Doris E. Kelly, 77, of Westminster

Doris Evelyn Kelly, 77, of Westminster, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at her home.

Born Aug. 3, 1926, in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Horace and Ersie Hensley Belcher. She was the wife of the late Ray Antoine Kelly.

She was formerly employed with the Montgomery Ward store. She enjoyed doing cross-stitch and crochet and was a member of the Westminster Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are daughters Doris Anna Kelly of Westminster, Cynthia Lynn Kelly of Havre de Grace and Patricia Eileen Kelly of Aberdeen; son Donald Ray Kelly of Westminster; sisters Helen Holden and Jeannette Fuller, both of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughter Susan Joyce Kelly.

A funeral service will be held at noon today at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with Bishop Danny Fread officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home.

Shirley J. Vesper, 69, of Dundalk

Shirley J. Vesper, 69, of Dundalk, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Thomas R. Harding, 93, of Taneytown

Thomas Roland Harding, 93, of Taneytown, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Feb. 11, 1911, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Francis Asbury Harding and Ada Scherwing Harding. He was the husband of Elsie Ferne Kimmitt Harding, who died in June 1991.

He was retired as vice president of sales for the Serta Manufacturing Co. in Landover.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ferne H. and Thomas L. Childs of Great Falls, Va.; granddaughters and spouses Julia and John Isaacson of Hummelstown, Pa., and Susanne and Andrew Priftis of Ashburn, Va.; and great-grandchildren Samuel T. and Henry H. Isaacson and Abbey C. and Haley C. Priftis.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Interment will be in Meadow Branch cemetery, Westminster.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA, 500 N. George St., Hanover, PA 17331.

Mary B. 'Pat' Jordan,80, of Finksburg

Mary B. "Pat" Jordan, 80, of Finksburg, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 3, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born April 1, 1924, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Hucht and Veronica Scharnagl Hucht. She was the wife of Lee G. Jordan, her husband of 54 years.

She was a 1942 graduate of Seton High School.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Central Maryland Alzheimer's Association. She enjoyed bowling.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn P. and Cynthia Jordan of Finzel; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur "Reds" Hucht and Wanda Hucht of Baltimore; grandsons Jerry and Brenden Staub, both of Finzel; and nieces and nephews.

A brother, Theodore Hucht; and sisters Ruth Gessner and Bertha Endres predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with the Rev. Leo Patalinghug as celebrant. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Patricia A. Muir, 72, of Manchester

Patricia A. Muir, 72, of Manchester, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 3, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Aug. 21, 1931, she lived in central Maryland for most of her life. She attended the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Ellicott City and Deerfield Senior Daycare Center in Westminster. She enjoyed flea markets, yard sales and Christian music.

Surviving are her caregivers for more than 20 years, Edward and Kathleen Crouse of Manchester; foster sister Stella Kline of Delaware; and foster brother William Muir of Frederick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Allen Skiles officiating. Interment will be private.

There will be no public visitation.

Gerhard Grassinger, 54, of Sykesville

Gerhard Grassinger, 54, of Sykesville, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at his home.

Born Jan. 30, 1950, in Germany, he was the son of the late Wilhelm and Rose Marie Drexler Grassinger.

He was retired from Springfield Hospital Center where he had worked for 25 years. He was an avid tennis player and instructor.

Surviving are brothers Helmut, Werner and Siegfred Grassinger, all of Germany.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. Stanley Janiates officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert H. Kittleman, of West Friendship

Robert H. Kittleman, of West Friendship, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.

He was the husband of Trent M. Kittleman.

Surviving are children Laura Kittleman Yeatts, Cody Kittleman, Allan Kittleman, Samantha Mitchell and Heather Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; and brother Tom Kittleman.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Glenelg High School, 14025 Burntwood Road, Glenelg.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Witzke Funeral Home Inc., 5555 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia.

Carrie A. Master, 41, of Eldersburg

Carrie Ann Master, 41, of Eldersburg, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Gilchrist Hospice, Towson.

Born Jan. 8, 1953, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Elizabeth C. Gabriel and the late Robert Gabriel. She was the wife of Sam Master of Eldersburg.

She had worked for the past nine years as a laboratory technician for the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and flower gardening.

Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband, are sons Bryan Thompson of Baltimore and Robert and Gregory Master, both of Eldersburg; brother Mark Gabriel of Alpharetta, Ga.; sister Roberta Gabriel of Washington, D.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Allan and Barbara "Bobi" Master of Baltimore; sisters in-law and brothers-in-law Lisa and Steven Frazer of Reisterstown and Wendy and Arnold Posner of Owings Mills; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Janet E. Persinger, 72, of Sykesville

Janet Eva Persinger, 72, of Sykesville, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Feb. 16, 1932, in Maryland, she was the wife of Ray H. Persinger, who died in 1979.

She had been a nurse's aide at Carroll County General Hospital.

Surviving are sons Ray H. Persinger Jr. of Baltimore and Gordon Persinger of Manchester; daughters Martha Mettille of Hagerstown and Julianna Casey of Elkridge; sisters Mary Hurd of Timonium, Joyce Bates and Christina Grimes, both of Westminster; and eight grandchildren.

She was predeceased by siblings Martha Hart and Donald Chenowith.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. Rollins Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.

Jesse L. Roberson, 74, of Union Bridge

Jesse Lay Roberson, 74, of Union Bridge, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore.

Born Nov. 30, 1929, in Cleveland, Ark., he was the son of the late William J. and Emma Clementine Scoggins Roberson. He was the husband of Dolores Mae Powell Roberson, his wife of 54 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He had worked as a fingerprint supervisor for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 36 years.

He was an active member of Frizzellburg Bible Church. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and listening to Gospel music.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Kevin L. Roberson of Union Bridge; daughter Sherrie L. Harrison of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandson Mark Harrison of Fredericksburg; granddaughters Laura Harrison of Fredericksburg, Victoria Roberson, Valerie Roberson and Keri Roberson, all of Union Bridge; brother Jerry Roberson of Cleveland, Ark.; sister Mary Evelyn Bradney of Prague, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

He was predeceased by sister Stincy Dee Scroggins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Frizzellburg Bible Church, 1905 Frizzellburg Road, Westminster, with Pastor Andrew Reisburg officiating, assisted by Pastor Dario DiBattista. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.

Helen N. Seaks, 93, of Manchester

Helen N. Seaks, 93, of Manchester, formerly of Greenmount, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at the Long View Nursing Home, Manchester.

Born Feb. 23, 1911, in Greenmount, she was the daughter of the late William and Lola Hahn Nagle. She was the wife of Howard Wesley Seaks, who died March 14, 1999.

She was a housewife. She was active with the Greenmount United Methodist Church, where she had served on numerous committees and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed knitting and sewing.

Surviving are daughters and son-in-law Ann and Ernie Rogers of Upperco and Betty Gill of Greenmount; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. Jerry Grace officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial donations may be made to Greenmount United Methodist Church, 2001 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, MD 21074.

Arthur D. Starner Jr., 84, of Westminster

Arthur Dayhoff Starner Jr., 84, of Westminster, died Monday morning, Sept. 13, 2004, at Lookabout Manor Assisted Living in Westminster.

Born Aug. 4, 1920, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Arthur D. Sr. and Bessie Mary Lawrence Starner. He was the husband of Virginia Naomi Starner, who died Nov. 20, 1988.

Before retiring, he worked at Congoleum Corp. in Finksburg for 40 years and was also a farmer. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church. His hobbies included working on Oliver tractors and tinkering with motors.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Linda L. and Walter Little of Westminster; son and daughter-in-law Robert L. and Diana Starner of Finksburg and son Arthur E. Starner of Westminster; grandchildren Annette, Barbara, Carol, Brian, Bobbi Jo, Earl, Dawn, Denise and David; and great-grandchildren Sarah, Abby, Paige, Paris, Ashley, Allison, Robby, Hailey, Ryan and Heather.

He was predeceased by sons Earl W. Starner and Arthur L. Lockard; and brothers Calvin and Richard L. Starner.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Bill Meushaw officiating. Interment will be in Krider's cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
