Kenneth L. Teach

WILLIAMSPORT - Kenneth Leroy Teach, 66, of 11514 Pinesburg Road, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at University of Maryland Medical Hospital, Baltimore.

Born Sept. 20, 1931, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late William Walter and Lyoa Mae Staley Teach.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Stine, in 1994.

He was a self-employed well driller. He also maintained St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Mooresville, Md.

He was a member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Williamsport.

He was a member of Well Drillers Association.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Randy Teach of Williamsport and Joseph Emory Teach of Hagerstown; two sisters, Betty Moore and Beulah Keller, both of Williamsport; one brother, Ronald Teach of Hagerstown; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 32 E. Potomac St., Williamsport. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Friends may call at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Claudis P. Turner

WILLIAMSPORT - Claudis Preston "Poots" Turner, 80, of 15707 Fenton Ave., died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at his home.

Born Nov. 21, 1916, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late James Elmer and Olive Geraldine Gordan Turner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Marie Scott Turner, in 1996.

He was employed by W.D. Byron Tannery in Williamsport, Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, Cyclone Fence Co. in Washington, D.C., and was recently with the C&O Canal National Historical Park.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport.

He is survived by three daughters, Lois E. Gelwicks and Carol Jean Guessford, both of Hagerstown, and Donna M. Fischer of Williamsport; three sons, Harry P. Turner of Williamsport, Ned W. Turner of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Douglas A. Turner of Hagerstown; one sister, Mabel I. Turner of Spring Valley, Calif.; one brother, William R. "Bodie" Turner of Williamsport; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dixie Lee Kelley; and three brothers, Richardson Turner, Walter Turner and Gordan Turner.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The Rev. Merle Petre will officiate.

Friends may call at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Wednesday from 7 to p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Margaret K. Wyand

WILLIAMSPORT - Margaret Keener Wyand, 81, of Homewood Retirement Village, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at Homewood Nursing Center, Williamsport.

Born Nov. 16, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Martin B. and Lelia C. McCoy Keener.

She was a 1935 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She was a professional ceramist, decorator, dressmaker, weaver of baskets and knitter of sweaters.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Altar Guild, Fidelity Sunday School Class and the Adult Choir.

She was a member of Tea Leaf Club International and Conventions and Toy Glass Dishes Club. She also was a member of Washington County Free Library-Western Maryland Room, Homewood Residents Auxiliary, AAA, AARP, and the board of directors of Homewood Community Residents' Association.

She is survived by her husband, W. Harold Wyand, whom she married Aug. 11, 1936; one daughter, Diana Wyand Corl of Middletown, Md.; one son, Jeffery A. Wyand of Gaithersburg, Md.; one brother, R.B. Keener; five grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen Robison will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Virginia I. Hoover

Virginia Inez Hoover, 81, of 1131 Hamilton Blvd., Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 13, 1916, in Shippensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nellie Shelly Sprenkle.

She was employed as a private nurse and previously was employed by Fairchild Corp.

She was involved with several pet organizations including SPCA.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Palmer of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Barbara Luther and Patty Ridenour, both of Hagerstown; and four grandsons, Jim Palmer, Jeffrey Palmer and Anthony Palmer, all of Hagerstown, and Ricky Palmer of Funkstown.

Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 322-324 E. Antietam St., Suite 306-B, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Kenneth L. Teach

Frank W. Spielman

Frank W. Spielman, 85, a resident of Colton Villa Nursing Center in Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at the nursing home.

Born Feb. 1, 1912, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Meda Storm Spielman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet M. Burger Spielman, in 1981.

He had retired as a diesel mechanic from Western Maryland Railroad in Hagerstown, after 45 years of service.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a life member of Antietam Fire Co., Hagerstown.

He is survived by one son, Frank E. Spielman Sr. of Sharpsburg; five grandchildren, Mary Bader of Frederick, Md., Frank Spielman Jr. of Clear Spring, Meda Day of Walkersville, Md., Joseph Spielman of Hagerstown and Thomas Spielman of Frederick; four stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. Mary Crampton officiated.

There was no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Western Maryland, 5 Public Square, Suite 307, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Morgan T. Snyder

CLEAR SPRING - Morgan T. "Pat" Snyder, 83, of 12339 Funkhouser Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 19, 1913, in Sylvan, Pa., he was the son of the late Arch and Dora W. Vernon Snyder.

He was a lifetime farmer, and was self-employed as a building painter.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by one brother, Calvin A. "Johnny" Snyder of Clear Spring; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Robert Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Blairs Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and two hours prior to the service on Friday.

Charas H. Heurich

SMITHSBURG - Charas H. Heurich, 17, of 13112 Bikle Road, died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 20, 1980, in Potomac, Md., she was the daughter of Christian and Simone Gale Kear Heurich of Smithsburg.

She was a senior at Smithsburg High School, and attended Hagerstown Junior College part time. She was a member of the National Honor Society; Spanish Club; captain of the cross country team; and a member of the 1996 and 1997 outdoor state championship track teams. She had been accepted, with scholarships, to University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Notre Dame University.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Shiloh Cory Slack Heurich of College Park, Md., and Colter Ingram Heurich of Smithsburg; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Weibel of Hagerstown; paternal grandmother, Beverly P. Heurich of Bethesda, Md.; aunts; uncles; and a special friend, Ryan E.R. Lampton, of Baltimore.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Julie Brigham will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Charas H. Heurich, c/o Smithsburg High School, 66 N. Main St., Smithsburg, Md. 21783.

J. Edward Davis

BERLIN, Md. - J. Edward Davis, 65, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, in Berlin.

He was born June 26, 1932, in Baltimore.

He was a 1950 graduate of Loyola High School and a 1954 graduate of Loyola College. He graduated from University of Maryland School of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1959.

As an attorney, among others things, he was general counsel to the Maryland Classified Employees Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Joel Engh Davis of Towson, Md., whom he married in 1955; two daughters, Mary Michele Davis of Ocean City, Md., and Mary Denise Davis of Towson; three sons, Bradley Davis of Ocean City, Christopher Davis of Baltimore and Joseph E.T. Davis of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Dolores Kelly of Baltimore and Lee Moher of Red Lion, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial Mass was held Nov. 6 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ware Avenue, Towson. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Long Green.
