Summit Ave., died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at Clearview Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 16, 1912, in Myersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Rose E. Michaels Wiles.
She was previously employed by Hagerstown Shoe Co.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Morris C. Stouffer of Hagerstown; one sister, Jennie M. Kyler of Hagerstown; one brother, Welty W. Wiles of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Russell E. Stouffer; and a granddaughter, Debra K. Bowers.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, 400 Main St., Keedysville. The Rev. Dennis Upton will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Ronald Gibson
BALTIMORE - Ronald Gibson, 49, of Baltimore, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore.
Born in White Burg, Ky., he was the son of the late Lenville and Mattie Bates Gibson.
He was a payroll clerk for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by three sons, Scott Gibson and Brian Gibson, both of Nebraska and Michael Gibson of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Jean Thomas of El Cajon, Calif. and Joyce Foreman of El Cadito, Calif; five brothers, Marvin Gibson of Morristown, Tenn., Charles Gibson and Jim Gibson, both of Kearneysville, W.Va. Coy Gibson of Bellville, Mich., and Gary Wayne Gibson of Vine Grove, Ky.; two grandchildren; one aunt; two uncles; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Cemetery Road, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Martinsburg; and today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Connelly Sons Funeral Home in Baltimore.

Allen E. Russ
Allen E. Russ, 64, of 321 Henry Ave., died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at his home.
Born in Saginaw, Pa., he was the son of the late William McKinley and Eva Williams Russ Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Stoner Russ, in 1994.
He was retired from Imperial, Inc. of Hagerstown; and previously worked at Brandt Cabinet Works.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Ebenezer AME Church.
He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Russ of Hagerstown and Albert Campbell of Frederick, Md.; two stepdaughters, Debbie Burnett Carey and Valencia E. M. Burnett, both of Hagerstown; one stepson, Ernest L. Burnett Jr.; two sisters, Beatrice Young and Margaret Barnett, both of Hagerstown; five brothers, Roy Russ, Frank Russ, James Russ, Kenneth Russ, and Rudolph Russ, all of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gwendolyn Russ; four sisters, Juanita Watson, Dorthea Frisby, Betty Davis and Catherine Russ; and two brothers, William M. Russ Jr. and Nelson Russ.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. The Rev. Leroy Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Clarence E. Parker
MAUGANSVILLE - Clarence Earl Parker, 80, of 13816 Distant View Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 3, 1917, in Burlington, Vt., he was the son of the late Howard L. and Rena S. York Parker.
He was a 1937 graduate of Saranac Lake High School, N.Y.
He retired in 1982 from Northwest Airlines, St. Paul, Minn., after 15 years. Previously, he was employed at Martin Aircraft, Denver, Colo.; and Glenn L. Martin, Baltimore, Md.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association; and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn B. Parker; one son, William J. Parker of Sebring, Fla.; three brothers, Marshall Parker and William James Parker, both of Bristol, Vt., and Herbert Parker of Lincoln, Vt.; four grandchildren; and three nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harry James Parker.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Richard W. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Md.
The family will receive friends Monday one-half hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lucretia K. Bowlus
FREDERICK, Md. - Lucretia K. Bowlus, 93, formerly of Newburg, Md., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at Homewood Retirement Center, Frederick.
Born April 17, 1904, in Carlisle, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Sallie Shafer Bowlus.
She was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown, Md.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Mark A. Wakefield will officiate. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Middletown.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
D. Arlene VanMetre
DOWNSVILLE - D. Arlene VanMetre, 53, of 16503 Spielman Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at her home.
Born Dec. 8, 1943, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Arlington R. and Betty L. Lighter Castle.
She was a care provider for the elderly in Hagerstown; and a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Keedysville.
She was a member of Tri-State Bluegrass Association; and president of Downsville Ruritan Club.
She is survived by her husband, Charles A. VanMetre, whom she married Dec. 12, 1961; three sons, Joseph A. VanMetre of Damascus, Md., Mark A. VanMetre of Williamsport and James A. VanMetre of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lillian G. Lunsbury
Lillian Georgiana Lunsbury, 76, of 17724 Timberlane Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 1, 1921, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Henry Michael and Lillian A. Ziegler Nissel.
She was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Lunsbury; one daughter, Dorothy Higgins of Bradenton, Fla.; one son, Henry C. Zimmer of Somerset, N.J.; one sister, Dorothy Wahler of Williamsport; one brother, Henry Nissel of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Nissel.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
