Robert C. Smith
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Robert C. Smith, 72, of Crow Rock Road, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 27, 1925, in Jerome, Pa., he was the son of the late Richard V. and Pearl Vincent Smith.
He retired in 1975 after 29 years with the Department of Defense, Washington, D.C. After retirement, he returned to the U.S. government as a consultant with the CIA. He was a former real estate agent in Warrenton, Va.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
He taught Sunday school at United Methodist Church in Warrenton. He attended Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
He was a former member of Lions Club of Warrenton and a member of Fauquier Springs Country Club in Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Alice I. Brandenburg Smith; two daughters, Vallie Ritchie of Madison Heights, Va., and Vicki Jo McBee of Leesburg, Va.; one sister, Marjorie Hosman of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Ronald Smith of New Port Richey, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Smith, Richard Smith and Vernon Smith.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren, Brethren Church Road, Myersville. The Rev. Tracy Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Marguerite S. Haupt
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Marguerite Susan Haupt, 81, of Church Hill Road, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Jan. 30, 1927, in Church Hill, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ira T. and Amy Susan Willard Warrenfeltz.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Church Hill, since 1931. She served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, member of the church council and church choir.
She was a member of Burkittsville Senior Citizens and Myersville Senior Citizens.
She wrote the Church Hill Letter for the Valley Register weekly newspaper.
She is survived by her husband, Albert C. Haupt; two daughters, Grace E. Gue of Myersville and Phyllis Crummitt-Tewes of Braddock Heights, Md.; one sister, Ruth Keller of Middletown, Md.; one brother, John Warrenfeltz of Myersville; seven grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther A. Hoffman and Alice Warrenfeltz.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Church Hill. Pastor David Howell will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Earl G. Hartsock
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Earl Glenn "Barney" Hartsock, 63, of 9229 B Hollow Road, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1998, at his home.
Born July 20, 1934, in Harmony, Md., he was the son of the late Foster Hartsock and Catherine Mary Crone.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a retired sheet metal mechanic with American Air Conditioning, Frederick, Md.
He was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
He was a life member of National Rifle Association; a life member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, Frederick; a life member of North American Hunting Club; and a member of National Muzzle Loading and Rifle Association.
He is survived by one sister, Edna C. Winfield of Myersville, Md.; two brothers, Paul Brown and Mehrle Hartsock, both of Frederick; and two nieces, Debbie Beck of Frederick and Loretta Hornbeck of Smithsburg.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville. The Rev. Tracy L. Wiser, his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Myersville.
There will be no visitation.

George J. Yunt
George Joseph Yunt, 86, of 17612 Burnside Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 29, 1911, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Henry and Rosa A. Gratz Yunt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel May Yunt, in 1995.
He had been employed by E.I. DuPont for 40 years.
He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
He was a member of BPO Elks 378; Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84; and AARP.
He is survived by a daughter, Lois LaPort of Hagerstown; a son, George J. Yunt Jr. of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and two caregivers, Wilma Beauchamp and Diane Heydt.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown; The Rev. Wayne Schwanke and the Rev. Keith Loesch will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call Sunday all day at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown; and Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Jack W. Dofflemyer Sr.
CLEAR SPRING - Jack Wayne "CB" Dofflemyer Sr., 69, of 11457 Charles Mill Road, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 24, 1929, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Marcus LaFayette and Dora Stum Dofflemyer.
He was employed by Washington County Maintenance Department, retiring in 1991. He was previously employed by Blake Co.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. He retired from the Naval Reserve Seabees after 22 years of service.
He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown.
He was a member of AARP; and a life member of Post 896 VFW, Martinsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Abbott Dofflemyer of Clear Spring; two daughters, Beverly Danner of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Sherrie Davis of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two sons, Jack Dofflemyer Jr. of Hagerstown and Lonnie Dofflemyer of Zephyrhills, Pa.; four stepdaughters, Vickie Luther of Fallston, Md., Sharon Phillips and Jackie Kirby, both of Hagerstown, and Tammy Hettenhouser of Falling Waters; one stepson, Donald Abbott II of Bel Air, Md.; one sister, Helen Scott of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four stepgranddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Dofflemyer.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 127 Britner Ave., Williamsport. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate.
Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open Sunday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Josephine C. Geisler
HANCOCK - Josephine C. Geisler, 80, of Maryland Avenue, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at her home.
Born Oct. 20, 1917, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Olive V. Mitchell Fling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Geisler, in 1996.
She was formerly employed by Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown, as an assembler; and later was employed by Park-N-Dine Restaurant, Hancock.
She was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock.
She was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Hancock; and AARP.
She is survived by one sister, Bess Slifer of Boonsboro; two brothers, John Fling and Ludwell Fling, both of Hancock.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Moore, Marge Smith, Roxabell Fling and Margaret Lynch.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Paul E. Mills Sr.
WILLIAMSPORT - Paul Everett Mills Sr., 73, of 11437 Kemps Mill Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 12, 1925, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Harry Milton and Bertha Belle Mowen Mills.
He was employed by the Washington County Board of Education until his retirement in 1990. He previously was employed by Victor Products Co. and Fairchild Aircraft Corp.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of the Clear Spring Historical Society.
He is survived by one daughter, Wilma Lee Swiger of Greensburg, Pa.; two sons, Paul E. Mills Jr. and Terry Mills, both of Clear Spring; one foster daughter, Joni Wiles of Hagerstown; four sisters, Nellie O'Dell of Raleigh, S.C., Edna Pike of Williamsport, Margie Resh of Hagerstown, and Betty Hornbaker of Willow Hill, Pa.; five brothers, Fred C. Mills of Pittsburg, Texas, Norman E. Mills of Antietam, Benjamin C. Mills of Hagerstown, Robert L. Mills and David L. Mills, both of Williamsport; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bessie Mills, Esther Moore and Frances Chaney; three brothers, Harry Mills Jr., Charles Samuel Mills and Sherman Leroy Mills; and a longtime companion, Ruth Wiles.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Wednesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of friends and family.
