Zachary W. Pendergraph, infant, of Annapolis

Zachary William Pendergraph, infant, of Annapolis, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

Born June 22, 2003, he was the son of John and Deborah L. Meadowcroft Pendergraph of Annapolis.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are brother Conner Pendergraph; and grandparents Mary Meadowcroft of Manchester, and John E. and Frances V. Pendergraph of Annapolis.

He was predeceased by grandfather Peter Meadowcroft.

A graveside service will be held at noon today at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2800 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg.

Arrangements are by Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

Alfred C. Beranger, 74, of Finksburg

Alfred C. Beranger, 74, of Finksburg, formerly of Owings Mills, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, from natural causes.

Born June 8, 1929, in Marriottsville, he was the son of the late Alfred and Thelma Travers Beranger.

He had worked at the Morningside Apartments for many years.

Surviving are nephews and nieces.

A private funeral service and interment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.

Mary B. Grimes, 73, formerly of Westminster

Mary B. Peggy Grimes, 73, formerly of Westminster, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia.

Born May 13, 1930, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert Basel and Mary Phelan Basel. She was the wife of George J. Grimes Sr., who died in 1994.

She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in his painting business, George Grimes & Sons.

She was active in community organizations, including Mothers' WATCH.

Surviving are sons George J. Grimes Jr. of Rockville, Paul E. Grimes of Columbia, William D. Grimes of Annapolis and Kevin P. Grimes of Gambrills; daughters M. Jeannette Smith of White Plains, Joan D. Grimes, Kathryn D. Tennant and Kathleen S. Grimes, all of Annapolis, Nancy J. Offidani of Havre de Grace, Angela A. McNelia of Harrington, Del., Loretta A. Arscott of Westminster and Tricia A. Willis of Bowie; brothers Bernard Basel of Baltimore and Dennis Basel of Orlando, Fla.; sister Patricia Clumsky of Baltimore; 29 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown. Interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Taneytown.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, where a Christian wake service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Maryland Chapter, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.

Thomas E. Hall, 85, formerly of Westminster

Thomas Edwin Hall, 85, of Randallstown, formerly of Westminster, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at the Chapel Hill Nursing Center in Randallstown.

Born Jan. 4, 1918, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Virginia Griffith Hall. He was the husband of the late Geneva Lorraine Hall.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Westminster VFW Molleville Farm Post 467.

He was the last of his immediate family.

Surviving are three nieces and two nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings William B. and W. Griffith Hall and by Elizabeth Ing.

A graveside service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery, Owings Mills, with the Rev. Seminarian Kris L. Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mary L. 'Maryse' May, 80, formerly of Westminster

Mary L. "Maryse" May, 80, formerly of Westminster, died Friday morning, Nov. 28, 2003, at her son's home in Timonium.

Born Dec. 3, 1922, in Nancy, France, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and Mary Therese Herrgott Plane. She was the wife of David H. May, her husband of more than 55 years, who died in 2002.

Surviving are son Benjamin D. May of Timonium; daughters Mary L. Sowerwine of Fruitland Park, Ill., and Patricia J. Gordon of Dupont, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

A private funeral service and interment was held Monday at St. Benjamin's (Kriders) Lutheran Church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

Antonia Randle, 86, of Sykesville

Antonia Randle, 86, of Sykesville, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born Sept. 15, 1917, in McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Telka Hacakyra Bartoch. She was the wife of Charles A. Randle Jr., who died in 1998.

She had been employed as an assistant registrar of births in Baltimore and had retired from the MVA in 1979. She was a member of AARP, South Carroll Senior Citizens Association, the Seniors Club at St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Thursday afternoon lunch bunch.

She enjoyed traveling, dining out and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Charles A. and Betsy Randle of Libertytown; grandchildren Kimberly Randle Smith and husband Brian of New Windsor, Antonia Randle of Augusta, Ga., Denise Rheubottom and husband Thomas of Westminster, Beth Randle Masser and husband Clint of Frederick and Charles "Chad" Edward Randle and wife Christine of Philadelphia, Pa.; and great-grandchildren Mellody and Aleah Smith, Zion Rheubottom and Layne and Kirstin Masser; and lifelong friend Mildred Seth.

She was predeceased by son David Randle; and brothers Paul and Frank Bartoch.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. Pat Tonry officiating. Interment will be private.

Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary L. Schmidt, 59, of Mount Airy

Mary L. Schmidt, 59, of Mount Airy, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born May 5, 1944, in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late James and Frances Evans Esworthy. She was the wife of Alfred M. Schmidt, her husband of 28 years.

She was a seamstress and worked at the Mount Airy Shirt Factory and the West Knit in Westminster. She had also worked for Ames and Pizza Hut in Mount Airy.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 191 in Mount Airy, where she was a past president, past Western Maryland District president and past Department of Maryland president. She also served as a counselor for Girls State for three years.

She enjoyed making crafts, sewing and spending time with her dogs.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are siblings Lee Esworthy and wife Linda of Westminster, Margaret McCarthy and husband Thomas of Boring, George Esworthy and wife Charlotte of Westminster, James Esworthy Jr. and wife Debra of Cockeysville and Brenda Hale and husband David of Reisterstown; nine nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Rosalie Robbins of Blairsville, Ga.; brother-in-law Roland Schmidt and wife Patricia of Mount Airy; and godson David James Hale.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, with the Rev. Franklin Bishop officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Mount Airy.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 191 will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Children and Youth Programs, 1589 Sulphur Spring Road, Suite 105, Baltimore, MD 21227.

Raymond W. 'Pappy' Shelton Sr., 88, of Taneytown

Raymond W. "Pappy" Shelton Sr., 88, of Taneytown, died Friday morning, Nov. 28, 2003, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Nov. 7, 1915, in Emmittsburg, he was the son of the late James W. and Martha E. McKinley Shelton. He was the husband of the late Christine E. Curtz Shelton, his wife of 38 years.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. During World War II, he was stationed on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.

He was a member of the VFW in Harney.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Raymond Jr. and Vickie Shelton; and son Ronald J. Shelton, all of Taneytown; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Rick Holbrook, of the Church of the Open Door, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery, Owings Mills.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with financial obligations and final expenses.

C. Edward Feete, 89, of Catonsville

C. Edward Feete, 89, of Catonsville, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at his residence from natural causes.

Born Jan. 1, 1914, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late James Marshall and Edna Miller Feete. He was the husband of Virginia Phillips Feete, who died in January 2002.

He was the retired president of Warfield-Rohr Casket Co., a family-owned and operated funeral supply firm.

He was a member of the Hamilton Kiwanis Club, which later was the Northeast Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Pyramid Magic Club and served on the board of directors for the School of Chimes.

He enjoyed attending Colts football games when they played in Baltimore. He supported and sponsored many local organizations.

Surviving are daughter Dana L. Fisher and son Edward D. Feete, both of Baltimore; grandsons Stephen and Craig Fisher; and brother Marshall Feete.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Charlestown, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, with the Rev. Gary Hajek officiating. Burial will be in Druid Ridge cemetery, Pikesville.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.

Mary K. Russell, 76, of Baltimore

Mary K. Russell, 76, of Baltimore, died Friday evening, Dec. 5, 2003, at Ruxton Health & Rehabilitation Center in Pikesville.

Born June 14, 1927, in Limestone, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Gus B. and Helen (Chain) Hylton. Twice married , she was the wife of the late Fred Yelton, and William Wallace Russell.

She was a retail jewelry clerk for the Crown Monumental 5 & 10 store in Woodmore shopping center, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Louisville Bible Church, where she enjoyed playing the organ and singing.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Freddie E. and Susan Yelton of Baltimore; daughter Patricia C. Mumford of Baltimore; step-sons Edward Russell of Baltimore and Wallace Russell of Union Bridge; brothers Alvin Hylton of Owings Mills, Sanford Hylton of North Carolina; sister Wanda Mauk of Tennessee; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by son Billy Joe Yelton in 1995; and nine siblings.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at Louisville Bible Church, Bollinger Mill Road, Gamber, with her pastor, the Rev. Thomas L. Plunkert Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

Contributions may be made to the family to assist with financial obligations, and final expenses.
