Linda L. Ridenour
SMITHSBURG - Linda L. Ridenour, 61, of Kretsinger Road, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 29, 1936, in Highfield, she was the daughter of the late J. Hamilton and Margaret A. Fritz Pryor.
She was a 1955 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
She was a member of Welty Church of the Brethren in Greensburg.
She was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary of Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.
She is survived by her husband, Walter E. Ridenour Sr.; two daughters, Dorothy "Dottie" J. Ridenour of Hagerstown, and Valerie A. Oliver of Smithsburg; one son, Walter E. Ridenour Jr. of Smithsburg; three sisters, Marcella Hershberger and Jean Brown, both of Smithsburg, and Sherry Humbert of Farmham, Va.; two brothers, Chester "Buck" Pryor of Smithsburg, and Joseph Staunton Pryor of Sabillasville, Md.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. Dean Mouk will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Nellie I.M. Cramer
FREDERICK, Md. - Nellie Irene Martz Cramer, 83, of 6 Franklin St., died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at her home.
Born Nov. 30, 1914, in Benevola, Md., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Minnie Briddle Martz.
Her husband, Ethan Alan Cramer, died in 1975.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by H.L. Hartz and Sons Inc. in Frederick, Md., for 20 years as a seamstress.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a member of Frederick Deaf Fellowship in Frederick.
She is survived by two daughters, Irene C. Price and Alma C. Hite, both of Frederick; four sisters, Mabel Wade of Thurmont, Md., Evelyn Seibert and Wanda Kanode, both of Hagerstown, and Hilda Rubeck of Waynesboro, Pa.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Martz and Paul Martz.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Peggy A. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Brenda J. Proffitt
HAMPSTEAD, Md. - Brenda Joyce Proffitt, 52, of Hampstead, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at her home.
Born July 18, 1945, in Finksburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Winfield R. and Emma R. Turnbaugh Caples.
She worked in the warehouse at Random House Publishing in Westminster, Md.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. James D. Proffitt of Towson, Md.; two sisters, Gloria M. Uhler of Hampstead and Janet M. VanDyke of Westminster; and one brother, Dennis Caples of Littlestown, Pa.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Westminster, with the Rev. James D. Proffitt as celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
Friends may call at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Dealia O.P. Sanders
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Dealia O. Phillips Sanders, 78, of Lake City, and formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Lake City Extended Care Nursing Home in Lake City.
Born Feb. 9, 1920, in Lake Butler, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Guy and Martha Douglas Phillips.
Her husband, Abram F. Sanders, died in 1989. They were married April 25, 1945.
She was a 1937 graduate of Lake Butler High School. She also graduated from Pope's School of Beauty in Hagerstown.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Force in the WACS.
She owned and operated a beauty shop in Waynesboro from 1952 until retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro.
She also was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 Auxiliary in Waynesboro, and national AARP.
She is survived by two sons, Terry L. Sanders of Greencastle, Pa., and Barry D. Sanders of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Ethel Pinkston and Iris Dunbar, both of Lake Butler; two grandchildren; and a niece who helped with her care, Martha Fielder of Lake City.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Mary L. Amundson will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Paul Brumback
Paul Brumback, 53, of Bryan Place, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, 1944, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Leon W. Brumback and Mary F. Younker Brumback.
He was a member of Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in Hancock.
He is survived by four sisters, Leona Watson, Louilla Brumback and Catherine Tyler, all of Hagerstown, and Aquila Brumback of Hancock; two brothers, Leon Brumback and Joseph Brumback, both of Hagerstown.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Bishop Paul Bowers and Adv. President Elder James Coffman will officiate. Burial will be in Supreme Council of the House of Jacob Cemetery in Hancock.
Francis A. Shaw
WILLIAMSPORT - Francis Albert "Buddy" Shaw, 83, of 201 E. Sunset Ave., died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 2, 1914, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Frank Albert and Ella Mae Byrum Shaw.
He retired from Mack Trucks in 1977. He was previously employed by Federal Silk Mill in Williamsport.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 IORed Men in Williamsport, a life member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion in Williamsport, and a member of Hagerstown Lodge 378 BPO Elks in Hagerstown.
He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Y. Everly of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one grandson, Steven J. Everly of Martinsburg; a special friend, Doris Showe of Williamsport; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary L. Potts and Ethel Keyser.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. today for the convenience of family and friends.

Florence O. Baker
GURNEE, Ill. - Florence Olivia Baker, 55, of 34070 White Oak Lane 43A, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at Highland Park Hospital in Illinois.
Born Oct. 29, 1942, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of James T. Williams of Hagerstown and the late Minnie Harmon Williams.
She graduated from Virginia State College in Petersburg, Va., and completed the master's program at Barat College in Lake Forest, Ill.
She was a teacher for more than 30 years, and taught for the Waukegan Unit School District.
She was a member of Ebenezer AME Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by two sons, Malcolm E. Baker and Mallory E. Baker, both of Gurnee; one sister, Cynthia A. Smothers of Hagerstown; nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Celena Joyce Hampton.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church in Hagerstown. The Rev. Leroy Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
A viewing will be at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home, 24 E. Bethel St., Hagerstown.
Frances E.S. Shoemaker
Frances Elnora Stephey Shoemaker, 74, of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1923, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ottie V. Fitz Stephey.
She was a 1941 graduate of Waynesboro High School. She then received a teaching certificate from Chestnut Hill College near Philadelphia.
She served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Seattle.
Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at Frick Co. in Waynesboro, for Dr. Gordon E. Hanna and then Dr. J. Harold Engle, both in Waynesboro; Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown; the law office of Robert P. Shoemaker of Waynesboro; and Samuel Dixon State Hospital, now known as South Mountain Restoration Center in South Mountain, Pa.
She was corporate secretary for Charnita Inc. near Fairfield, Pa., and taught typing and shorthand at St. Joseph Academy in McSherrystown, Pa., for five years. She worked for the state of Pennsylvania for two years helping to set up a program with local businesses to become senior friendly, and prior to retiring in 1987, was a secretary at Descom, which was associated with Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro.
She also was a member of national AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Lizetta Michele Schrock of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; two brothers, H. Arthur Stephey of Tionesta, Pa., and Aaron F. Stephey of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Susan Blanche Gantz, Mary Helen Trace, Alice Pauline Brechbiel, Verna Marion Esa; and three brothers, J. Earl Stephey, Roy Nelson Stephey and Richard Stephey.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Stephen E. Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m., and 30 minutes prior to the service.
