J. Gordon Marriott, 86, of Sykesville
Jacob Gordon Marriott, 86, of Sykesville, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.
Born Feb. 11, 1918, in Baltimore County, he was the son of the late Jacob Albert and Nora Henritz Marriott. He was the husband of Virginia Wilson Marriott of Sykesville.
He was a veteran of World War II and had been a carpenter for many years.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. Eugene Alexander officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive cemetery, Randallstown.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth E. Stonesifer, 93, of Keymar
Ruth Evelyn Stonesifer, 93, of Keymar, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Country Companions, Taneytown.
Born Oct. 14, 1911, at Stoney Branch, Motters Station, she was the daughter of the late Emory Ernest and Annie Moser Valentine. She was the wife of Clarence R. Stonesifer, who died in 1994.
She was a member of Keysville Grace United Church of Christ, Keymar.
Surviving are sons Charles L. Stonesifer of Keymar and Clarence Ernest Stonesifer of Littlestown, Pa.; sister Gladys Keilholtz of Gettysburg, Pa.; brother Richard Valentine of Emmitsburg; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers Charles Valentine and Murray Valentine.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Keysville Grace United Church of Christ, 2049 Keysville-Bruceville Road, Keymar, with her pastor, the Rev. John Silassy officiating. Interment will be in Keysville Union cemetery, Keymar.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Charles A. Warner, 85, formerly of Westminster
Charles A. Warner, 85, of Ellenton, Fla., formerly of Westminster, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at his residence.
Born Dec. 8, 1919, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Uriah S. and Marie G. Nusbaum Warner. He was the husband of Geneva Gamber Warner, his wife of 54 years.
He was a 1935 graduate of Mount Airy High School and a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1980 from the U.S. Postal Service in Westminster.
He was a charter member of the Westminster Civitan Club, where he served as secretary, treasurer, president and lieutenant governor and retired from the club in 1975 with 25 years of perfect attendance. He was a member of American Legion Carroll Post 31,Westminster Elks Lodge and the Westminster United Methodist Church. He enjoyed carpentry work and playing cards.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Judy Rae Horner of Edgewater, Susan LaRue Selby of Jacksonville, Fla., Nancy Marie Warner of Clearwater, Fla., and Teena Louise Smith of Lake Wales, Fla.; sisters Clara Virginia Byers and Mary Jayne Dattilio, both of Westminster and Olive Warner of Reisterstown; brother Albert R. Warner of Independence, Ky.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Interment will be in Providence cemetery in Gamber.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Marguerite A. Watts, 83, of Reisterstown
Marguerite A. Watts, 83, of Reisterstown, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at her home.
Born Jan. 24, 1921, in Reisterstown, she was the daughter of Helen Wix and Robert Audrey Alexander. She was the wife of the late Philip L. Watts Sr. and Holman C. Schoenberger.
She was a 50-year honorary member of the Women's Club of Glyndon, having been a member since 1953, a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church, a member of the Lioness Club of Reisterstown, where she was treasurer for 13 years, and a member of the Ladies of Westminster Elks, the Garden Club of Pikesville and the Democratic Club 4th District.
She had been a legal secretary.
Surviving are son Philip L. Watts Jr. of Union Bridge; grandchildren Jennifer L. Bowman and Philip L. Watts III, both of Union Bridge and Debra Marroquin; great-grandson River L. Bowman; and nephew Rhody A. Bosley of Reisterstown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, Reisterstown, with the Rev. David A. Stenner officiating. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery, Reisterstown.

Eleanor M. Weaver, 76, of Hanover, Pa.
Eleanor M. Weaver, 76, of Hanover, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Hanover Hospital.
Born May 25, 1928, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Roswell J. and Catherine E. Frey Weaver.
She was a 1946 graduate of Eichelberger Senior High School and the class historian. She retired from Thoman's Wallcovering Store after 52 years of service as a clerk and bookkeeper.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, the Altar Rosary Society; the National AARP, as well as the local Chapter 1842.
Surviving are brother Robert C. Weaver of Hanover; nephew David North; and adoptive family Glenn, Karen, Nick and Morgan Monroe.
She was predeceased by brother Richard M. Weaver; and sisters Frances E. Johnson, Helen E. North and Mary C. Weaver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, with the Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Church cemetery, Hanover.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Janice M. Abell, 64, of Westminster
Janice Mary Abell, 64, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at her home from an extended illness.
Born April 10, 1940, in New Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Ethel Strine Knauff. She was the wife of Francis C. "John" Abell of Westminster, whom she married
in 1971.
She was a retired nurse with the Maryland Department of Mental Hygiene. She was a member of Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed the flowers around her home and the outdoors.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter Sandra Cherney of Westminster; stepdaughters Judy Ledford and Susan Abell, both of North Carolina; stepson John Abell of Hanover, Pa.; sister Judy Bowlin of Sykesville; six stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home & Monument Co., 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Paul Leatherman, officiating. Interment will be in Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren cemetery at a later date.
Friends will be received today from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Valeria Blessing, 84, of Hampstead
Valeria Blessing, 84, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Lorien Nursing Home, Taneytown.
Born May 19, 1920, in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Rhoten. She was the wife of the late William Thompson and the late William Blessing.
She worked on the assembly line at Black & Decker.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Janet Hoffman of Hampstead, Judy and Bruce Conway of Bel Air and Bonnie and Bill Kern of Westminster; brother Kenneth Rhoten of Hampstead; sisters Gertrude Carr of Hampstead and Elizabeth Small of Florida; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by son James Lee Thompson; sister Kathryn Boerner; and brothers Donald and Earl Rhoten.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Robert R. Rock officiating. Interment will be in Grace United Methodist cemetery, Upperco.

C. Robert Durboraw, 83, formerly of Manchester
Charles Robert "Bob" Durboraw, 83, formerly of Manchester, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2004, at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, N.J.
Born June 20, 1921, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Thomas Mills and Mary McMichael Durboraw. His wife, Lillian Stowe Durboraw, predeceased him on Oct. 25, 2004.
He was a 1939 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, Pa., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre during World War II. He then worked for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1979 after 33 years with the company. While living in New Jersey, he served as mayor of Cinnaminson Township in 1959 and on the town committee from 1955 to 1959.
He was a member and former president and trustee of the Cinnaminson Fire Co. 2, was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 156 in Cinnaminson, was past president of Kiwanis Club of Palmyra, N.J., and was a former member of the Cinnaminson Democratic Club. He was also a member of the Hampstead American Legion Post 200, Telephone Pioneers of America and "Putts'n Such" Golf League.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Stephen Durboraw of Mount Laurel, N.J. and Richard and Judy Durboraw of Hainesport, N.J.; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law Todd and Patti Durboraw, Chad and Jennifer Durboraw and Jamie "Jimmy" and Jennifer Durboraw, all of New Jersey, and Justin and the Rev. Anne Durboraw of Westminster; great-grandchildren Lauren, Lindsey, Anna, Jadelynn, Vanessa and Glenn Durboraw; and nieces and nephews Linda Irwin of Coatesville, Pa., Margie Winton of Colorado, Ned Strite of Greencastle, Pa., and Thomas Strite of Gaithersburg.
He was predeceased by brother Thomas Durboraw; sister Nancy Strite; and daughter-in-law Carol Durboraw.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Perinchief Chapels, Mount Holly, N.J., with his granddaughter-in-law, the Rev. Anne C. Durboraw, and the Rev. William J. Gohl Jr. officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, N.J.
A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday from the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. John C. Morrill officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.

Doris E. Fringer, 76, of Westminster
Doris E. Johnson Fringer, 76, of Westminster, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center.
Born Oct. 18, 1928, in Olney, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Eva Yowell Johnson. She was raised in Westminster by the late Ralph and Virginia Mitten. She was the wife of George Fringer, whom she married
Feb. 14, 1995.
Before retiring, she was a nurse in Baltimore. She did general house cleaning, mostly for Andy Shaw, and also worked as a dishwasher at the former Angelo's Restaurant. She was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with her pastor, the Rev. Ron Fisher, officiating. Interment will be in Westminster cemetery.

Scott G. Hill, 40, of Taneytown
Scott Gordon Hill, 40, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at his home.
Born Sept. 19, 1964, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Theodore Vincent Sr. and Martha Hill of Gettysburg, Pa.
He graduated in 1982 from Gettysburg High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1983 to 1987 in the 21st Armored Calvary Division. After his service, he worked as a supervisor at Little Tykes Toy Factory before starting his own landscaping business, H & H Services, in Taneytown.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are sons Jordan and Alexander Hill; stepson Justin Brown; sisters Coreen Shelton, Regina Hill and Kim Riley, all of Gettysburg, and Pam Connolly of Florida; brothers Theodore Hill Jr. of Bethlehem, Pa., and Craig Hill of Gettysburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the cemetery of St. Joseph's Church, 44 Frederick St.,Taneytown, with the Rev. Martin E. Feild officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.

Thelma M. Howard, 70, of Westminster
Thelma Melzina Howard, 70, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Ethel Mae Smith Howard.
She was a 1953 graduate of Robert Moton High School, Westminster. She was an active member of Strawbridge United Methodist Church, New Windsor, where she served on the usher board and was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.
She was formerly employed as the cafeteria manager at Robert Moton School, Hahn's Meats of Westminster, Black & Decker of Hampstead and Brethren Service Center of New Windsor. She was a daycare provider and worked as a nurse in private home care, retiring in 1999.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, scratch-offs, bingo, crossword puzzles and watching television game shows and cooking shows.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Kathy "Mitch" and Larry Brumfield, Lou Ann and David Bowins and Tina Cross, all of Westminster; grandchildren Wesley A. Howard, Stephen M. Howard, David T. Bowins Jr., Jazzmin M. Cross, Rachel L. Brumfield, Erin M. Blake and Colin M. Brumfield; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law George Tucker Sr.; niece Terri Dotson; nephew George L. Tucker Jr.; three great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
She was predeceased by sister Shirley H. Tucker in 1997.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Strawbridge United Methodist Church, with Ambassador Blango Ross Jr., her pastor, and the Rev. Ernest E. Smith, Baptist pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. James cemetery, New Windsor.
