Samuel L. Wolfe

WILLIAMSPORT - Samuel Lease Wolfe, 59, of 15818 Clear Spring Road, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at his home.

Born Sept. 24, 1938, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Alice Marie Gladhill Wolfe of Williamsport and the late Samuel Eli "Floppins" Wolfe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee Mason Wolfe, in 1986.

He was employed with Cushwa Brick of Williamsport, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Star of Hope Chapel, Williamsport.

He was a member of Classic Car Club for Children.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Misty Dawn Hiles of Clear Spring; two brothers, Ralph L. Wolfe and Norman A. Wolfe, both of Williamsport; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Diane Wolfe.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Emogene F. Fogle

FREDERICK, Md. - Emogene Florence Shafer Orrison Fogle, 70, of 314 Adam Road, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at her home.

Born Jan. 9, 1928, in Harmony, Md., she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Fannie Martha Daisy Wise Brandenburg.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Meredith Roy Shafer, in 1953.

She retired from H. L. Hartz in Frederick after 20 years of service.

She was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville, Md.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Loyal Order of the Moose 371; Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11; and AMVETS Post 2, all in Frederick.

She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Fogle; eight children, Carolyn Ann Stone of Brunswick, Md., Emory T. Shafer of Thurmont, Md., Linda Stitely of Mount Airy, Md., Barbara Main of Hagerstown, Gary Shafer of Frederick, Steve Hinton of Ocecie, Fla., Debra Barkdoll of Middletown, Md. and Doug Orrison of Middletown; two stepsons, James William Fogle of Pasadena, Md. and Charles E. Fogle of Illinois; one sister, Arlene Smith of Walkersville, Md.; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Douglas Orrison, in 1985.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren in Myersville. The Rev. Tracy Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Middletown.

Friends may call today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends also may call Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to her estate, 9416 Hollow Road, Middletown, Md. 21769.

Hazel A. Heinbaugh

Hazel A. Heinbaugh, 94, a resident of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, 1183 Luther Drive, Hagerstown; and formerly of Mercersburg, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Ravenwood.

Born Feb. 5, 1904, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Susan Bricker Trumpower.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Heinbaugh, in 1979.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mercersburg, where she was a member of King's Daughters Sunday School Class; and Service Guild. She also was a member of WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America).

She is survived by a daughter, Janice H. Steiger of Mercersburg; two sons, Clair E. Heinbaugh of Croutelle, France, and Lynn A. Heinbaugh of Williamsport; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael R. Brendle will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 8 Linden Ave., Mercersburg, Pa. 17236.

Helen D. Bentz

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Helen Dorothy Harbaugh Bentz, 64, of Old Frederick Road, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, Pa.

Born May 30, 1933, in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Emmert and Bertha Anderson Harbaugh.

She was a member of Auxiliary of VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg; and Auxiliary of Francis X. Elder American Legion Post 121 of Emmitsburg.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Louis Bentz Sr.; one daughter, Lois Jean Myers of Thurmont, Md.; one son, James Louis Bentz Jr. of Emmitsburg; five brothers and sisters, Ethel Cool and Ruth Sanders, both of Emmitsburg, Hazel Valentine of Littlestown, Pa., Clara Flenner of Fairfield, Pa. and Robert Harbaugh of Taneytown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Harbaugh.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Skiles Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg. The Rev. Larry Eby, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen V. Ross

MAUGANSVILLE - Helen Virginia Ross, 73, of 13641 Village Mill Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at her home.

Born March 16, 1924, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Dayton C. and Florence Murray Robinson.

She was a member of Baptist Temple.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Everly; three sons, James Ross of Hagerstown, Roger Ross of West Virginia, and Charles Ross of Texas; six sisters, Fannie Frazier, Bertha Rand and Mary Wolfe, all of Hagerstown, Clara Wettstein of Colorado, Lillian Monninger and Rosie Sloat, both of Williamsport; five brothers, George Robinson and Cyrus "Buster" Robinson, both of Hagerstown; Raymond Robinson of Clear Spring, Jimmy Robinson and Harry Robinson, both of Williamsport; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Daris Ford Will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Louis E. Binkley Sr.

Louis E. Binkley Sr., 75, of 1914 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.

Born Dec. 5, 1922, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Paul Strock and Gertrude Hoover Binkley.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Japan.

He was owner and manager of Brown's Florist since 1981, and previously was employed by Pangborn Corp., and Charles A. Gibney Florist.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, the consistory and the choir. He was treasurer and a Sunday school teacher.

He also was a member of BPO Elks 378, American Legion and Morris Frock Post 42.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Gibney Binkley; one son, Louis E. Binkley Jr. of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Mary Alice Martin of Hagerstown, and Florence Anderson of Baltimore; three brothers, Arthur Binkley of Denver, Nevin Binkley of Greencastle, Pa., and Dale Binkley of Clear Spring; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Clark Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Marion B. Conn

Marion B. Conn, 86, of 300 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, who died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, is survived by a daughter, Michelle Meyers of Hagerstown; and three great-grandchildren.

Theresa V. Barbour

Theresa V. "Dot" Barbour, 77, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, and formerly of Williamsport, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 12, 1920, in Little Orleans Crossroads, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Alice Sharon Twigg.

She was employed by Dorbee Manufacturing Co., Hagerstown. She also was a self-employed dog groomer.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She was a member of Red Feather Council 59 Degree of Pocahontas, Williamsport.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Allen Barbour Sr.; one daughter, Sharon Banzhoff of Williamsport; one son, Lou Barbour of Hagerstown; one brother, Russell E. Twigg of Bolivar, W.Va.; two grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Allen Barbour and Georgie Barbour; three sisters, Thelma Twigg, Pauline Twigg and Helen Twigg; and four brothers, Glenn Twigg, Stanley Twigg, Forrest Twigg and Bruce Twigg.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. James Stauffer and the Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate. Burial will in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will open Wednesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Catherine E. Spickler

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Catherine Ethel Spickler, 90, of Asbury Methodist Village, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Gaithersburg.

Born June 28, 1907, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Jenny Kinsel Trumpower.

Her husband, Leslie O. "Nick" Spickler, died in 1982.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Dona Brackman of Rockville, Md.; and two grandchildren, Kristen Brackman of Seattle, and Amy Brackman of Astoria, N.Y.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Patricia A. Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
