Charles E. Lynch

HANCOCK - Charles Edmond Lynch, 58, of 34 Vista Village in Hancock, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at his home.

Born Aug. 6, 1940, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of Lena Rhodes Lynch and the late Frank Lynch.

He worked in construction and as an orchard laborer.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife, Zelda May Saunders Lynch; four daughters, April Horning of Pittsburgh, and Thumbalena Dove, Bonneta Lynch and Shannon Lynch, all of Hancock; four sons, Wayne A. Lynch of McConnellsburg, Kevin Lynch of Florida, and Charles W. Lynch and Ira Lynch, both of Hancock; two sisters, Kathy Heinbaugh of Mercersburg, Pa., and Cheryl Tritle of McConnellsburg; six brothers, Ronald Lynch of Ocala, Fla., and Franklin Lynch, Richard Lynch, George Lynch, James Lynch and Denny Lynch, all of McConnellsburg; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles R. Lynch; and one sister, Bonnie Lynch.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Union Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Military services will be conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg, Pa.

Madison D. Williams Stoner

Madison Destiny Williams Stoner, infant daughter of Ellery Williams of New York and Janelle Angela Stoner of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

She is survived by two sisters, Kelsey Reed and Whitney Wolfe, both at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stoner of Hagerstown; paternal grandmother, Annie Gholson of New York; and one uncle.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Roland Robertson.

A graveside service will be held today at noon at Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate.

Maxine M. Sisk

Maxine Masuria Sisk, 74, of 910 Armstrong Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 27, 1924, in Montgomery, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Samuel and Lera Allen McCain.

She formerly was employed by Southern Bell Telephone.

She was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Eldred L. Sisk; two sons, Michael R. Sisk of New Market, Md., and Kenneth E. Sisk of Hagerstown; two sisters, Lucille Gregory and Elizabeth Holt, both of Montgomery; one brother, James McCain of Montgomery; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Aileen Wright.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Harold P. Atkins will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William R. Palmer Jr.

William Raymond Palmer Jr., 68, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 15, 1929 in Benevola, Md., he was the son of the late William R. and Henrietta Neal Palmer Sr.

He retired from Kmart, and previously was employed with A & P and B. F. Goodrich.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Louise Sowers Palmer; one daughter, Robin Micco of Clear Spring; one brother, Edward Palmer of Sarasota, Fla.; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. C. Albert Guyer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Maugansville Ambulance, in care of Maugansville Fire Co., P.O. Box 716, Maugansville, Md. 21767.

Lana J. Souders Wagner

BOONSBORO - Lana Jane Souders Wagner, 72, of 21270 Mount Lena Road, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1925, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late David and Mary Ellen Kuhn Souders.

She formerly was employed for 15 years as a nursing assistant at Fahrney-Keedy Home.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul D. Wagner; three daughters, Barbara L. Lewis of Wolfsville, Md., Linda I. Airesman of Somerset, Pa., and Lisa C. Wade of Boonsboro; three sons, Paul M. Wagner of Maude, Okla., Phillip G. Wagner of Boonsboro and Mark G. Wagner of McCloud, Okla.; three sisters, Ann Sapp of Valparaiso, Fla., Olive Graham of Hagerstown and Mabel Wolfe of Wolfsville; four brothers, Hubert Souders of Hagerstown, Merle Souders of Wichita, Kan., Leon Souders of Mercersburg, Pa., and William Souders of Boonsboro; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Brunner and Beulah Rowe; and one brother, Joe Souders.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Brian H. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in San Mar.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sarah M. Bowman

Sarah Mabel Bowman, 94, who died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, was a resident of Clearview Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

E. Edward Miller Jr.

POPE AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. - E. Edward Miller Jr., 43, of Pope Air Force Base, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Chesapeake General Hospital, Chesapeake, Va., after a drowning accident in Nags Head, N.C.

Born Feb. 11, 1955, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Alta Mae Hixon Miller of LaVale, Md., and the late Ernest Edward Miller Sr.

He was a 1973 graduate of Allegany High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from West Virginia University. He was awarded his master of science degree in environmental engineering at the University of Colorado through the Air Force Institute of Technology.

He was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Air Force in 1983. He was acting commander of the Civil Engineering Squadron at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. He had served at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea and Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio. He also had served at the Pentagon, Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio and Shephard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Robin Humbertson Miller; three children, Sarah Miller, Scott Miller and Jacqueline "Jackie" Miller; and a brother, Larry Miller of Hagerstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cumberland, Md. Monsignor James V. Hobbs will be celebrant. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, with graveside military honors by Bolling Air Force Base Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland.

Richard L. Ebersole

Richard Lee "Dick" Ebersole, 72, of 1100 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md.

Born July 11, 1926, in Chestnut Grove, Md., he was the son of the late Leonard Guy and Mary Ethel Metz Ebersole.

He was employed with Hagerstown Shoe Co., retiring after 42 years.

He was a member of Miller's Tabernacle.

He was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 212 of Hagerstown.

He enjoyed fishing and cooking.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mildred L. Ebersole; a brother, Dennis Ebersole of Dargan; two nieces; a nephew; and a friend, Annette Cooper of Hagerstown.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor C. Walter Hock will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Daniel R. Higman

BOONSBORO - Daniel Roger "Jack" Higman, 88, of 21274 Mount Lena Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at his home.

Born May 2, 1910, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William R. and Leila M. Manges Higman.

He was a retired employee of People's Drug Store in Hagerstown.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by seven nieces and nephews, and three cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lee Miller; and a brother, Harold M. Higman.

Private graveside services will be at Beaver Creek Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Mark Curran will officiate.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 92 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Margaret R. Blickenstaff

SMITHSBURG - Margaret R. Blickenstaff, 78, of Bradbury Avenue, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 17, 1919, in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edgar M. "Jimmy" and Mary Alice Wolfe Hoffman.

She retired from Doubleday Co. in Smithsburg.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie L. Barnhart of Hagerstown; a sister, Mary A. Carson of Baltimore; a granddaughter, Pam S. Kint of Woodsboro, Md.; a great-grandson; a great-great-granddaughter; a niece and a nephew.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. Donald Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
