Arthur L. Fauble

WEAVERTON, Md. - Arthur L. "Ottie" Fauble, 72, of 723 Weaverton Road, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Born May 8, 1926, in Weaverton, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Elva M. Danner Fauble.

He was a warehouse man for Frederick Trading Co. in Frederick, Md., retiring after 24 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

He was a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1136, Brunswick, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 695, Waynesboro, Pa.; a member of American Legion, Post 71 and member and legionnaire of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 948, both in Charles Town, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty J. Darr Fauble; two daughters, Gloria Lee Stoupe of Wytheville, Va., and Sharon Faye Wenner of State Line, Pa.; two sons, Norman Lynn "Jim" Fauble of Charles Town and Bradley Lawrence "Dickie" Fauble of Pleasantville, Md.; three sisters, Virginia L. Twenty of Frederick, Dorothy C. Wenner of Weaverton and Helen O. Kessner of Middletown, Md.; a brother, Lester E. Fauble of Frederick; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary E. Hough; and four brothers, George W. Fauble, Norman E. Fauble, Charles W. Fauble and Richard D. Fauble.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, Md. The Revs. Wendell McClellan and R. Thomas Fralin will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville, Md.

The family will receive friends today and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Annie A. Summer

BOONSBORO - Annie Amelia Summer, 95, a resident of Reeders Memorial Home, formerly of Keedysville, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at the home.

Born Nov. 21, 1902, in Beaver Creek, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Geneva Sarah Lung Summer.

She was a former African missionary nurse.

She was a member of Boonsboro First Christian Church.

She is survived by a sister, Grace S. Harris of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Beaver Creek Church Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. John Powell will officiate.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Reeders Memorial Home, 141 S. Main St., Boonsboro, Md. 21713.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

Scott A. Carbaugh

ARANSAS PASS, Texas - Scott A. Carbaugh, 33, of Aransas Pass, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998.

Born Aug. 24, 1964, he was the son of James T. Carbaugh of Hagerstown and the late Martha Copland.

He is survived by his stepmother, Catherine Carbaugh of Hagerstown; four sisters, Michelle Brown and Vannesa Rizzo, both of Texas, Regina Stuabs and Mary Crouse, both of Hagerstown; five brothers, James Carbaugh Jr. and Jason Norris, both of Texas, Richard Carbaugh of California, Michael Carbaugh and Paul Showes III of Hagerstown; his grandmother, Betty Dunkle of Hagerstown; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

There will be a prayer for Carbaugh on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Long Meadow Church of the Brethren.

Russell W. Sigler

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Russell W. Sigler, 69, died Monday, June 1, 1998, in Bellevue.

Born March 31, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles I. Sigler and Pearl E. Durbin Sigler.

His wife of 34 years, Doris Sigler, died in 1988.

He was a retired paper maker for Container Corp. of America.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 174.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann Nugent of Issaquah, Wash., and Patricia Louise Foster of Bellevue; six sisters, Mary Smith, Helen Smith and June Jamison, all of Sharpsburg, Wanda Winters and Betty Litten, both of Hagerstown, and Betty Dayle of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, Donald Sigler of Bristol, Maine, and Howard Sigler of Jasper, Ala.; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Layton Earl Sigler and Ralph I. Sigler.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Tacoma, Wash. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Tacoma.

Arrangements are by Gaffney Cassedy Allen & Buckley King Funeral Home.

Aaron G. Steiner

Aaron G. Steiner, 79, of 1911 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at his home.

Born Jan. 5, 1919, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Russell and Dora Burton Steiner.

He was employed as an engineer for Pangborn Corp., retiring in 1986. He also had worked for Hagerstown Block Co., Supreme Block Co. and Pennsylvania Sand Glass.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant.

He was involved in the Funkstown Lions Club and the Washington County Republican Central Committee. He was past president of the Hancock Lions Club and Hancock PTA and past governor of Lions International. In 1990, the Lions Club International awarded him a Melvin Jones Fellowship for dedicated service.

He was the designer and chief architect of the Valley Little League complex, which was dedicated to him in 1997. He was inducted into the Washington County Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. He also was instrumental in creating the Smithsburg Little Sluggers League and was president of Hagerstown Pony League in 1965-66.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Hendershot Steiner, whom he married Dec. 24, 1946; six sons, Terry Steiner, Tim Steiner, Rod Steiner and Mike Steiner, all of Hagerstown, Dennis Steiner of Frederick, Md., and Pat Steiner of Floyds Knob, Ind.; two brothers, Jack Steiner of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Lester Steiner of Surfside Beach, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Ruppenthal, and an infant son, Gregory Lynn Steiner.

Services will be held Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown. Burial with military honors will be at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740 and Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Arthur L. Fauble

WEAVERTON, Md. - Arthur L. "Ottie" Fauble, 72, who died Friday, June 5, 1998, resided at 725 Weaverton Road, Weaverton.

Earl L. Marlin

Earl L. Marlin, 81, of 1048 Valley Brook Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 9, 1917 in Roadside, near Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Russell W. and Hermie Katherine Kauffman Wade Marlin.

He was a 1936 graduate of Washington Township High School.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

Early in life, he was employed by Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing in Hagerstown. He returned to Fairchild after his discharge from the military. He then worked for Nabisco Inc. in Williamsport as a truck driver for 27 years, retiring in 1973. Following retirement, he worked for Snook's Poultry in Hagerstown, and later at Foodland on Jefferson Boulevard. He was last employed part-time by Corderman Hardware Store in Hagerstown for 15 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown, AMVETS Post 10 in Hagerstown, and a life member of William B. Byron VFW Post 936 in Hagerstown.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Martin of Hagerstown; one son, Victor Marlin of Hagerstown; one brother, Lester Marlin of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Esther Starliper of Orange City, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special friend, Audrey E. McNaney of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Talhelm; two brothers, Russell W. Marlin Jr. and Emory J. Marlin; two half-brothers, John W. Wade and Frank C. Wade; and one granddaughter.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 6041 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, Pa. 17112-1208.

Shirley A. Scott

KNOXVILLE - Shirley Ann Scott, 59, of 242 Knoxville Road, died Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1938, in Garretts Mill (Weverton), she was the daughter of Mary Magaline Harris Gross, and the late Alvin Willie Harris.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, and the church choir.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 39 years, Charles Turner Scott; two daughters, Shelby Lynn Scott of Knoxville and Cathy Denise Warfield of Frederick, Md.; five sons, Stanley Pierre Scott and Jeffery Todd Scott, both of Knoxville, Charles Harris Scott of Martinsburg, W.Va., Terry Lee Scott of Brunswick, Md., and Brian Keith Scott of Thurmont, Md.; seven sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Frederick, Dorothy Douglas of Burtonsville, Md., Edith Weedon and Linda Harris, both of Hagerstown, Lillian McKelvin of Gaithersburg, and Rosemarie Carey of Largo, Md., and Marva Ambush of Garretts Mill, Md.; one brother, Lawrence Harris of Brunswick; three grandchildren; an aunt, uncles, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen R. Harris.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Garretts Mill. The Rev. Eugene Holmes will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Frederick County Chapter, 1011 E. Patrick St., Suite B, Frederick, Md. 21701.

Ellen B. Taylor

Ellen B. Taylor, 87, of 210 N. Jonathan St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center in Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 17, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Caesar and Lettie Allen Doleman.

Her husband, Sidney Taylor, died in 1953.

She was a member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann V. Doleman of Hagerstown; one sister, Marie A. White of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; and three brothers, Charles A. Doleman, Issac C. Doleman and Caesar V. Doleman, all of Hagerstown.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Leroy Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
