Dave J. Weckerly
Dave John Weckerly, 63, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1934, in Northfield, N.J., he was the son of the late Edna Marie Weckerly.
He was raised in Pleasantville, N.J., and was a 1952 graduate of Pleasantville High School.
He was formerly employed by Antietam Motors, Central Motors of Hagerstown and Greensboro Auto Auction, Greensboro, N.C.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose 212.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon M. Weckerly; one daughter, Roxanne Stevens of Kansas; one stepdaughter, Wendy Lamont of Minnesota; one granddaughter; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Kline.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
Perry F. Cromer
BOONSBORO - Perry F. "Pete" Cromer, 67, of 7224 Sharpsburg Pike, died Friday, July 3, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 13, 1931, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Margaret T. Cromer of Boonsboro.
He retired from Brandt Cabinet Works.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald N. Kretzer Sr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
Glenn E. Stanley
Glenn Edwin Stanley, 75, of 10830 Brentwood Terrace, Hagerstown, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at his home.
Born July 16, 1922, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Goff and Gladys Loyd Stanley.
He retired from Frederick Electronics. He was previously employed by Fairchild Industries.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Stanley; two daughters, Yvonne Graves of Reisterstown, Md., and Susan Higgins of Clear Spring; two sisters; two brothers; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
There will be no services.
Visitation will be at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
Joanne M. Murphy
TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Joanne Marie Murphy, 66, of Lane Avenue, died Friday, July 3, 1998, at Parrish Medical Center, Titusville.
She was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Hagerstown.
She came to Florida in 1965 from southern California.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mims, Fla.
She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne McPherson of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Lynn Abrams of Corona, Calif.; three sons, Steven Murphy of Mason, Ohio, David Murphy of Titusville and John Murphy of Corona; one sister, Ann Ford of Hagerstown; two brothers, Mike Denlinger of New Milford, N.J., and David Denlinger of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at North Brevard Funeral Home, Titusville, today from 6 to 8 p.m.
John R.L. Wenner
BRUNSWICK, Md. - John Ross Lee Wenner, 77, of 414 Ninth Ave., died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Aug. 20, 1920, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Ross Linden and Helen Maria Humphrey Wenner.
He retired in 1980 with 35 years of service as a conductor with the B&O Railroad in Brunswick.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army. He received the Silver Star serving under Gen. George S. Patton.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1582; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136; Steadman-Keenan Post 96 of American Legion, all of Brunswick; and Mason-Dixon Post 7234 of VFW, Ocean View, Del.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Hinckle Wenner; two daughters, Patsy Reed of Falls Church, Va., and Linda Nelson of Brunswick; three sisters, Mary Kearfott and Ernestine Phillips, both of Brunswick, and Lena Moler of Sparks, Md.; five brothers, Albert Wenner of Orlando, Fla., Bobby Wenner and Frank Wenner, both of Brunswick, Dickie Wenner of Sterling, Va., and Douglas Wenner of Ellicott City, Md.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Rice; and one brother, Charles Wenner.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Franklin D. Clawson
Franklin D. Clawson, 85, of 901 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Beaufort, N.C., he was the son of the late Charles A. and Jane P. Pool Clawson.
He was a retired auditor with the Federal Highway Administration. He had previously worked for the Internal Revenue Service.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beaufort.
He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
He is survived by his wife, Jane C. Clevidence Clawson; one daughter, Kristin D. Merckle of Greensburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Private services will be at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Betty A. Green
BOONSBORO - Betty Agnes Green, 66, of 21 School House Court, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Charlotte Edmonia Drenner Eaton.
She attended Boonsboro High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Greenbriar Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Junior Leroy Green; four daughters, Bonnie L. DeLauter of Middletown, Md., Martha L. Hall of Hagerstown, Brenda L. Canoles of Unger, W.Va., and Jean E. Green of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sons, Michael L. Green of Falling Waters and Gene E. Green of Martinsburg; two sisters, Jane A. Young of Smithsburg and Lucille G. Wright of Hanover, Pa.; two brothers, Ray L. Gifft of Inwood, W.Va., and Terry L. Gift of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Albert L. Leaf Memorial Chapel of Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. David L. Coblentz will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shirley Y. Baughman
CAVETOWN - Shirley Y. Baughman, 62, of Mapleville Road, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at her home.
Born Jan. 27, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Arlie R. and Nellie Hymes Nelson.
She was a 1992 graduate of Hagerstown Business College.
She retired from the Maryland Department of Social Services after 27 years, receiving a Governor's Citation for excellence.
She was a member of Christ Fellowship Assembly of God, Hagerstown.
She is survived by three daughters, Debra J. Pennesi of Cavetown, Dawn J. Bailey of Statesville, N.C., and Chrissy Grove of Westminster, Md.; a son, John Bradford Bixler of Westminster; two sisters, Arlene Horst and Eva Boward, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, Granville Nelson of Smithsburg, Timothy D. Nelson of Cumberland and Gerald W. Nelson of Ridgeley, W.Va.; five grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert Nelson and Ernest Nelson.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ Fellowship Assembly of God, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown. Pastor Dan Nason will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
