Charles C. Kline

BOONSBORO - Charles Calvin Kline, 87, of 7720 Sharpsburg Pike, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.

Born March 23, 1911, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Susan Naile Kline.

He was a farmer on Wilbur Moser Farm and previously was employed by Hoffman Mill.

He was a member of Battlefield Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mabel Irene Valentine Kline; three daughters, Ruth Ann Kaetzel of Boonsboro, Susan C. Walizer of Loganton, Pa., and Loretta M. Kline of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Valentine; and a brother, Roy Kline.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Battlefield Bible Church, 7708 Sharpsburg Pike, Fairplay. The Rev. Henry A. Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro; and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Friends may call on Monday after 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Battlefield Bible Church, P.O. Box 30, Fairplay, Md. 21733.

Keith H. Patterson

Keith H. Patterson, 41, of 1011 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore.

Born March 31, 1957, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Raymond C. and Norma J. Kinkel Patterson of Hagerstown.

He was a 1979 graduate of Western Maryland College, where he received his bachelor of arts in economics and business administration. He graduated cum laude. He was junior and senior class president, student government representative, a member of Circle K Club and adviser for the Junior Achievement program. He was elected to Pi Gamma Mu National Honors Society for the Social Sciences and appeared in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He also was a member of the college band, jazz ensemble and brass ensemble.

He was president of Patterson Insurance Agency.

He was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church, where he sang in the adult choir. He was a former member of Zion United Church of Christ, where he served on the consistory and as benevolent treasurer.

He was a member of Hagerstown Life Underwriters; Maryland State Life Underwriters; National Association of Life Underwriters; and American Society of CLU & ChFC Western Maryland Chapter 290. He was first vice president of the Rotary Club of Hagerstown. He was scoutmaster for Troop 4 of the Boy Scouts of America and served as a commissioner with the Mason Dixon Council. He was a member of the American Heart Association, where he co-chaired the 1998 Heart Walk; Planned Giving Council; and Antietam Health Board, where he served as vice chairman. He was a former member of the Washington County Hospital board.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Shelby A. Patterson of Hagerstown; a son, Justin S. Moser of Hagerstown; a sister, Sue E. Graff of Hagerstown; a brother, James B. Patterson of Hagerstown; seven nieces; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Maranatha Brethren Church, 19835 Scott Hill Drive, Hagerstown. Pastor Jay M. Fretz will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 322 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740; Boy Scouts Mason Dixon Council, 18600 Crestwood Drive, Hagerstown, Md. 21740; or Maranatha Brethren Church, 19835 Scott Hill Drive, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Reginald L. King

Reginald Lamont King, 35, of 109-18 Bayberry Court, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born April 2, 1963, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Agnes Broadus of Hagerstown.

He attended South Hagerstown High School.

He was a self-employed drywall hanger.

He attended Campher Memorial Church.

He enjoyed sports, restoring automobiles and doing home repairs.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Kirk Mitchell King of Hagerstown; a sister, Nedra L. King Keyes of Hagerstown; two brothers, Pierie Long of Norris, Pa., and Troy Long of Berwyn, Pa.; aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles W. Broadus.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Campher Memorial Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Derick Kee will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Viewing will be Monday one hour prior to services at the church.

Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Ida C. Bowers

Ida Catherine Bowers, of 12 Fourth St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at Ravenwood Nursing Home.

Born in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Hugh O. and Cora Mae Gross Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Bowers, in 1989.

She was a member of Sharpsburg Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg.

She was a member of American Legion Funkstown 211 Auxiliary, Eagles of Hagerstown Auxiliary and AARP.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Isanogle of Hagerstown; three nieces; and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty V. Bowers; a sister, Mary Madeline McGraw; and two brothers, James B. Fisher and Robert D. Fisher.

Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sharpsburg Lutheran Church, 201 E. Main St., Sharpsburg, Md. 21782.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Patrick J. Soroko

Patrick James Soroko, 41, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 11, 1957, in Takoma Park, Md., he was the son of Stanley R. Soroko of Crownsville, Md., and Phyllis J. Thomas Soroko of Gapland.

He was a client of Turning Point of Washington County and had been MVP of their softball league.

He volunteered with the Washington County SPCA and was a chess enthusiast.

He was a Catholic.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Louise M. Soroko of California; a brother, Philip Soroko of Houston; aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Washington County SPCA, P.O. Box 367, Maugansville, Md. 21767.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

Robert S. Shubert

WILLIAMSPORT - Robert Samuel Shubert, 66, of 163 N. Conococheague St., died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at his home.

Born July 1, 1932, in Washington County, he was the son of the late William Henry and Anna Mae Harden Shubert.

He was employed as a butcher with Holsinger Butcher Shop. He also had worked with Kline Roofing and in maintenance for R.E. Socks.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Shubert of Hagerstown; a sister, Mildred Evelyn Sprecher of Hagerstown; a brother, John Donald Shubert of South Carolina; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Slayman; and a brother, William H. Shubert Jr.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery. Daniel P. Staley will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Frances E. Weller

BIG POOL - Frances Elizabeth Weller, 68, of 12769 Indian Springs Road, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.

Born June 28, 1930, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Milburn and Helen Elizabeth Hose Kirby.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mooresville Church of God in Big Pool, where she had served as treasurer for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Garvin Paige Weller; a son, Keith A. Weller of Big Pool; three sisters, Nancy Campello of Hagerstown, Mary Brandenburg of Tucson, Ariz., and Betty Alderman of Winchester, Va.; seven brothers, James Bill Kirby, Kenneth E. Kirby, Paul E. Kirby and Donald G. Kirby, all of Williamsport, Ronald L. Kirby of Hagerstown, Robert L. Kirby of Hickman, Tenn., and Ernest M. Kirby Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 10 nieces and 19 nephews.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. Dean Metcalf will officiate. Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Edwin R. Hull

CLEAR SPRING - Edwin Rudolph Hull, 75, of 14702 National Pike, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at his home.

Born April 5, 1923, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Francis P. and Olive Carbaugh Hull.

He retired from Penn Central Railroad, after 42 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp.

He was a member of Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring.

He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise G. Perry Hull; a son, Lynn Edwin Hull of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and two sisters, Phyllis Kelly of Hagerstown and Doris Johnson of Clear Spring.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis W. Hull.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Blane Feightner will officiate. Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring, with graveside military services conducted by members of Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clear Spring Ambulance Club, P.O. Box 61, Clear Spring, Md. 21722.
