Thomas F. Quesenberry Sr., 72, of Pikesville, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Sinai Hospital Center, Baltimore.

Services and interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

Ethel M. Snader, 93, of Silver Run

Ethel Mae Snader, 93, of Silver Run, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born Sept. 13, 1910, in Mount Airy, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Baker Bussard. She was the wife of Sterling N. Snader, who died in 1988.

She was a graduate of Mount Airy High School.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Silver Run.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Janet I. and Peter Comings of New Windsor; and grandson and granddaughter-in-law John and Debbie Comings of near Philadelphia, Pa.

She was predeceased by brothers C. Edwin, Augustus, Harry and Woodrow; and sisters Hilda Ecker and Mary Brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, with her pastor, the Rev. H. Lee Brumback II, officiating.

Interment will be in Pipe Creek cemetery, New Windsor.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, Pa.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.

Michael L. Armstrong, 55, of Owings Mills

Michael Lawrence Armstrong, 55, of Owings Mills, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at his residence.

There will be no service.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

MiKayla R. Barrett, 14 months, of Westminster

MiKayla Rae Barret, 14 months, of Westminster, died suddenly Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Sept. 26, 2002, she was the daughter of Robin Barrett and Anthony Flakes of Westminster.

Surviving are sisters Alicia Marie and Destiny Nicole; brother Joseph Alan; and grandparents Mary and Paul Barrett.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Rich Holbrook, of Church of the Open Door, officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made c/o Mary Barrett, 2203 Old Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157, to help defray funeral costs.

Herman R. Miller, 94, of Middleburg

Herman R. Miller, 94, of Middleburg, formerly of Taneytown, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Brookfield Manor Resident Care Facility.

Born Oct. 17, 1909, in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Blanche Pittinger Miller. He was the husband of Thelma F. Miller.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired as a carpenter.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sister Evelyn Racks of Thurmont; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Meadow Branch cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Strait officiating.

There will be no public visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Edith M. Patterson, 73, of Reisterstown

Edith M. Patterson, 73, of Reisterstown, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at her residence.

She was born May 7, 1930, in Dickson City, Pa. She was the wife of William M. Patterson.

She had been a housewife.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons William M. Patterson II of Baltimore and Robert G. Patterson of Hanover, Pa.; daughter Kimberly A. Patterson of Reisterstown; sister and brother-in-law Mirian A. and Tom Miller of Pasadena; and grandchildren Bobby G. Jr. and Michael V. Patterson, both of Hanover, Pa.

She was predeceased by brothers John C., Frank and Harold Taylor; and sister Helen Housen.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, with Deacon James Ryan officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Joan E. Schmid, 85, of Sparks

Joan E. Schmid, 85, of Sparks, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson.

Born Jan. 18, 1918, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Russell F. and Estalla M. Williams. She was the wife of the late Charles D. Schmid.

She had been a manager with the Humane Society of Baltimore County, working there for 35 years.

Surviving are daughters Gail Dijulio of Pikesville, Dolores Astroth and Jane V. Schmid, both of Sparks, Vicki Lynn Hanle of Finksburg and Patti Cockey of London, England; grandchildren Frank, Tony, Lisa and Julie; and great-grandchildren Michael and Alex. A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown. Interment will be in Druid Ridge cemetery, Pikesville.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Harry W. Staley, 61, of Taneytown

Harry Wolford Staley, 61, of Taneytown, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster,

Born June 30, 1942, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Wolford M. Staley and Margaret K. Preston Staley of Hagerstown. He was the husband of Jo Paulette Butts Staley, his wife of 38 years.

He was a 1960 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a 1966 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a bachelor's degree in forest management.

He was a forestry consultant and had been a licensed professional forester in Maryland for 37 years and in West Virginia for three years. He also practiced forestry in Pennsylvania and Virginia.

He was the owner of Forestry Concepts and Staley's Christmas Trees, both of Taneytown. He was a former co-owner of E & E Trees of Mount Airy.

He had attended Grace United Methodist Church (formerly Grace United Brethren Church) in Hagerstown. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters and was recognized for Outstanding Service to Forestry by the Allegheny Chapter in 1991. He was also a member of Maryland Forest Associates, the National Christmas Tree Association, the Maryland Farm Bureau, and he served on the Carroll County Foresters Board and the board of the Farm Museum.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Sandy Black Staley of Biglerville, Pa.; sister Thelma Jean Stockslager of Hagerstown; brothers William, David, Stephen and Robert Staley, all of Hagerstown, and John Staley of Warfordsburg, Pa.; grandsons Ryan and Jarred Staley of Biglerville, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by daughter Kara Leigh Staley, who died in 1997.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.

Lawrence E. 'Ellie' Emge Sr., 81, of Baynesville

Lawrence Elridge "Ellie" Emge Sr., 81, of Baynesville, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003.

Born Dec. 8, 1921, he was the husband of Phyllis Monath Emge.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Jeanne Emge; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law Jeanne and Ernest Adelung, Diana and Stephen West and Kelly and Gregory Davis; great-grandchildren DJ, Robert, Daniel, Angelina, Bradley, Nicholas, Solomon, Nathan and Hannah; brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Blanche Emge; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by son Lawrence Emge Jr.; and siblings James, John, Ike and Albert "Bull" Emge, Mary Traband, Kate Gross and Nora Breidenstein.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 8521 Loch Raven Blvd., Towson. Interment will be in Rest Haven cemetery, Hanover, Pa.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Marion L. Fair, 90, of Reisterstown

Marion L. Fair, 90, of Reisterstown, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Futurecare Cherrywood in Reisterstown.

Born Oct. 25, 1913, in Finksburg, he was the son of the late Oliver R. and Anna Fair. He was the husband of the late Millie S. Fair.

He had been a tire mechanic at Shipley Transfer for 20 years.

He had been a life member of Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company, Ionic Lodge 145 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, Boumi Temple, Western Maryland Shriner Club and Mount Gilead United Methodist Church.

Surviving are brother Elmer Fair of Hampstead; and nephew Melvin Fair of Reisterstown.

He was predeceased by sisters Carrie Abbott and Myrle Drechsler; and brothers Charles, Clarence, George, John and Oliver Fair.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, with the Rev. Diane Summerhill officiating. Interment will be private.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Gilead United Methodist Church at a later date.

John U. Smith Jr., 92, of Reisterstown

John Upshur Smith Jr., 92, of Reisterstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at his residence.

Born March 19, 1911, in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late John U. Sr. and Sallie M. Smith. He was the husband of Elsie H. Smith.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from Aug. 18, 1942, to Nov. 10, 1945. He received the American Theatre Campaign Medal, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Campaign and Service Medal.

He had been an electric foreman for Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. from 1947 to 1976.

He had been a member of the Ionic Lodge 145 AF&AM, Tall Cedars, Scottish Rite 33 Degree, Carroll Scottish Rite Club, Boumi Shrine and Reisterstown United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Francine J. Brown of Silver Spring, Nev.; son Charles W. Smith Sr. of Upperco; stepdaughters E. Patricia Blauvelt of Westminster, Shirley A. Patterson of Finksburg and Susan M. Stierhoff of Owings Mills; stepson Charles A. Wilson of Palo Alto, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, with the Rev. Dick Harden, of Reisterstown United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ionic Lodge Memorial Fund, 85 Main St., Reisterstown, MD 21136.
