Robert O. Bond

SMITHSBURG - Robert O'Neal Bond, 62, of 21926 Jefferson Blvd., died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 28, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Forrest M. "Duke" Bond Sr. and Violo V. Itnyre Bond.

He was employed by Ewing Oil Co. for more than 29 years.

He was a member of Western Maryland Sportsman's Club and North American Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Diane L. Triesh of Hagerstown; two sons, Glenn A. Bond Sr. of Hagerstown and Robert J. Bond of Parsonsburg, Md.; three stepdaughters, Brenda Kimble, Annette Cline and Lisa Haupt, all of Hagerstown; one stepson, Randy Cline of Hagerstown; two sisters, Agnes Doherty of Hagerstown, and Regina Stoneberger of Chewsville; one brother, Forrest M. Bond Jr. of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and seven stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald W. Bond; and one stepgranddaughter.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Richard Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open today after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Aileen I. Noble

CHADBOURN, N.C. - Aileen Inman Noble, 78, of Woodrow Noble Road, died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at her home.

Born in Brunswick County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Jim and Wincey Pierce Inman.

Her husband, Woodrow W. Noble, died in 1990.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Whiteville, N.C.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara White of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sons, Billy G. Noble and Woodrow B. Noble, both of Chadbourn, and Barden W. Noble of Clarkton, N.C.; one sister, Opal Stevens of Whiteville; one brother, Ned Inman of Whiteville; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Davis and the Rev. Maurice Gilliam officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, Whiteville, N.C. 28472; or to Chadbourn Rescue Squad, Chadbourn, N.C. 28431.

Arrangements were by Worthington Funeral Home, Chadbourn.

Mary E. Rowland

DOWNSVILLE - Mary Elizabeth Rowland, 83, of 16523 Spielman Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 23, 1914, in Downsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Annabelle Baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bruce Rowland, in 1988.

She attended Downsville Christian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Lucille L. Houser of Sharpsburg and Barbara J. Saunders of Downsville; three sons, Stanley L. Rowland of Sharpsburg, Ted E. Rowland of Downsville and Albert W. Rowland of Sharpsburg; six sisters, Blanche Ausherman of Tampa, Fla., Bessie Ebersole, Dorthy Reel, Virginia Smith and Anna Forsythe, all of Hagerstown, and Margaret Campbell of Williamsport; one brother, Alvey Baker of Hagerstown; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Frye and Thelma Harsh; and two brothers, Donald Baker and Thurman Baker.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. E. Reese Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Thursday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Eula L. Gelwicks

Eula Lee Gelwicks, 72, of 754 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at her home.

Born Oct. 2, 1925, in Birmingham, Ala., she was the daughter of the late James and Lois Poleing Walker.

She was baptized at Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack A. Gelwicks; two daughters, Connie Heavern and Jacklyn Leigh, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Julia Cople of Kissimmee, Fla., and Gimmie Fusco of Acworth, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Sarah Walker.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Christopher J. Chantelau will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd.

Wilson P. Pryor

WILLIAMSPORT - Wilson Perishing Pryor, 79, of 13 N. Vermont St., died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 18, 1918, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Lillian Ward Pryor.

He was employed with Pangborn Corp., retiring in 1982.

He attended Williamsport United Methodist Church.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Quarter Century Club of Pangborn Corp.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Marie Stenger Pryor; one daughter, Diana M. Kiser of Harrisonburg, Va.; one son, Gary W. Pryor of Middletown, Md.; two sisters, Jane Robertson of Williamsport and Phyllis Paine of Emmitsburg, Md.; one brother, William Pryor of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Paula Heefner; and one brother, Kenneth Pryor.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Robert S. Purcell

BOONSBORO - Robert Sullivan Purcell, 72, of 121 S. Main St., died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.

Born Nov. 16, 1925, in Atlanta, Ga., he was the son of the late George D. and Edna S. Seymour Purcell.

He retired in 1991 from Mount Vernon Printing Co., Landover, Md.

He was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, Boonsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Ethelyn Hobbs Purcell, whom he married June 30, 1946; two daughters, Theresa L. Webber of Boonsboro and Susan C. Dellinger of Bowie, Md.; two sons, George L. Purcell of Riverdale, Md., and Robert M. Purcell of Hagerstown; one sister, Edna E. Kline of Spring, Texas; one brother, Charley Purcell of Simi Valley, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen L. Purcell; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. John W. Zsittnik will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Andrew Peltz

Andrew Peltz, 81, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home.

Born Aug. 27, 1916, in Ennis, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Galajda Peltz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth Peltz, in 1997.

He was a graduate of Elkhorn High School, Bluefield, W.Va.

He was a retired employee of Fairchild Industries.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Busy Men's Bible Class.

He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 378 BPO Elks; Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; and United Auto Workers Local 842 Chapter of Retirees.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Doris J. Dennis of Mount Airy, Md., and Carol A. Long of Boonsboro; one son Greg Peltz of Vicksburg, Miss.; one stepson, Robert L. Shoop of Hagerstown; four sisters, Mary Colburn of Charleston, W.Va., Annie Lenosky of Shelby Township, Mich., Emma Lavin of Bluefield, W.Va., and Julia Holstein of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, Mike Peltz and Nicholas Peltz, both of Charleston, and Pete Peltz of Bluefield, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Peltz.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Phyllis I. Fritz

Phyllis Irene Fritz, 79, of 301 Avon Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Williamsport Nursing Home.

Born May 18, 1918, in Rileyville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Milburn and Maye Clingan Cameron.

She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church since 1938. She was a member of the choir, Comrades Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School.

She is survived by her husband, William E. Fritz; one daughter, Carolyn L. Smith of Millers, Md.; one son, Robert E. Fritz of Mercersburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond Lytle will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
