Sara J. Faith
CLEAR SPRING - Sara Jane Faith, 84, of 13930 Dry Run Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 21, 1914, in Big Spring, she was the daughter of the late Tunis Ellis and Jane Rubeck Newkirk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Mason Faith, in 1972.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, Fairview.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Faith of Clear Spring; a brother, John D. Newkirk of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Katrina D. Faith; and a grandson, Ronald K. Faith.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Madelyn Louise Faith in 1963; three sisters, Evelyn L. Ervin, Mabel Faith and Madge Corbett; one brother, Clyde "Pete" Newkirk; two half sisters, Nellie K. Newkirk and Nora E. Newkirk; and four half brothers, Harry E. Newkirk, Ralph T. Newkirk, Clarence P. Newkirk and Frederick T. Newkirk.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Mary Amundson and Ronald Faith will officiate. Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hugh B. Hege
WILLIAMSPORT - Hugh Bittner Hege, 98, of Homewood Retirement Community, formerly of 43 Roessner Ave., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1900, near Marion, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward B. and Margaret Grove Hege.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Edna E. Hege, in 1945; and his second wife, Leone S. Hege, in 1981.
He attended Cumberland Valley State Normal School in Shippensburg, Pa., now Shippensburg University.
He was employed by Supreme Concrete Block & Products Inc., retiring in 1966. He previously was employed by Stickell's Mill.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
He was a member of Friendship Lodge 84, AF&M; the Ithiel Royal Arch Chapter 27, RAM, past high priest, past secretary and past sentinel; Palestine Council 16, Royal and Select Master; St. Bernard Commandery 9, Knights Templer where he was an officer; Ali Ghan Temple, AAONMS of Cumberland, Md.; Hagerstown Shrine Club; Hagerstown Forest 95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, past scribe; and AARP.
He is survived by two nieces, Irene Small of Knoxville, Tenn., and Ann Yankopoulos of Muskegon, Mich.; two nephews, John H. Lehman of Waynesboro, Pa., and Edward P. Hege of Sacramento, Calif.; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Carroll Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Marion, Pa.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Friendship Lodge 84, AF&M.

Thelma V. Jones
Thelma Virginia Jones, 74, of 1134 Luther Drive, and formerly of 236 Devonshire Road, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Paul Snodderly Sr. and Oda Mae Frush Snodderly.
She was a retired employee of Fairchild Industries.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Temple Builders Sunday School Class.
She was a member of Fairchild Old Timers, West End Old Timers, United Auto Workers Union, Local 842 and AARP.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thurman C. Jones; one daughter, Bernice Ann Wolfensberger of Hagerstown, one son, Robert W. "Bobby" Jones of Hagerstown; two sisters, Cleo L. Burger and Gladys M. Biser, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ernest P. Snodderly Jr. and Leonard E. Snodderly, both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Ruth A. Stiles
BOONSBORO - Ruth A. Stiles, 84, of Boonsboro, formerly of Seward, Pa., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Western Maryland Hospital.
Born June 5, 1914, in Seward, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Cora Brown McCullough.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Stiles.
She was a member of Dilltown Baptist Church, Dilltown, Pa.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Dorothy Deemer of Boonsboro; one brother, Charles McCullough of Johnstown, Pa.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Martha Tomb McCullough; one brother, John McCullough; and two infant sisters, Mary McCullough and Martha McCullough.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at John A. Meese Funeral Home in Seward, Pa. Burial will be in Armagh Cemetery, Armagh, Pa.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lewis A. Shatzer
Lewis A. Shatzer, 74, of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998.
Born May 25, 1924, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Phillip S. and Mary E. Weaver Shatzer Sr.
He was a plumber for more than 40 years; and retired from Hull Plumbing and Heating Co.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.
He was a life member of VFW William D. Byron Post 1936.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia A. Fritz and Mary E. Barnhart, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Lewis A. Shatzer of New London, Conn., Barry W. Shatzer of Hagerstown and C. Allen Shatzer of Taneytown, Md.; a sister, Bertha C. Bryant of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Perrott; and five brothers, Charles Shatzer, Paul Shatzer, John Shatzer, Samuel Shatzer and Phillip Shatzer.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Anne Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Newman Norford
BOONSBORO - Newman Norford, 85, of 200 Della Lane, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 5, 1913, in Grottoes, Va., he was the son of the late Lloyd Cleveland and Essie May Murphy Norford.
He was a graduate of Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Md.
He was a supporter of Boonsboro High School sports; and had been honored for his dedication by Boonsboro Athletic Boosters Association.
He is survived by cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis E. Norford.
Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph Downs will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Leonard G. Jamison
SHARPSBURG - Leonard Garrott Jamison, 89, of Sharpsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at his home.
Born Dec. 28, 1908, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Worthington and Minnie Florence Gray Jamison.
He was a former employee of Federal Silk Mill, Williamsport; and retired in 1973 from Grand Union supermarket, Hagerstown.
He was a member of Antietam Church of God, and was a Sunday school superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Virginia Marshall Jamison, whom he married on April 26, 1930; two daughters, Leona F. Violet of Boonsboro and Letty A. Drenner of Sharpsburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Grove and Mary Churchey; and two brothers, Webster Jamison and Reno Jamison.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Ralph Jamison will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
Rosemary J. Allen
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Rosemary Jane Allen, 50, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998.
Born in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Hutzell and Evelyn Raynolds.
She was a homemaker.She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was a member of Moose Lodge 624, Lake City, where she was a member of the Pool League.
She is survived by her husband, Oscar "O.J." Allen of Lake City; and a daughter, Cindy Beachley of Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Max Reeder.
There will be no service or visitation.
