Zina E. Moody

Zina Eileen "Pat" Moody, 43, of 222 Jonathan St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 6, 1954, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Cleo Smith of Hagerstown and Henry Taylor of Phoenix.

She attended South Hagerstown High School and Hagerstown Junior College.

She was employed by Good Humor/Breyers of Hagerstown; and by Coffman Nursing Home as a nurse's aide.

She is survived by one son, Jerome Broadus of Hagerstown; three sisters, Aloha Broadus, Sonia Broadus and Tonya Smith, all of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret "Peggy" Jones; and one grandchild, Justice A. Broadus.

Services will be Monday, March 23, at noon at Zion Baptist Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Haru Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Camilla L. Divelbiss

Camilla L. "Tillie" Divelbiss, 84, of 18826 Preston Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at her home.

Born Jan. 11, 1914, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Clara Widdows Hasting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perce Raymond Divelbiss, in 1995.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

She was a member of Ladies Elks Lodge 378; and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Lafferman of Montgomery Village, Md.; three sons, Dennis Divelbiss and John Gary Divelbiss, both of Hagerstown and James R. Divelbiss of Locust Grove, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine McKee.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Andrew Mohl will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles R. Keeney

SHARPSBURG - Charles Ross "Charlie" Keeney, 65, of 6937 Tommy Town Road, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.

Born April 24, 1932, in Lewistown, Md., he was the son of the late Samuel B. and Belva Reva Baugher Keeney.

He was self-employed with Keeney's Painting and Home Improvement and retired in 1993.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the U.S. Army in the 23rd Infantry Division. He received the Armored Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Medical Badge.

He was baptized in the Salvation Army Church in 1933.

He was a member of Dixon Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Ann Chaney Keeney; three daughters, Sandra A. Keeney and Charlotte M. Springer, both of Hagerstown, and Michelle L. Pryor of Sharpsburg; four sons, E. Wayne Keeney of Fairfield, Pa., Charles W. Keeney and John D. Keeney, both of Falling Waters, W.Va., and D. Lynnie Campbell of Hagerstown; four sisters, Virginia Tanny and Grace Forney, both of Union Bridge, Md., Betty Albaugh of Keymar, Md., and Frances Kauffman of Frederick; two brothers, Roland Keeney of Frederick and Gary Keeney of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Toms; and two brothers, Walter Keeney and Samuel Keeney.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. E. Reese Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Graveside military services will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Beulah M.P. Horn

Beulah Marie Pomroy Horn, 94, of 820 Pope Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at her home.

Born April 8, 1903, in Funkstown, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Minerva I. Valentine Pomroy.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary I. Shoop of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Robert D. Horn of Hagerstown and George F. Horn Jr. of Boonsboro; one grandson, Ronald L. Horn of Hagerstown, whom she raised; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Pomroy.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. David B. Kaplan will officiate. Burial will be in Funkstown Cemetery, Funkstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or Community Rescue Service, 511 E. Franklin St., P.O. Box 22, Hagerstown, Md. 21741.

Phyllis A. Ford

Phyllis Arlene Ford, 78, formerly of Hagerstown, who died Friday, March 13, 1998, is survived by a sister, Margaret Lewis of Hagerstown.

Ruth A.M. Riggs

BEAUFORT, S.C. - Ruth Ann McPherson Riggs, 54, of Beaufort, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at her home.

Born Aug. 7, 1943, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Elizabeth McPherson Rudy.

She was an insurance agent for Marion D. Jones Agency. She had previously been employed by Insurance Services of Beaufort.

She is survived by her husband, James F. Riggs; one daughter, Michelle Lyn Barber of Live Oak, Fla.; one son, Eddie T. Riggs of Charleston, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Beaufort Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Copeland Funeral Home, Beaufort, today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Hollings Cancer Institute, Medical University of South Carolina, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29245.

Lee G. Harne

SMITHSBURG - Lee G. Harne, 88, of Stottlemyer Road, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 23, 1909, in Garfield, Md., he was the son of the late W.D.L. and Katie Wise Harne.

He attended Forrest School in Garfield.

He retired from City of Hagerstown Water Department in 1975 after 37 years of service. He was also a school bus driver for 16 years.

He was a charter member of Mount Pleasant Church of God, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, adult Bible teacher and a choir member.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth L. Willard Harne; three daughters, Helen H. Baynard of Berwick, Pa., Nancy H. Sell of Frederick, Md., and Deborah L. Cadle of Springfield, Va.; five sons, Donald L. Harne and Howard E. Harne, both of Smithsburg, John W. Harne and the Rev. A. Paul Harne, both of Hagerstown, and the Rev. Eugene R. Harne of Hancock; one brother, the Rev. George A. Harne of Pensacola, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah Draper, Delva Lewis and Hilda Lewis; five brothers, Glen Harne, James Harne, Merhl Harne, Lawrence Harne and Guy Harne; and one grandchild.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Church of God, 24107 Foxville Road, Smithsburg. Pastor Ronnie G. Stanley, the Rev. George A. Harne, the Rev. Eugene R. Harne and the Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Garfield United Methodist Cemetery, Garfield.

The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Tuesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Helen I. Leatherman

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Helen Irene Leatherman, 79, of 3608A Brethren Church Road, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at her home.

Born Nov. 10, 1918, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late William C. and Myrtle Shelton Smith.

She was employed as a cook by Odd Fellows Home in Frederick, Md., and as a housekeeper at Masser's Motel in Frederick.

She was a member and life deacon of Harmony Church of the Brethren in Myersville, and Willing Workers Sunday School class.

She is survived by her husband, G. Russell Leatherman; one daughter, Martha Forrest of Myersville; two sons, Norman Leatherman and Austin Leatherman, both of Myersville; one brother, Carroll Smith of Myersville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren in Myersville. The Rev. Paul Leatherman will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Tracy L. Wiser. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Myersville.

Friends may call at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, Md., anytime today, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Harmony Church of the Brethren, c/o Lois Willard, 3910 Highland Ave., Myersville, Md. 21773.

Deborah D.D. Jamieson

GRANGER, Ind. - Deborah D. "Debby" Detrow Jamieson, 46, of State Road 23, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind.

Born March 10, 1951, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of George and Martha Ruth Mowen Detrow of South Bend, Ind. She had lived in South Bend for the last 20 years.

She was a 1969 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. She obtained an associate's degree from Hagerstown Junior College and a bachelor's degree from Centenary College in Shreveport, La. She received a master's degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.

She was a school psychologist for Goshen Community Schools.

She attended Harris Prairie Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Samuel J. Jamieson Jr., whom she married on June 26, 1981; one sister, Daphne D. Stewart of Hagerstown; one brother, Dwayne D. Detrow of South Bend; one niece; one nephew; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held Wednesday, March 11, at Welsheimer Funeral Home North, South Bend. The Rev. Edgar Erskine officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Dorothy M. Smith

Dorothy M. Smith, 79, of 31 1/2 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 13, 1918, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Bertha M. Showe Cline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Smith, in 1977.

She is survived by three daughters, Anna Mae Grobosky of Virginia Beach, Va., Ruby L. Henderson and Mary E. Smith, both of Hagerstown; three sons, George W. Sager of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Wesley R. Smith and Mark T. Smith, both of Hagerstown; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Lapole; and one brother, Russell Cross.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Roseann Duckett will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Lena Cemetery.
