Patricia Ruth Sebera (nee Juergens) wife, mother and Registered Nurse, died peacefully on September 5, 2000. She was 72 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Iva Rose Culbert, and the late Edwin Columbus Juergens, of Chicago. She grew up in Chicago, graduating from Foreman High School in 1946, and the Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
After marriage to Donald Keith Sebera in 1950, she chose to both raise a family and continue her nursing career. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse for 48 years, working in a variety of settings and specializing in Geriatric Care. She lived in Middletown Connecticut; Cooperstown, New York; Ottawa, Canada; and Bridgeton, New Jersey.
Mrs. Sebera enjoyed dancing, sitting in gardens, as well as collecting art and antiques. She was an avid reader. She loved to travel and explore, and was especially fond of the Thames River in London, portrayed frequently by her favorite artist James McNeill Whistler. She said that in another life she was a sailor. Mrs. Sebera was known for her wit, wisdom, fortitude of convictions, and sense of fun. She has been an ardent member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church for 60 years. Mrs. Sebera has traveled on to join her parents and brother the late Theodore Columbus Juergens.
Her sister, Mary Irene Bean lives in Chicago, IL. She is survived by Donald Sebera; her children: Robert, Mary, Laura, and Diana Sebera. Six grandchildren: Stephen, Anna, Matthew, Isabel, Phillip and Brendon. We wish her bon voyage, and will miss her dearly.
There will be funeral Service at Fellows, Helfenenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Chestertown, MD on Thursday September 7, 2000 at 7:30 P.M. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 until 7:30 on Thursday. There will be an open burial at Graceland cemetery

William Rulie Boyles, Sr. of Centreville, MD died on Monday, September 4, 2000 at his home. He was 80.
Born in Starr, MD on March 21, 1920, he was the son of the late Rulie P. and Julia Schuyler Boyles. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class and was discharged on December 4, 1945. Following his release from active duty he worked as a carpenter for Henry Lewis in Owings Mills and retired in 1985.
He loved woodworking and gardening. He was a life member of the VFW, Post #652, Millington, MD and a member of the American Legion, Jeff Davis Post #18 in Centreville, MD.
Mr. Boyles is survived by his wife, Pauline E. Clough Boyles whom he married
on January 29, 1947; three sons, William R. Boyles, Jr. of Bridgeville, De., Robert A. Boyles, Sr. of Queen Anne, MD and Richard A. Boyles of Ridgely, MD; three daughters, Virginia Kendall of Chestertown, MD, Jeanne Boyles-Fisher of Stevensville, MD and Barbara D. Archer-Shee of Easton, MD; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Ruth V. Jones and Marguerite Sparks McClyment.

Celia Russell “Bobbie” Hicks of Stevensville died on Monday, September 4, 2000 at her home. She was 56. Born January 29, 1944 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of George Robert Grantham of Brandon, Fl and the late Evelyn Bridges Gramtham. She attend Anacostia High School in Washington, DC and later moved to the Eastern Shore where she married
Howard W. Hicks, Jr. in August 10, 1984. She worked as a bartender at the Elks Lodge and the American Legion, both in Stevensville and the VFW Post #7464 in Grasonville, MD. In addition to her father and husband, Mrs. Hicks is survived by three daughters, Brenda L. Robbins of Ohio, Victoria Parker of Stevensville and Kim Wingo of Poolsville, MD; two sons, Andrew Dillard of Grasonville and Robert Dillard, US Navy; three sisters, Alice Shollenberger of Gainesville, MD, Grace R. Store of Falls Church, VA and Lisa Ann Trail of Brandon, FL; and 22 grandchildren. Services will be private.

Henry Walter Hoch of Easton died on Sunday, September 3, 2000 at the Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 80.
Born in Baltimore on September 10, 1919, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Bertha Hart Hoch. He served in the U. S. Army as an automotive mechanic from May 1941 to October 1945. In 1946, he married
the former Lillian S. Fialkowski and they made their home in Baltimore where he worked as a mold maker for Swindell Brothers Glass Co., later known as Carr Lowery Glass Co. He later moved to Pasadena then Glen Burnie before retiring in 1978. In 1987, he moved to Easton.
Mr. Hoch was a former member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Pasadena where he was also a member of the Men's Club. He also attended Christ Church, Easton. He was also a member of the E.E. Streets Memorial Post #5118, V.F.W.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Rottman and her husband, Don, of Grasonville, and Gloria J. Douma and her husband, Richard, of Arnold; five grandchildren, Donald Rottman, Robert Rottman, Amy Rottman, Jennifer Rottman, and Christine Douma; a great-granddaughter, Victoria Rottman; and two future grandsons through marriage, Dennis Raab and Robert Noll. A sister, Bertha Mae Brophy, is deceased.
Funeral services will be held at the Christ Church, Easton on Thursday, September 7, 2000 at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton on Wednesday from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery, Beulah.

Carlton Veasel of Stevensville, MD died Sept. 1, 2000 at Corsica Hills Nursing Home in Queen Anne’s County. He was 72.
Born June 26, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late George Z. Veasel and Mary Lillian Veasel. He moved from Landsdowne, MD. where he was a disherwasher for Hutzler’s Department Store to Stevensville, MD in 1990 to live with his brother and sister in-law.
Mr. Veasel enjoyed arts and crafts at the Adult Day Care in Stevensville, MD. He especially loved his coloring books.
Mr. Veasel is survived by a sister: Lillian V. Ventura of Belair, MD. , a sister in-law: LaVerne Veasel of Stevensville, MD and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers: Harold Veasel, Clarence O. Veasel and George Veasel and one sister Margaret L. Veasel.
Friends and family are invited to gather Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000 from 3 – 5pm and 7 – 9pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept, 6, 2000, 11am at the Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Loudon Park cemetery

William Eldridge Chambers of Centreville died at home November 29, 2000. He was 79.
Born July 12, 1921 in Chestertown, MD, he was the son of the late Owen Oscar and Mary Janet Whitely Chambers. He attended Church Hill High School and in 1939 he joined the U.S. Army where he served in the Invasion of Normandy and served in the entire European Theatre of Operations. During that time he was wounded four times and received the Bronze Star, Five Campaign ribbons, Purple Heart, Normandy Metal, and the Tear Drop citation. He received his discharge from Ft. Meade, MD on July 30, 1945.
In June 1946 he married
the former Orme Virginia Holden of Grasonville. Mrs. Chambers died October 24, 1997. For the majority of his life he had worked as a self-employed truck driver, working for E.S. Valliant, Agrico, and Williams Chemical. Following his retirement he then drove for the Dept. of Aging for seven years. He is a life member of the V.F.W. #7464, Grasonville; the American Legion Jeff Davis Post #18, Centreville and the Bay Country Moose of Queenstown.
He is survived by a sister, Betty Lou Rosengren of Willow Grove, DE and a very special friend John H. Stone, Jr. of Willow Grove, DE. Funeral services will be held 2PM on Sunday December 3, 2000 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday evening, December 2, 2000 from 6PM to 8PM. Burial will be at Chesterfield cemetery, Centreville, MD.

Samuel Charles Dudley formally of Church Hill, MD, died at his home in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 29, 2000, after a relatively short illness. He was 85 years old.
Born February 6, 1915, Mr. Dudley, whom some knew as Sam and others as Charles, was the eldest son of Dr. Norman Spear Dudley and Clara Elizabeth Walls Dudley of Church Hill, MD. He graduated fro Church Hill High School in 1932 and from Washington College in 1936, having received awards for the highest average in his class for three of his four years there. He subsequently earned degrees in chemical Engineering and in Law from John Hopkins and George Washington Universities, respectively.
He was employed by the Joseph E. Seagram and Sons Company until his retirement in 1980. At that time he served as Director of Research for the company though, like many successful businessman, he held various positions within the corporation at different times in his forty-year career. He and his family lived in Indian, Maryland, Connecticut, and Illinois before returning to Louisville for the third time in 1971.
He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Dudley Hoffa of State College, PA and Marian Dudley Friske of Virginia Beach, VA; and by three grandchildren, Parker, Clayton and Elizabeth. He is also survived by two brothers, Philip of Assaria, Kansas, and Norman of Valrico, Florida.
Funeral Services for Mr. Dudley and for his wife, Gladys Rebecca will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday December 8, 2000 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and cemetery
in Chestertown, MD. She preceded him in death by a mere eight days after 60 years of marriage. She was a native and also a graduate of Washington College.

Rita Ellen Dorrell of Easton, MD. died November 28, 2000 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 52.
Born on March 21, 1948 in Candem, N.J. she was the daughter of the late Lewis Garrison and Audrey Ann Cohen . Raised on Kent Island she attended Stevensville High School in Stevensville, MD. She married
Joseph C. Dorrell of Centreville, MD on September 1, 1963.
Mrs. Dorrell was a homemaker as they resided in Queen Anne’s County, St. Mary’s County, Arkansas, and Talbot County. She was a member of Bay Country Chapter # 1696 Women of the Moose in Queenstown, MD. and a member of the Church of God.
She is survived by her husband Joseph C. Dorrell of Easton, MD. one son Joseph C. Dorrell, Jr. of Mansfield, AR. Two daughters Audrey Ann Miller of Chekek, WI and Laura Mae King of Linkwood, MD. a stepdaughter Tina Renee Jacobs of Locust Bayou, AR. A stepson James Brent Dorrell of Bearden, AR a Sister Mary Ann Allen of Wye Mills, MD. Two brothers Roy Garrison of Las Vegas, NV and William Garrison of Weatherford, OK. And (10) ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11am on Thursday November 30, 2000 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. Where family and friends may call one hour before from 10am to 11am. Interment will be in Chesterfield cemetery
in Centreville, MD.

Jane Shannahan Offutt, of Easton, died at her family home near Easton on Monday, November 27, 2000. She was 85.
Born in Easton, October 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Kate Elliott Shannahan. After attending Talbot County public schools, she graduated from The Kirk School in Philadelphia in 1932. She was an artist who loved to paint and this lead her to attend the Maryland Institute of Art from which she graduated in 1937. In the summer of 1940, she married
Howard B. Hill. He was lost in the invasion of Normandy during World War 11. In October of 1949, she married
Harry A. Offutt, a management consultant who later became a golf professional. He died in February of 1989.
A lifelong resident of Talbot County, she was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Easton, and the National Audubon Society. She was a former member of the Academy Art Museum in Easton and an honorary member of the Talbot Country Club and the Greenhill Yacht and Country Club. She was an ardent birdwatcher and a supporter of the Talbot County Humane Society. Her passions were her love of people, animals, gardening and painting. She welcomed people with open arms and never saw an animal or bird that she didn't love. She once tamed a squirrel that would take a nut from her hand and many of her four-footed friends found her. The two cats that lived with her showed up on her doorstep.
Mrs. Offutt is survived by a son, Thomas E. Hill and his wife, Catherine, of Easton; a sister, May S. Cecil of Easton; two grandchildren, Bradley V. Hill of Easton and Jennifer K. Hill of Owings Mills, MD and one great-grandchild, Grace Catherine Hill. A brother, William E. Shannahan, died in 1966.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday evening, November 30th, from 7 - 9 P.M. at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. Any other services will be private.
