Vivian E. Lemmerhirt, 88, of Finksburg, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born Dec. 26, 1915, in Kane, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Nels John and Alvida Johanson Nelson. She was the wife of the late Melvin Lemmerhirt.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside, N.J. and the New Jersey Federation of Women's Clubs. She attended St. John's United Methodist Church in Hampstead.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Jacqueline Lemmerhirt of Framingham, Mass.; daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Douglas Piper of Finksburg; grandchildren and spouses John and Virginia Piper of Manchester, Susan and Timothy Snyder of Manchester, Douglas and Jennifer Piper of Sykesville, Elizabeth Piper of Finksburg and Ted Lemmerhirt and Melissa Lemmerhirt, both of Framingham; brothers John Nelson of Dixon, Ill., and Bruce Nelson of Ludington, Mich.; great-grandchildren Gunnar, Aidan, Behren, Gabrielle Snyder and Allison, Kathryn, Colin and Erin Piper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, 1205 N. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Kimberly Brown-Whale officiating. Interment will be private.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Presbyterian Church, Deer Path and Meeting House Lane, Mountainside, NJ 07092 or St. John's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 185, Hampstead, MD 21074.

Agnes S. Merkle, 92, formerly of Scotia, N.Y.

Agnes S. Merkle, 92, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Scotia, N.Y., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Westminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay, Virginia Beach.

Born Feb. 16, 1912, in Baltimore City, she was the daughter of the late Theodore E. and Elizabeth Jacob Koch. She was the wife of the late Oliver W. Snyder and the late Clifford C. Merkle.

She was an assistant manager at Union Trust Bank. She was a member of Bay Lake United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach.

Surviving are sons Charles W. Snyder of Clayton, N.C. and Edward W. Snyder of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; stepson Walter B. Merkle of Baltimore; brother Edward F. Koch of Lady Lake, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by son Allan W. Snyder; and sisters Margaret E. Gimbel and Anne F. Rollman.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Kimberly Brown-Whale officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Trinidad F. Paa, 87, of Owings Mills

Trinidad F. Paa, 87, of Owings Mills, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Shriver E. 'Jr.' Pickett, 77, of Union Bridge

Shriver Elliott "Jr." Pickett, 77, of Union Bridge, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at his home.

Born July 30, 1927, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Shriver and Fannie Elizabeth Haines Pickett. He was the husband of the late Constance Ann Morningstar Pickett.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Tank Corps. He was a past member of Terra Rubra Lions Club of Middleburg, Carroll Manor Fire Department and was a member of the Westminster Moose.

Surviving are children and spouses Shirley Singleton of Clinton, Mo., Brenda and Harry Barnett of Martinsburg, W.Va., Peggy and Bill Voss of Kilmarnock, Va., Larry and Beverly Pickett of Sykesville, Frances and Bill Brashears of Knoxville, Stephanie and Larry Barnhart of Littlestown, Pa., Victor and Lori Pickett of Chesapeake, Va., Cindy Rountrey of Union Bridge and Billy and Amy Pickett of Lake Charles, La.; grandchildren Jo-ann Ray, Kimmie Agnew, Christine McCracken, Gaye Evans, Jeannie Weedon, Tinslie Pickett, Victoria Pickett, Ashley Pickett, James Edwards, Tommy Edwards, James Rountrey, Michael Pickett, Jason Pickett, Harrison Pickett, Hunter Pickett, and Jack Henry Pickett; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; special friend Merle Collins; and companion Elvy Lawson.

He was predeceased by siblings Evelyn Pickett Hobbs, Herschel Pickett, Levi Pickett, Pearl Pickett Knauff, Walter "Roby" Pickett, Lawrence Pickett and Verley L. Pickett; nephew Pete Pickett; and niece Eunice Hobbs Pickett.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd., Winfield, with the Rev. Jim Rausey officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Beatrice B. Snyder, 82, of Reisterstown

Beatrice Betty Snyder, 82, of Reisterstown, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Services and interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

William J.R. 'Bill' Stewart, 76, of Westminster

William J.R. "Bill" Stewart, 76, of Westminster, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born Sept. 20, 1928, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late William and Bertha Myers Stewart. He was the husband of Betty Swartz Stewart, his wife of 57 years.

He was a self-employed contractor, builder and plumber in the Carroll County area. He was a member of St. Mary's United Church of Christ, Silver Run.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Pamela J. Bradsher of Westminster; sons Gary R. Stewart of Beltsville, William A. Stewart of York, Pa. and John A. Stewart of Westminster; eight grandchildren; sisters Shirley Dickinson of Westminster and Kathleen Jones of Manchester.

He was predeceased by sister Virginia Abbott.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, Pa., with the Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Silver Run.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Betty A. Taylor, 79, of Westminster

Betty Ann Taylor, 79, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Westminster Nursing and Convalescent Center.

Born April 1, 1925, in Greencastle, Donegal, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Jackson and Mae Jones. She was the wife of Robert M. Taylor Sr., to whom she was married 57 years.

She was a bakery clerk at Giant Food, retiring after 17 years of service. She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons and daughter-in-law Robert M. Jr. and Carolyn Taylor and Edward H. Taylor, all of Severna Park; daughter and son-in-law Bonnie L. and Gerald Bevard of Hampstead; and grandchildren Alison Taylor of Lutherville and Andrew Snyder of Grasonville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with her pastor, the Rev. David Highfield officiating. Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Wayne D. Crouse, 53, of Westminster

Wayne Douglas Crouse, 53, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, following a brief illness.

Born March 1, 1951, in Frederick, he was the son of the late G. Paul and Helen Carrie Lambert Crouse.

Surviving are sisters Thelma C. Reaver of New Windsor, Josephine C. Harner of Detour and Deanna C. Sell of Taneytown; brothers Byron E. Crouse of Taneytown and George H. Crouse of New Windsor; and 24 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 301 Church St., New Windsor, with the Rev. Fred Eckhardt, pastor emeritus of Grace Lutheran Church, Westminster, officiating.

Private inurnment services will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Uniontown, at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public visitation.

Albert Cutshaw Jr., 70, of Westminster

Albert Cutshaw Jr., 70, of Westminster, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Dec. 29, 1933, in Clearspring, he was the son of the late Albert Sr. and Nellie Robinson Cutshaw. He was the husband of L. Eileen Cutshaw, his wife of 50 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the Department of Defense, where he worked in quality control.

He enjoyed sports, children's sports events and playing pool. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie Post 2226, Littlestown, Pa.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Michael Lapoint of Marriottsville and Kelly and Doug Brown of Keymar; sisters Anna Mary Kenny of Front Royal, Va. and Rose Kaylor of Hagerstown; brother Richard Cutshaw of Clearspring; and grandchildren John and Kelly Lapoint and William and Emily Brown.

There will be no public visitation and interment will be private.

Evelyn T. Griswold, 90, of Westminster

Evelyn T. Griswold, 90, of Westminster, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2004, at Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born June 14, 1914, in Bel Alton, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mary Anna Jenkins Wenk. She was the wife of the late Robert Welch Sr. and the late William H. "Bill" Griswold.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law John and Virginia Welch of Bayside; sister Emily K. Boswell of Indian Head; and granddaughter and husband Mary Ann and Craig Reed of Dameron.

She was predeceased by son Robert Welch Jr.; and siblings Rose Campanella, Alice Jenkins, Gertrude Welch and John and James Wenk.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Baltimore National cemetery, 5501 Frederick Ave., Baltimore, with the Rev. John C. Morrill officiating.

There will be no public visitation.

Arrangements are by Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

Carroll E. Koontz, 63, of Gettysburg, Pa.

Carroll E. Koontz, 63, of Gettysburg, Pa., died Monday evening, Nov. 29, 2004, at Gettysburg Hospital.

Born July 2, 1941, in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Elwood and Grace Irene Overholtzer Koontz. He was the husband of Joanne E. Newcomer Koontz, his wife of 44 years.

He attended Taneytown High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired from Caterpillar of York after 31 years of service and had currently been the club manager of the Littlestown Eagles Aerie 2226.

He was a member of Littlestown Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2226 and Gettysburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1562, a life member of Taneytown American Legion Post 120, Fairfield Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association and Fairfield Amvets Post 172, a member of New Oxford Social and Athletic Club, a social member of Harney VFW Post 6918 and Gettysburg VFW Post 15, a member of Adams County Fish and Game Association, Orrtanna, Pa. and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Surviving are sons Christopher K. Koontz and Jonathan D. Koontz, both of Gettysburg; brothers Larry Koontz of Hope Mills, N.C. and Donald Koontz of Taneytown; sisters Barbara Six of Harney, Sylvia Gross of Taneytown and Judy Baer of Palm Coast, Fla.; one granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, Pa., with the Rev. Faye C. Snyder of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Harney, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924-N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.

Helen H. Lord, 107, of Westminster

Helen Hoffses Lord, 107, of Westminster, formerly of Baltimore, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Krug Chapel of Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster.
