Tammy L. Nipper

Tammy Lynn Nipper, 26, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 17, 1998.

Born Jan. 7, 1972, in Olney, Md., she was the daughter of Linda and Dan Nipper of Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Anthony Scott Matthew Hull; one sister, Jennifer Nipper of Woodsboro, Md.; four brothers, Wayne Bell, Daniel Nipper and Robert Burdette, all of Hagerstown, and George Nipper of Woodsboro; maternal grandparents, Edward Earl and Bobbi May Bell of Westfriendship, Md.; a great-grandfather, the Rev. Henry Sweeney of Sneedville, Tenn.; a close friend, Eddie Brown; a nephew whom she helped to raise, Dustin Bell; and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Evelyn Nipper.

Friends are invited to attend a gathering today at 10 a.m. at Slack Funeral Home, P.A., 3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, Md. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Donald A. Simms

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Donald Albert Simms, 61, of 8022 Bolivar Road, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 6, 1936, in Ellery, Ill., he was the son of the late Albert and Ella Medler Simms.

He was employed as a computer maintainer by GIE Corp., Chantilly, Va. He served in the U.S. Force from 1956 to 1962.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Pennington Simms; one daughter, Dondee Arlene Minnick of Boonsboro; one son, Damon Albert Simms of Frederick, Md.; three stepchildren, Dennis Richards of Greenbelt, Md., Darlene Gilroy of Bryans Road, Md., and the Rev. Joseph Godbout of Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Wanda Roosevelt and Lois Goodson, both of Albion, Ill.; two brothers, Larry Simms and Robert Simms, both of Albion; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Joseph Godbout, his stepson, will officiate. Burial will be in Illinois.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Middletown Volunteer Fire Co., Middletown, Md. 21769.

Howard G. Doub

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Howard G. Doub, 69, of Main Street, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.

Born May 24, 1928, in Frederick County, Md., he was the son of Nelly C. Grossnickle Doub of Myersville and the late Grayson E. Doub.

He graduated from Middletown High School and attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music.

He retired from the state of Maryland as an investigator and auditor after 20 years.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville, where he was organist. He also was organist and choir director for United Church of Christ, Greencastle, Pa.

He was a member of the American Legion, Essex, Md.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Anna Mae Doub of Myersville; one brother, Gene L. Doub of Myersville; and one niece.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville. The Rev. Carroll A. Doggett will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

William F. Clarke

William F. Clarke, 42, of 108 N. Mont Valla Ave., Hagerstown, and formerly of Pittston, Pa., died Monday, May 18, 1998, at Washington County Hospital, as a result of an automobile accident.

Born Nov. 9, 1955, in Pittston, Pa., he was the son of Ann Marie Clarke, and the late William F. Clarke.

He was a 1973 graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master's in business administration from the University of Scranton.

A certified public accountant, he was employed by Zefer Operations Inc., Fairfield, Pa., as chief financial officer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Harned Clarke of Hagerstown; one daughter, Megan, of Pittston; one son, Dustin, of Pittston; two sisters, Marie Coyle of Old Forge, Pa., and Patricia Cantafio of Pittston Township; one brother, John Clarke of Newport Township, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dora M. Wolfe

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Dora Marlow Wolfe, 49, of Chandler, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at Desert Samaritan Hospital, Mesa, Ariz.

Born Jan. 4, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was the daughter of Frances Roe of Joplin, Mo., and formerly of Hagerstown.

Her husband, Gary Allen Wolfe, died in 1993.

She was an accountant for 25 years, including 10 at the Venice Inn, Hagerstown.

She was a member of Twin Butte Baptist Church in Phoenix, Ariz., was a Sunday school teacher for the youth, and was primary instructor for the junior church program.

She also was a Cub Scout den mother, and a member of Tempe High Booster Club.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Beau Allen Wolfe of Chandler; two sisters, Babe Marie Sexton of Joplin, and Patricia Fay Hines of Rome, Texas; and one brother, George Carter of Mineral Wells, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held in Phoenix. Burial was in Rest Haven, Hagerstown.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dora Wolfe Memorial Fund, Twin Butte Baptist Church, 7202 S. 48th St., Phoenix, Ariz. 85020.

Jo Ann Barnhart

Jo Ann Barnhart, 65, of 105 Chartridge Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 9, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Bessie Mae Griffith Bovey.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

She was a former hospice volunteer.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Allen Barnhart; one daughter, Cindy S. DeLauter of Hagerstown; two sisters, Margaret E. Bridges of Mount Savage, Md., and Virginia L. Stenger of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. David B. Kaplan will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doris J. Hanratty

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - Doris J. Hanratty, 78, of Lee's Summit, who died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, was the daughter of the late Carl and Mabel Wastler. She also is survived by a sister, Mary Kuster of Boonsboro.

Dorothy W. Buys

Dorothy Wyand Buys, 90, formerly of 1306 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home, Boonsboro.

Born Feb. 12, 1908, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Webster H. and Daisy E. Bovey Wyand.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Buys, in 1968.

She was employed by Alice Weagley Shop, Ormond Hosiery Shop, Arrow Shoe Store and in the shoe department at Eyerly's Department Store.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was co-founder of the Gift Shop and Snack Bar at Washington County Hospital, where she served as assistant manager.

She is survived by one daughter, Dotty B. Piccolomini of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one son, Ralph H. Buys of Camp Hill, Pa.; one brother, W. Harold Wyand of Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Warlow, Mary Coblentz and Genevieve Feller; and one brother, Ralph Wyand.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Christopher J. Chantelau will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 E. Randolph Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or the charity of one's choice.

George W. Yarnell V

George W. Yarnell V, 31, of 1547 Violet Drive, Hagerstown, and formerly of Altoona, Pa., died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, in Clear Spring.

Born Nov. 29, 1966, in Rochester, N.Y., he was the son of George W. and Bernadine Mary Ball Yarnell IV of Altoona.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was employed by Frederick County Sheriff's Department Division of Correction.

He attended St. Ann's Catholic Church.

He was a member of Cannon Station Volunteer Fire Co. and Kaittaning Trail Volunteer Fire Co., both in Altoona. He was a former member of United Fire Co., Frederick, Md.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kelly A. Yarnell of Hagerstown; two sons, Jacob Thomas Yarnell and Noah Patrick Yarnell, both at home; and three brothers, Lawrence Owen Yarnell, Todd James Yarnell and Waylon Thomas Yarnell, all of Altoona.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Andrew S. Mohl will be celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
