Rebecca J. Easterday

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Rebecca Jean Easterday, 61, of Boynton Beach, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at her home.

She was born in Hagerstown.

She graduated from Boonsboro High School and from Sinai Hospital in Baltimore as a registered nurse.

She moved to South Florida in 1958 and worked in area hospitals.

She is survived by a brother, Bob "Pat" Easterday of Lugoff, S.C.; a niece; two nephews; a great-niece; three aunts and five cousins.

A memorial service will be today at 6 p.m. at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, Boynton Beach. Deacon Ed LaRacque will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, cancer research or your local hospice organization.

Virginia C. Gowan

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Virginia Carol Gowan, 39, of 310 W. Potomac St., died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at her home.

Born Jan. 26, 1959, in New Orleans, she was the daughter of Agnes Virginia Edwards of Gapland and the late John Charles Heaton Jr.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Don Gowan of Bolivia, N.C.; a daughter, Jennifer Gowan of Bolivia; a son, Leon Evans of Burgaw, N.C.; four sisters, Robin Stoughton and Patricia Dawson, both of Brunswick, Joyce Wachter of Charles Town, W.Va., and Sandy Molyneaux of Dover, Pa.; three brothers, Charles Heaton of Lovettsville, Va., Kenny Edwards of Brunswick and Tiff Edwards of Jefferson, Md.; maternal grandparents, Dorothy Gray of Charles Town and Robert Gray of Leesburg, Va.; and a special friend, Richard Griffin of Brunswick.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Kenny Edwards Jr.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Donald F. Sause will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville Heights.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Grace L. Rebaric

HANCOCK - Grace L. Rebaric, 75, of West High Street, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.

Born April 6, 1923, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Emma Robison Boden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Rebaric, in 1972.

She retired from the production division of Mine Safety in Pittsburgh.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hancock.

She is survived by four sisters, Mildred Snow of Hancock, Leona Austermiller of Napoleon, Ohio, Ruth Spangler of Malinta, Ohio, and Regina Ward of Clearville, Pa.; four brothers, Bruce Boden of Hagerstown, Merle Boden of Napoleon, Paul Boden of Ottawa, Ohio, and Ralph Boden of Clear Spring; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister and two brothers, Van Boden and Robert Boden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 16 E. High St., Hancock. The Rev. George W. Glick will be celebrant. Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Braddock Catholic Cemetery, Braddock Hills, Pa.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Eric B. Boyer Sr.

CLEAR SPRING - Eric Bruce Boyer Sr., 70, of 10826 National Pike, died Thursday, Aug. 13, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 19, 1928, in Millersville, Md., he was the son of the late Frank Julian and Virginia Elizabeth Hersch Boyer.

He was a retired driver and dispatcher for Greyhound Bus Lines. He retired from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in 1991.

He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Hagerstown.

He served in the Merchant Marine.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ann Daniels Boyer; a daughter, Beverly Ann Sprague of Arlington, Va.; three sons, Eric B. Boyer II of Tigard, Ore., Douglas Mark Boyer of Big Pool, and Brian David Boyer of Clear Spring; three sisters, Carolyn Thompson of Greenville, N.C., and Auda Boyer and Kathryn Carroll, both of Myersville, Md.; five brothers, Frank J. Boyer of Lancaster, Va., Norval E. Boyer of Glen Burnie, Md., Harold G. Boyer of Severna Park, Md., Horace R. Boyer of Springfield, Mo., and Charles B. Boyer of Millersville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald H., Byron G. and Bernarr Boyer.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Revs. Terry Broadwater, Wes Johnson and Arvel Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clear Spring Ambulance Club, P.O. Box 61, Clear Spring, Md. 21722.

Bertha A. Thorne

BALTIMORE - Bertha Adelaide Thorne, 81, of Baltimore, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at her home.

Born May 5, 1917, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha McLaughlin Schenning.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Thorne.

She was a 1935 graduate of Seton High School, Baltimore.

She had been a homemaker.

She was a member of Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church, Baltimore.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Anne Gordon of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Donna Berkey of Delta, Pa.; five grandchildren, Debbie Butler and Nick Walters, both of Baltimore, and Emily, Natalie and Ryan Berkey, all of Delta.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church, BelAir Road and Brendon Avenue, Baltimore. The Rev. Michael Orchik will be celebrant. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Baltimore.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Schimunek Funeral Home, 3331 Brehms Lane, Baltimore.

Beulah M. Bohrer

BIG POOL, Md. - Beulah May Bohrer, 92, of 11035 Big Pool Road, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 28, 1906, in Blairs Valley, Md., she was the daughter of the late James Lewis and Minerva Suffecool Rowland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Bohrer, in 1966.

She was a 1924 graduate of Clear Spring High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church of Big Pool.

She is survived by a son, Roy Edwin Bohrer of Big Pool; two grandsons, Terry E. Bohrer of Big Pool and James M. Bohrer of Clear Spring; two great-granddaughters; and two great-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a son, Howard L. Bohrer; three sisters, Louise Funkhouser, Corrine Kitzmiller and Daisy Baker; and two brothers, Amos Rowland and Lawrence Rowland.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring.

Robert M. Hammond

YARROWSBURG - Robert Murray Hammond, 78, of 2128 Reed Road, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born April 1, 1920, in Sandy Hook, he was the son of the late William S. and Mabelle M. Hughes Hammond.

He retired in 1982 as a mason with A. Myron Cowell.

He was a staff sergeant in the Battery B, 4th Field Artillery Battalion of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon.

He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Brownsville.

He was a member of the Steadman-Keenan American Legion Post 96 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10421, both in Brunswick, Md.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ellen M. Fouch Hammond; a daughter, Judith E. Hammond of Yarrowsburg; two sons, Dennis R. Hammond and David K. Hammond, both of Yarrowsburg; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2150 Boteler Road, Brownsville. The Rev. Charles R. Holder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Helen M. Bowen

Helen Miller Bowen, 87, of 11926 Dormayne Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 26, 1911, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Albert B. Miller and Minnie Idella Cline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Corliss H. Bowen.

She retired from Geico Insurance Co. in Chevy Chase, Md., after more than 30 years of service.

She was a member of AARP, a volunteer of Hagerstown Community College and a volunteer for American Red Cross.

She is survived by three sisters, Mary L. Bragunier, Betty J. Delosier and Glenna E. Brechbill, all of Hagerstown; two brothers, A. Romayne Miller and John Harlan Miller, both of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte R. Baker; and a brother, Robert K. Miller.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Revs. Jim Hoffer and John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The viewing will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles A. Faulhaber

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - Charles Adam Faulhaber, 50, of 9803 Rosaryville Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, Md.

Born Sept. 10, 1947, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of A. Louise Faulhaber of Hagerstown and the late Charles B. Faulhaber.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of Classic Chevy Club.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Gloria Alice Turner Faulhaber; a daughter, Deborah A. Hebron of Green Bay, Wis.; a son, Charles Faulhaber of Minot, N.D.; a brother, Joseph M. Faulhaber of Stafford, Va.; four grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews.

Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Bruce A. Foster will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. today.
