Mary G. Moser

Mary Gertrude Moser, 62, of 115 Harvard Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 30, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Howard Ducky and Helen Churchey Russell.

She was employed as manager of Jeff Restaurant and Putt Putt for 15 years, Long Meadow Cinemas for 10 years, and Hagerstown Leather Co. for five years.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Church of God, Clear Spring.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Moser; one sister, Sharon Rhodes of Hagerstown; one brother, Marvin Russell of Halfway; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy H. French

Dorothy H. French, 74, of Elizabeth Court, 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 12, 1923, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Alice Snyder Shoemaker.

She had been employed by Hagerstown Rubber Co.

She is survived by one brother, Patsy E. Shoemaker of Clear Spring.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse L. Shoemaker and Earl L. Shoemaker.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The viewing will be Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Carella M. Semler

SHARPSBURG - Carella Martha Semler, 79, of Sharpsburg, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 2, 1918, in Monroe, near Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Carl V. and Leona Thomas Taylor.

She was a member of Morris Frock Unit 42, American Legion Auxiliary. She was past president of Antietam Unit 236 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Salem 376 of the 8 & 40.

She was a member of Last Woman's Club of World War II. She was a member of Woodmen of the World for six years. She was a member of Lappans Homemakers' Club and AARP.

She was past president of Halfway Senior Citizens Club and a member of United Senior Citizens Association.

She was the first president of Sharpsburg School PTA and was a life member of National Congress of PTAs.

She was treasurer of Ladies' Auxiliary to Washington County Firemens' Association. She served as a volunteer at Newton D. Baker Hospital during World War II and then as the VAVS representative for American Legion Auxiliary of Maryland for 15 years. She also served as a volunteer at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, until her retirement. She received the highest award given by the Veterans' Administration for service to veterans.

She was given an award by Antietam Post 236 American Legion for her outstanding work at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and for her interest in the health and welfare of others in the community.

She is survived by her husband, Roy E. Semler Sr.; one daughter, Ruann Cramer of Hagerstown; two sons, Roy E. Semler Jr. of Sharpsburg and Richard L. Semler of Boonsboro; two brothers; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sharpsburg Area Rescue Service and Volunteer Fire Company, 110 1/2 W. Chapline St., Sharpsburg, Md. 21782.

Lyda E. Orgain

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. - Lyda Eubanks Orgain, 89, of Cockeysville, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born in Chapel Hill, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert Allen and Lyda Harris Eubanks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holmes Orgain.

She was an elementary school teacher and vice principal.

She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Cockeysville.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Brown of Berkeley Springs; one son, Robert Allen Orgain of Salisbury, Md.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret E. Eubanks; and a brother, Robert A. Eubanks.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at May's Chapel Cemetery, Timonium, Md.

The viewings will be Tuesday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs; and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lemmon Mitchell Wiedefield Funeral Home.

Arrangements are by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Ermont L. Williams

Ermont Leslie Williams, 79, of 1104 Glenwood Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 7, 1919, in Hastings, Mich., he was the son of the late Lyle Dean and Flossie May Mosier Williams.

He was a 1942 graduate of the University of Michigan, with a degree in aeronautical engineering.

He worked at Curtiss-Wright Airplane Division in Columbus, Ohio, for 8 1/2 years until October 1950, when he took a position with Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, retiring at the end of 1981. He had served as chief of materials engineering, chief of structures and as project engineer on the F-14 Fin and Rudder.

He was a member of Washington County Genealogical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Rambo Williams; one daughter, Chris Anne Owens of Tabb, Va.; one son, Dean Lee Williams of Hagerstown; one sister, Genevieve Williams of Detroit; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle LaVerne Williams.

Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Torben Aarsand will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society Washington County Unit, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Raymond L. Ruck Sr.

Raymond Leroy Ruck Sr., 72, of 426 Mechanic St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 12, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William Henry and Lottie Eleanor Warden Ruck Sr.

He was employed by C.E. Darner and Sons, retiring in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

He was a member of W.D. Byron Post 1936, VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dorothy L. Ruck; six daughters, Theresa V.A. Poole, Vicki E. Carroll, Winifred L. Stotelmyer, Carolyn L. Baker, Betty J. Montgomery and Barbara L. Smith, all of Hagerstown; three sons, Raymond L. Ruck Jr., Robert D. Ruck and James P. Ruck, all of Hagerstown; two brothers, William H. Ruck Jr. of Hagerstown and Sam Ruck; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Allan M. Ruck; and a sister, Genevieve Hahn.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Bill L. Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Theodore Holmes

BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Theodore "Buck" Holmes, 83, of 548 Gilbert St., died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Oct. 10, 1914, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Nick Holmes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Dunn Holmes, in 1996.

He retired from U.S. Steel Corporation at the Keystone Plant, Millville, W.Va.

He was a member of Gospel Chapel Assembly of God Church at Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

He was a member and past grand master of Virginia Lodge 1 IOOF of Harpers Ferry.

He is survived by one daughter, Margaret H. Malone of Lyman, S.C.; one brother, Pete Holmes of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Charles T. Malone Jr. of Lyman, Garland Malone, Douglas Malone and Robin Strange, all of Greer, S.C., and James Breeden Jr. of Charles Town, W.Va., Larry Breeden of Ranson, W.Va., and Jeff Breeden of Bolivar, whom he raised; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Breeden; a sister, Addie Webber; a brother, Kyren Holmes; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. James Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Florence M. Glover

Florence M. Glover, 73, of 11403 Stonecroft Court, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 11, 1924, in Goldsboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Viola Smith Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Glover, in 1986.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God.

She was a volunteer at Alexander House.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Glover Peterson of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Lucious Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; Selena Hamilton of Colonial Heights, Va., Toyna Rice of El Cerrito, Calif., Leon Johnson of Long Island, N.Y., Cassandra Peterson of Georgia, Ronald C. Peterson Jr. of Orlando, Jacqueline Green of Brooklyn, Mary Ann Glover and Jessie Glover Jr., both of Dallas, and Diane Glover of North Carolina; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Virginia Avenue Church of God, 2206 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
