Raymond E. Starr
FREDERICK, Md. - Raymond Edward Starr, 91, formerly of 4938 Teen Barnes Road, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at College View Nursing Center, Frederick.
Born Sept. 10, 1906, in Frederick, he was the son of the late James Edward and Florence Virginia Munshower Starr.
He was employed with Bethlehem Steel, and later with City of Frederick Water Department for 25 years, retiring in 1965.
He was a member of Reformed United Church of Christ, Jefferson, Md.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Catherine Carlin Starr, a resident of Frederick Health Care Center; and two foster sons, Harry Hutts of Virginia and Charles Hutts of Hagerstown.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick. The Rev. Guy Wenck will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Peggy H. Daugherty
BALTIMORE - Peggy Hilda Mason Daugherty, 83, of Baltimore, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 30, 1914, in Inwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Mary Light Mason.
She was a 1933 graduate of Bunker Hill High School; and a 1943 graduate of South Baltimore General Hospital, receiving a RN degree. She also was a graduate of West Virginia College of Beauty Culture.
She was a member of Inwood United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Daugherty; three sisters, Evelyn Coffman of High Point, N.C., Donna Lee Whetzel of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Kathryn Fearnow of Williamsport; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline Gardner and Freda Coe; and two brothers, Harry Mason and Russell "Bill" Mason.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hubert E. Wolford Sr.
Hubert Elwood Wolford Sr., 90, of 11912 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 7, 1907, in Hamphire County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert R. and Minnie V. Carlyle Wolford.
He was a former employee of Fairchild Aircraft, Callas Construction Co. and Rice Brothers Construction.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Remona Price Wolford; five daughters, Evelyn High of Chambersburg, Pa., Louise Hubble of West Chester, Pa., Nadine Frush of Falling Waters, W.Va., Erma Kline and Frances Lowery, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Hubert Wolford Jr. of Smithsburg and Kenneth Wolford of Hagerstown; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home Health Care, 1799 Howell Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
Hilda E. Jones
WILLIAMSPORT - Hilda Elizabeth Jones, 101, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 26, 1896, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Richard Edwin and Anna Elizabeth Mayor Jones.
She was a 1914 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was employed as a secretary by A. Palmer Mitchell, U.S. Attorney General under President Woodrow Wilson in Washington, D.C. In 1921, she entered into private practice with Mitchell until her retirement.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Confederacy; AARP; and volunteered for Girl Scouts of Frederick, Md.
She is survived by one sister, Alta Ruth of Frederick; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Benny Jones, Walt Jones, Carlton Jones, Howard Jones, Fritz Jones and Donald Jones.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Md. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Rosanna Shank
Rosanna Shank, 57, of 926 Salem Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 17, 1940, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Earl and Anna Lorraine Langle Roser.
Her husband, Richard K. Shank, died in 1989.
She was employed with Personal Care of Hagerstown.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose Auxiliary, Hagerstown.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia S. Smoot of Hagerstown; two sons, Richard J. Shank and Tony W. Shank, both of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori J. Shank; two sisters, Dorothy Roser and Ella Tressler; and three brothers, Donald Roser, Royer Roser and Robert Roser.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Christopher J. Chantelau will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Nellie L. McTighe
Nellie L. McTighe, 78, of 18016 Putter Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, at Ravenwood Retirement Center, Hagerstown.
Born Nov. 1, 1919, in Westminster, Md., she was the daughter of the late William C. and Nelda C. Weller Ryland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McTighe, in 1987.
She was employed by the law firm of Venable, Bacher and Howard in Baltimore and retired in 1965.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 211, Funkstown.
She is survived by one sister, Barbara A. Oster of Gap, Pa.; and two brothers, William C. "Jack" Ryland and Ralph P. "Benny" Ryland, both of Hagerstown.
