Earl H. Howard, 78, of New Windsor

Earl H. Howard, 78, of New Windsor, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Carroll Hospital Center, after an extended illness.

Born March 13, 1925, in Rockville, he was the son of the late Clarence Howard and Virgie Ricketts. He was the husband of Geneva Howard, his wife of 56 years.

He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.

He retired from Potomac Electric Power Co. after 40 years of service and later drove a school bus for Carroll County.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Earl H. Howard Jr. of Frederick; and daughter Sharon Lynn Nelligan of New Windsor; sister Mildred Collins of Hagerstown; grandchildren Lori Sue Castillo, Kara Lynn Howard, Jami Rae Howard, Jena Griffin of Frederick, and Rachel Erin Nelligan and Austin Howard Nelligan of New Windsor; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157.

James R. Huebschman, 75, of Owings Mills

James Richard Huebschman, 75, of Owings Mills, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at the Stella Maris Hospice from natural causes.

Born May 16, 1928, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George and Mary Hughes Huebschman.

He was a retired salesman. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

Surviving are sons Robert, Timothy, Richard, Michael and David Huebschman; daughters Mary Ann Huebschman, JoAnn Monroe and Janet Meyers; brother Richard Huebschman; sisters Katherine Bezold and Lillian West; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery, Owings Mills, with military honors.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ethel E. Martin, 88, of Hampstead

Ethel Elizabeth Martin, 88, of Hampstead, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at her home.

Born Feb. 24, 1915, in Sydersburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Della Brilhart Yingling. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Edward Martin.

She was a housewife and a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manchester.

Surviving are children Howard Eddie Martin of Hampstead, Barbara L. Rosenzweig of East Berlin, Pa., Patsy Steinhauer of York, Pa., Robert W. Martin of Hampstead and Larry E. Martin of New Freedom, Pa.; sisters Garnet Kinney of Hanover, Pa., and Ruth Messinger of York, Pa; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with her pastors, the Revs. Matthew and Norma Schenning, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Ann L. Murk, 60, of Woodbine

Ann Leeper Murk, 60, of Woodbine, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at her home.

Born Aug. 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Cleora Henderson Thomas and stepdaughter of the late Robert Thomas. She was the wife of James P. Murk of Woodbine.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are half-brother James Thomas of Glen Burnie; half-sister Frances Tumblin of Eldersburg; niece Michelle; and nephew David.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, with the Rev. O.F. "Bud" Kibbe officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1840 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093.

Madelyn E. 'Matts' Yox, 67, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Madelyn E. "Matts" Yox, 67, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003.

Born Jan. 7, 1936, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Tokarz Hiller. She was the wife of Michael Joseph "Joe" Yox of Sierra Vista, Ariz., her husband of 48 years.

She was a 1954 graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore. She briefly worked for Equitable Trust Bank in Randallstown and Owings Mills, rising to the position of assistant branch manager. She worked for Avon Products for almost 30 years and served as a Maryland district manager in Baltimore and Montgomery counties for 22 years. For 12 of those years, she was in the Avon Circle of Excellence and was among the top 10 percent in sales nationally. Her success allowed her to travel to France, Germany, Spain, Hawaii, Mexico and Hong Kong. Upon retiring to Arizona in 1996, she joined the Rickety Rockettes, a troop of ambassadors for the city of Sierra Vista.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son and daughter-in-law Michael J. Jr. and Judy Yox of Huntingtown; daughters and son-in-law Susan Dalton of Russellville, Ariz., and Debra and Ron Scott of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; grandchildren Sara Dalton of Nashville, Tenn., Justin Dalton of Russellville, Ariz., Christopher and Sandy Scott of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Jennifer and Kaitlin Yox of Huntingtown; mother-in-law Eleanor Yox of Sykesville; brothers-in-law John Yox and wife Mary Ellen of Mattoon, Ill., and Henry Yox and wife Kathy of Finksburg; sister-in-law Mary Yox of Sykesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and friends Mary Lou and Bill Bess of Sierra Vista, Ariz.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church, 9700 Liberty Road, Randallstown, with the Rev. McGovern officiating. Interment will be in Mother Theresa Columbarium of the All Saints and All Souls cemetery, Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Loring Byers Funeral Home, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, 1425 Yaqui St., Sierra Vista, AZ 85650; or to one's local American Cancer Society's Patient Assistance Center.

Ruth N. Baumgardner, 90, of Taneytown

Ruth Naomi Baumgardner, 90, of Taneytown, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.

Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Cando, N.D., she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Mary Eliza Forney LeGore. She was the wife of Edwin Noah Baumgardner, who died in 1975.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Taneytown and the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are daughter Joan Delores Baumgardner Stonesifer of Union Bridge; and son Ronald Noah Baumgardner of Ranson, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brother Nevin Walter LeGore.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Nicholas Brie officiating, assisted by Deacon Charles Barnhart Jr. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Taneytown.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Eddie R. Briles, 59, formerly of Randallstown

Eddie R. Briles, 59, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of Randallstown, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Sinai Hospital from a heart condition.

Born May 13, 1944, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Mildred L. Briles.

He enjoyed living in Florida, caring for his flowers and traveling on his Harley.

Surviving are longtime friend and companion Dory Portuano; sisters and brother-in-law Linda and George Renfro, Judy Loomis and Deborah Briles-Reeder; nephews David R. Newton, Robert J. Newton and wife Melissa M. Newton, and Clint Renfro and wife Erin Renfro; nieces Becky Loomis, Chrissy The' and husband Geoffrey The', Mandy Loomis, and Ronda Nichols and husband Dr. Robert Nichols; and great nieces; one great nephew; one uncle; aunts; cousins; and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Loring Byers Funeral Directors, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown.

Mildred S. Davis, 107, formerly of Linthicum Heights

Mildred Scheel Davis, 107, formerly of Linthicum Heights, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Wilson Healthcare Center in Gaithersburg.

Born Sept. 1, 1896, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William Howard Scheel and Susie Reinig Scheel. She was the wife of Thomas S. Davis, who died in 1986.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Gordon L. and Jean B. Davis of Taneytown; brother Orville H. Scheel of Sun City, Fla.; grandson Kenneth L. Davis of Taneytown; and three great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held. Private inurnment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilson Healthcare Center, 301 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20879.

Arrangements are by Skiles Funeral Home, Taneytown.

Stacey M. Elliott, 31, of Gaithersburg

Stacey Marie Elliott, 31, of Gaithersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at her sister's home in Reisterstown.

Born April 21, 1972, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Mary A. Parks of Pikesville and the late John B. Parks Sr. She was the wife of James R. Elliott of Gaithersburg.

She was a 1990 graduate of Pikesville High School and a 1994 graduate of Frostburg State University.

She was a juvenile counselor for the Department of Juvenile Justice, Maryland.

Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are brothers John Parks Jr. of Middletown, Del., and Peter Parks of Owings Mills; sister Karen Strawderman of Reisterstown; mother-in-law Linda Elliott; father-in-law Roy Elliott; grandmother Marcella Januska of Connecticut; sisters-in-law Linda Parks of Middletown, Del., and Lisa Parks of Owings Mills; brother-in-law Dennis Strawderman Sr. of Reisterstown; sister-in-law Stephanie Wilson; nephews and godsons Tyler Strawderman and Casey Parks; and nephews Dennis, Blake, Johnny, Tommy, Elliott, Christopher and Jake.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Pikesville, with the Rev. E. Joseph Cote of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be private.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

George C. Feit Jr., 44, of Baltimore

George C. Feit Jr., 44, of Baltimore, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at his home.

Born April 7, 1959, he was the son of George E. Feit Sr. and Shirley J. Pickett. He was the stepson of Richard B. Pickett of Sykesville.

He had been a quadriplegic for the past 27 years.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, father and stepfather, are sister Sue Ann Yoquinto of Pennsylvania; and brother David A. Feit of Baltimore.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bruzdzinski Funeral Home, 1407 Old Eastern Ave., Essex, with the Rev. Roland "Bud" Brown officiating. Interment will be in Holly Hills cemetery, 1021 Bird River Road, Baltimore.

Charlotte A. German, 53, of Reisterstown

Charlotte Ann German, 53, of Reisterstown, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care, Towson.

Born April 12, 1950, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Lena Morgan. She was the wife of Nelson R. German.

She had been a teacher at Sacred Heart School in Glyndon.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons Robert N. and Thomas A. German, both of Cockeysville; and brother George R. Morgan of White Hall.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon, with Monsignor Lloyd E. Aiken officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus cemetery, Dundalk.

Helen R. Haddaway, 103, of Eldersburg

Helen Rond Haddaway, 103, of Eldersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the home of her great-granddaughter.

Born June 13, 1900, in Bozman, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Addie C. Keithley McQuay. Twice married , she was the wife of the late George W. Rond Sr. and Mitchell Haddaway.

She worked during World War II as a metallurgist at the Coppers Co. in Baltimore. After the war, she was transferred to the Social Security Administration, where she worked until her retirement in 1970.

Surviving are daughter Frances W. Ironmonger of Eldersburg; son George W. Rond Jr. of Pasadena; brother J. Milton McQuay of Baltimore; sister Miriam Tyler of Easton; grandchildren Marilyn Arndt, Barbara Weinkam, Warren Ironmonger Jr., Melanie Singleton and David Rond; great-granddaughter and caregiver Dawn Merrill of Eldersburg; great-grandchildren Brian and Jason Arndt, Ann Dennis, Jennifer Ironmonger, Warren Ironmonger III, Lucas Ironmonger and Bradley Ironmonger; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brother J. Leroy McQuay; sisters Ruth Bridgess and Eunice Mueller; and great-granddaughter Kimberly Weinkam.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. Arthur Monroe officiating. Interment will be in Loudon Park cemetery.
