Trice, Grace Rebecca Blades

Grace Rebecca Blades Trice of Seaford died at Genesis Elder Care in Seaford on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at the age of 86.

She was born in Cambridge, Maryland on November 26, 1914 the daughter of the late James and Olive Cannon Blades. Her husband or 47 years, Irving W. Trice preceded her in death in 1986.

She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School and was a homemaker

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Trice Lockhart of Wilmington, DE, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Nancy Lee preceded her in death in 1989.

Graveside services for her will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at 11:00 am in Hill Crest cemetery in Federalsburg, Maryland. Reverend Dan walker will officiate.

Tiller, Emerson

Emerson Tiller, 95, of Perryville, MD, died Sunday August 19, 2001 at home.

Mr. Tiller was born on July 4, 1906 in Drill, Virginia. He worked for AT&T for 32 years before retiring in 1970. He was a member of the Pioneers for AT&T and the Church of God.

He is survived by 2 sons, Emerson H. Tiller of Lowell, IN and Michael M. Tiller of Camp Hill, PA; a daughter, Katherine A. Chestnut of Perryville; a brother, Clarence Harris of Edgewood, MD; a sister, Helen Booth of Bel Air, MD; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Stella K. Tiller, who passed away in February of 2001 and a daughter, Joyce Tiller.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 22, 2001 at the Church of God on Hopewell Road in Rising Sun. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. at R. T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD. Burial will be in Hopewell cemetery, Port Deposit, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of God c/o funeral home

Wallace, Louise Eberspacher

Louise Eberspacher Wallace, 95, of Salisbury, died Saturday, August 18, 2001 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salem, MD in Dorchester County, she was the daughter of the late William Frederick and Caroline Kuebler Eberspacher. Her husband, Russell Edward Wallace preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wallace worked for many years at Mrs. Blaine’s Drive-In in Salisbury. She was a dietitian at the Pine Bluff State Hospital, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Maryland Classified Employee’s Association.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Anna E. Wallace, Bertha E. Eiermann, and Minnie E. Boog; and two brothers: Fred E. Eberspacher and Carl H. Eberspacher.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at 1 PM at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Oren Perdue will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Long, Edward Hughie

Edward Hughie Long, 75 of Salisbury, died Sunday, August 19, 2001 at Snow Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Snow Hill, MD. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Hughie Jackson Long of Princess Anne, MD and the late Ethel Catherine Carmean.

Mr. Long was a member of Worcester County Farm Bureau. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a U. S. Army veteran who served during World War II.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mable Marie Bromley Long of Salisbury; four daughters and their husbands: Lois Ann and James H. Hayman of Berlin, Gail and William E. Tarr Sr. of Eden, Debbie and Earl Holland Sr. of Snow Hill and Karen and George Truitt of Eden; four grandchildren: Troy Tarr, David Perdue, Jenni Truitt, and Crystal Truitt; five great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: William A. Long of Salisbury and Elwood B. Long of Champ, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2001 at 2 PM at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM and on Friday one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Gilbert Perdue will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.

Robinson, Scott Allan

Scott Allan Robinson of Smithville, near Federalsburg died Friday, August 17, 2001 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE. He was 33.

He was born on December 2, 1967, the son of E. Wayne Robinson and Leona Wilson Robinson of Smithville.

He graduated from Colonel Richardson High School class of 1985. He married Ivy Marker on April 17, 1992.

He was a tenth generation farmer of Possum Hill Farms in Smithville. He previously worked for Nabisco in Cambridge. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Federalsburg, the Caroline County Farm Bereau, and he was an instructor/mentor in the 4H program. He was a member of the Nanticoke Lodge # 172 A.F. and A.M. in Federalsburg and he was also a member of Edenton Royal Arts Chapter # 36 and Adoniram Council #21 R. & S. M. of Denton, and Chesapeake Commandery # 10 Knights Templar of Denton.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Ivy Marker Robinson and their 8 year old twins, Scott Allan Robinson, Jr., and Allen Wayne Robinson all of Smithville, two brothers, David Shawn Robinson of Denton, MD, and Christopher Lee Robinson and his wife Sue of Timmonsville, SC., his paternal grandmother, Carol Robinson of Smithville.

A funeral service for Him will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. with a

asonic Service starting at 2:45 at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Reverend Dan Walker officiating. Friends may call the funeral home two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Bloomery cemetery in Smithville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Trust Fund For Scott Jr. and Allen Robinson, c/o Provident State Bank, 325 Bloomingdale Avenue, Federalsburg, MD 21632.

Hooper, George Hayward

George Hayward Hooper of Federalsburg, MD died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. He was 80.

He was born April 2, 1921 in Jonestown-Preston, MD, the son of the late Carrie and William Hooper.

He was a WW II Army veteran and had worked for many years for the former J. W. Stowell's Printing Co. in Federalsburg. He also worked at Waverly Press in Easton, U-Star Transportation and Laurel Grove Apartments in Federalsburg. His first love was cooking and he always strived to feed the masses with his famous Goulash. His second love was good gospel music and he was known as the "Father" of The Second Generation Community Chorus. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, a member of The Community Chorus of Federalsburg and later became a member of the Young Adult Choir at the church where he sang a mellow tenor.

He is survived by his wife Iris M. Magee Hooper, five children, Robert C. Hooper of Greer, SC, Ambia V. Hooper of Federalsburg, Kenneth L. Hooper of Wilmington, DE, Carolyn M. Brinkley of Federalsburg, and Ralph E. Hooper of Middletown, DE; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Hooper, and eight brothers and sisters, Clare Hooper, Blanche Thomas, Marie Hooper, Mary Hooper, Lottie Hooper, Miles Bernard Hooper, William "Biggy" Hooper and James Hooper.

Funeral services will be held on Wed. Aug. 8, 2001 at 12 Noon at Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg, with Dr. Rev. Joshua Lebelo officiating. Interment will follow in Federal Hill cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Rogers, Arthur David

Arthur David Rogers of Preston, MD, died at his home in Harmony, on Wednesday, August 8, 2001. He was 76.

Born at home in West Amwell Township, NJ on Oct. 6, 1924, the son of the late John Ambrose and Martha H. Pierson Rogers. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Mae Todd Rogers, who died July 22, 2001.

He attended Mt. Range School in West Amwell Township, NJ. Mr. Rogers farmed in NJ until moving to Maryalnd in 1954. He and his wife maintained a chicken production and produce farm in Harmony.

Mr. Rogers is survived by two children, David William "Bill" Rogers of Harmony and Mary Faye Stevens of Greenwood, DE; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mildred Bauer of Flemington, NJ and Eleanor Smith of Holiday, FL and many nieces and nephews. One sister and four brothers preceded him in death, Ann R. Leverton (West Amwell Township), William Edgar "Dutch" Rogers (Pittstown, NJ_, John A. "Jack" Rogers, Jr. (Greensboro, MD), Harry "Sheriff" Rogers (Harmony, MD), and Charles S. Rogers (Ringos, NJ).

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg, MD with Rev. Howard "Buddy" Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Towers, Myra Lucille

Myra Lucille Towers of Preston, MD, died Monday, August 13, 2001at her daughters home in Henderson. She was 81.

She was born on November 11, 1919 in Claiborne, MD, the daughter of the late Roland Black and Cleo Marshall Black. Her husband, Lester J. Towers preceded her in death on March 7, 1999.

She graduated from St, Michaels High School. She worked at McCord's Laundry in Easton for more than 20 years, and helped her husband raise broilers for ConAgra and Allen Family Foods.

She is survived by a son, Denman "Bud" Stevenson of Preston, a daughter, Sandra Holland of Henderson, a niece whom she raised, Teresa Lewis of Preston, a brother, Bill Black of Chester, MD, a sister, Shirley Seward of Grasonville, MD, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Black, and three sisters, Jane Black, Bette Benton, and Patra Pulley.

Funeral services for her will be held on Friday Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Junior Order cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Ward Jr., Stephen "Shorty" James

Stephen James “Shorty” Ward Jr., 85, of Pocomoke City, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a short battle with cancer.

Born December 29, 1915 in Stockton, MD he was the son of the late Stephen James and Lillie Pruitt Ward. He was married to the late Pauline Ward who died in 1952.

Mr. Ward was raised in the Stockton area and was an automobile mechanic. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #93 and the VFW Post #8622 in Pocomoke City.

He is survived by has daughter, Betty Capps of Virginia Beach; a sister, Virginia Ward of Salisbury; two nephews, Ronald Lee Floyd of Pocomoke City and Ford “Chipper” Hitchens of South Carolina; a niece, Carole Lynch of Laurel, DE and special neighbors and friends, Bobby and Jeanne. His sister, Mary W. Outten, preceded him in death in 1998.

A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, May 11, 2001 at 10:00 am at the Goodwill Methodist cemetery on Boston Road in Pocomoke City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.
