Carroll W. Brown
THURMONT, Md. - Carroll Wilbur Brown, 79, of North Church Street, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1918, in Thurmont, he was the son of the late George Wilbur and Ethel Pauline Baxter Brown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma P. Lewis Brown, in 1968.
He had been employed as a construction worker and carpenter for most of his life. He retired as a manager of Ben's Exxon in Thurmont.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Thurmont United Methodist Church.
He was a life member of Edwin C. Creeger American Legion Post 168 of Thurmont and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of Thurmont AMVETS Post 7, Guardian Hose Co. of Thurmont, VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg, Md., and Thurmont Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Irene C. Chaff Brown; two sons, Gerald W. Brown of Thurmont and Randolph L. Brown of Santa Ana, Calif.; a stepson, William M. Kervaski of Trussville, Ala.; a sister, Louise M. Blair of Thurmont; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Albert Brown and Robert Lee Brown.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont. The Rev. James L. Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Patricia M. Gladhill Stover
CASCADE - Patricia Marie Gladhill Stover, 59, of 14510 Water Company Road, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at her home.
Born July 14, 1940, in Cascade, she was the daughter of Berlene P. and Viola K. Sanders Toms of Cascade.
She was a 1959 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
She was employed as the assessment records clerk for the Maryland State Tax Assessment Office in the courthouse in Hagerstown for 16 years.
She was a member of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
She also was a member and past president of Cascade American Legion Post 239 Auxiliary, Blue Ridge Sportsmans Association and Fraternal Order of EAgles 1758 in Waynesboro, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Charles V. "Buster" Stover Jr., whom she married March 23, 1979; a daughter, Peggy Ann Heiston of Cascade; a son, Kenneth S. Smith of Rouzerville, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Karen L. Lantz of Waynesboro and Lara M. Stover of Hagerstown; three stepsons, Charles V. Stover III and Wade H. Stover, both of Rouzerville, and Joseph O. Stover of Williamson, Pa.; two sisters, Shirley Ann Kuhn and Karen E. Moser, both of Cascade; a half sister, Beverly Forsyth of Williamsport; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Gladhill.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Antony Attumaly will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Lillian N. Gilmore
Lillian Nona Gilmore, 85, of 206 Hayes Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at her home.
Born Oct. 15, 1912, in Cassville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Bessie Cornelius Lane.
Her husband, Harry F. Gilmore, died in 1996.
She was a 1930 graduate of Lewistown High School.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra J. Gilmore of Hagerstown; two grandsons, Kevin S. Gilmore and Larry E. Butler Jr., both of Hagerstown; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held today at noon at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor in Bellwood, Pa. The Rev. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 10 a.m. to noon.
Kenneth L. Cline Sr.
Kenneth Leo Cline Sr., 70, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born June 23, 1928, in Mapleville, Md., he was the son of the late George Jacob and Rosa Mae McKee Cline.
He retired from Mack Truck in 1988 after 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
He was a member of AARP and UAW.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Lee Weaver Cline of Hagerstown; a daughter, Anita Ann Hung of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, Kenneth L. Cline II of Greenville, N.C., and Theodore Lee Cline Sr. of Willow Grove, Pa.; a sister, Elizabeth Rife of Chambersburg, Pa.; a brother, George Jacob Cline Jr. of Williamsport; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Cline; a brother, Raymond Cline; and a stepbrother, Howard Strife.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Manalis will be celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Joseph F. Rouse
WILLIAMSPORT - Joseph F. Rouse, 77, of Milestone Garden, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 2, 1921, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Martin Francis and Kathryn Elizabeth Burkhart Rouse.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Slick Rouse, in 1996.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by C&P Telephone Co. for 35 years.
He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and American Legion Post 202, Williamsport.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Hull of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a son, Gregory A. Rouse of Williamsport; two sisters, Shirley A. Stahle of Fayetteville, N.C., and Linda L. Sutton of Felton, Calif.; a brother, Francis Rouse of Davidsonville, Md.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James Brethren Church, 17718 Lappans Road, St. James. The Rev. Brian Moore will officiate.

Peggy S. Ford
FREDERICK, Md. - Peggy Sue Webber Ford, 39, of 1080 Carlton Place, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1959, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Thelma Hoffman Webber.
She is survived by three sisters, Kathy M. Ecker of Poolesville, Md., Sue A. Webber of Hagerstown and Wanda L. Bowen of Texas; a brother, Frederick D. Webber of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at noon in Etchison Memorial Chapel of Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Michael L. Albro will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Sarah Jane McCammon
Sarah Jane McCammon, 54, of 12930 The Terrace, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 24, 1943, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Martha E. Meyers Staton.
She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education.
She was a member of Hagerstown Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Washington County Teachers Association and Maryland State Teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Donald R. McCammon; and a son, Geoffrey S. McCammon of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles S. Staton Jr.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Hagerstown Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Ailstock will officiate.
