HAROLD E. WILLIAMS
Harold E. Williams, 68, Loch Lynn, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at his home.
Born Jan. 7, 1935, in Edinburgh, Va., he was a son of the late Quiller M. and Elva M. (Wolford) Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Davis) Williams, in 2001; and one brother, Edward Williams.
He was a maintenance mechanic for the Central Soya Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Proctor Kildow Post #71, American Legion, Oakland, and the Deer Park Sportsman's Club.
He is survived by three daughters, Sandra L. Williams, Deer Park, Carol J. Stewart, Baltimore, and Margaret Orr, Champlain, Minn.; one son, Gary W. Terry, Baltimore; one brother, James S. Williams, Strasburg, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the temporary home of the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.
At his request, his body was cremated, and there were no services.
JAYDEN W. MILLER
Jayden Wayne Miller, 4-day-old son of Samantha Jo Flanagan and Jamie Miller, Grantsville, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born Oct. 26, 2003. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Tim and Deanna Durst, Grantsville, and Evaline Miller, and Rodney and Connie Miller, all of Meyersdale, Pa.; maternal great-grandparents, Carl and Ruby Flanagan, Grantsville; paternal great-grandmothers, Rose Ohler, Meyersdale, and Shelva Miller, Berlin, Pa.; maternal great-great-grandmother, Bessie Wilt, Grantsville; and paternal great-great-grandmothers, Pauline Ohler, Meyersdale, and Ruth Hillegass, Berlin, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 2 to 3 p.m.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Middleton officiating.
Interment will be in Union cemetery, Meyersdale.
ELIZABETH C. BARCASE
Elizabeth C. "Betty" Barcase, 74, of Moran Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Westernport, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Nov. 28, 1928, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Clarendon and Anna Pearl (Stuby) Davis.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport. She was a 1946 graduate of Bruce High School, and a graduate of the Catherman Business School. She retired from Westvaco Corp. in 1993, with 43 years of service.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Gregory Barcase; two sons, Gregory Barcase of Lusby, and Jeffrey Barcase, Westernport; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, today, Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport, on Friday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.
Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, Westernport.
JUDITH A. YODER
Judith Ann Yoder, 65, of Springs, Pa., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, Pa.
Born Aug. 2, 1938, in St. Paul, she was a daughter of the late Jack D. and Grace (Bodes) Pyle.
She was a member of Springs Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school, and was church librarian for more than 20 years. She previously taught Sunday school at St. John's United Church of Christ in Salisbury, Pa., and was a member of the Springs Historical Society. She was the book department manager and buyer for Yoder's Country Market, Grantsville, and also operated a book shop from her home.
Surviving are her husband, Richard I. Yoder; one son, Andrew R., Waynesboro, Pa.; one daughter, Angela S. Piwonka, Quincy, Ill.; two sisters, Karen Anderson, Tappahannock, Va., and Jackie Wulliez, Fredericksburg, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Springs Mennonite Church on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Heatwole officiating.
The Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either the American Cancer Society or Springs Mennonite Church Library.
MEGAN N. GOFORTH
Megan Nicole Goforth, 12, daughter of Danny and Linda Goforth, Mtn. Lake Park, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born Oct. 17, 1991, in Hampton, Va. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bobby Goforth, and paternal grandparents, Coy and Ethel Arnold.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Georgia Goforth, Hickory, N.C., and the following aunts, uncles and cousins, Cynthia, Charles, and Andrew Irby, Rhodhiss, N.C., Felicia, Neal Sr., Neal Jr., Heather and Leigha Hildebran, Connelly Springs, N.C., Melisa, Steve and Matthew Marculewicz, Hickory, N.C., Marvin and Helen Arnold, and Adam and Natalie Wehunt, Claremont, N.C., Janet, Mike, Brandon and Tracy Good, Claremont, N.C., Gary, Heather, Briteny and Kaitlin Whitener, Hickory, N.C., and Cathy, George and Erin Terry, Newton, N.C.
Friends and family were received at the Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, Wednesday, Nov. 26, with the funeral following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiated.
Interment was in the church cemetery.

AMOS C. GARBER
Amos C. Garber, 66, Rosebush, Mich., formerly of Garrett County, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at his home.
He is survived by his wife Katie and six children.
Friends will be received at the residence of Lovina Swarey, 3223 E. Rosebush Road, Rosebush, Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
A service will take place on Thursday at the Swarey residence.
The Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home assisted in the arrangements.
THOMAS W. HERBERT
Thomas W. Herbert, 87, Swanton, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Feb. 14, 1916, in St. Mary's County, he was the son of the late Mitchell and Inez Herbert. He was also preceded in death by one son, Douglas Herbert.
He is survived by two sons, Carl E. Herbert, Montgomery Village, and Terry W. Herbert, Chesapeake, Va.; one sister, Dorothy Reed, Hyattsville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private viewing was held at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.
A private funeral service was held at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 26, with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment was in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
JAMES C. MERRITT
James Caswell Merritt, 51, Parkton, died Friday, May 28, 2004, of cardiac arrest while waterskiing on Deep Creek Lake.
He was born and reared in Texas.
He graduated in 1974 from the University of California, Davis, with a degree in agricultural economics and joined Dow Chemical Co. After working for Dow in California and Grand Rapids, Mich., he took a job in the sales department of McCormick & Co. in 1982. He started out in Claremont, Calif., before being transferred in 1992 to Baltimore, where he worked in marketing.
At the time of his death, he was a vice president of business development for the McCormick & Co. Inc. spice company.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Martha "Marti" Pelkey Merritt; two children, Jeff and Lesley, both of Parkton; his father and stepmother, John and Verna Merritt, Las Cruces, N.M.; three brothers, John Merritt Jr., San Antonio, Texas, Robert Merritt, Covington, La., and Scott Merritt, Fort Worth, Texas; and three sisters, Charlotte Campbell, Tulsa, Okla., Karen Kahler, Fort Worth, Texas, and Sharon Currie, Odessa, Texas.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 1, at Brown Memorial Woodbrook Presbyterian Church in Baltimore County.

DONALD P. CARUTHERS
Donald Paul Caruthers, 62, Springs, Pa., died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at his residence.
Born Nov. 3, 1941, in Lancaster, Pa., he was a son of the late Elvin P. and Edith Mae (Beitzel) Caruthers.
He was retired from Penn Alps Restaurant, Grantsville. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God, Grantsville.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Jean (Bittinger) Caruthers; three sons, Derrick Paul Caruthers, Dover, Del., Robert James Caruthers, Kansas City, Mo., and Jason Steven Caruthers, at home; one daughter, Jeannette Suzanne Caruthers, Springs; two brothers, Jack M. Caruthers, Grantsville, and David K. Caruthers, Oakland; and two sisters, Sharon Lohr, Swanton, and Catherine Williams, Accident.
A memorial service was conducted on Monday, June 7, at Maranatha Assembly of God, with the Rev. William Ferguson officiating.

CARL W. RIGGLEMAN SR.
Carl Wellington Riggleman Sr., 74, Cumberland, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his home.
Born March 6, 1930, in Garrett County, he was the son of the late John H. Riggleman and Eva Elizabeth (Sherman) Riggleman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Una (Robertson) Riggleman, Oct. 28, 1982; and one son, Carl W. Riggleman Jr., July 28, 2003.
He was a former employee of the Queen City Dairy and served in the Army National Guard.
He is survived by one daughter, Cindy S. Cook, Fairhope, Pa.; three brothers, Joe Riggleman, LaVale, Merle Riggleman, Winchester, Va., and Wayne Riggleman, Ellerslie; four sisters, Dixie Rhodes, Baltimore, Millie Roach, Cumberland, Thelma Frisk, Minnesota, and Nancy Robinette, Connecticut; and one grandson.
Friends were received a the Adams Family Funeral Home, Cumberland, where a service was held on Saturday, June 5, with Pastor Thomas Landaker officiating.
Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park.
JOHNATHON R. WILLIAMS
Johnathon Ray Williams, 44, Eglon, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 28, 1959, in Baltimore, he was a son of Richard Williams, Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., and Laura Stevens, Dallas, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Alexander) Williams; one son, Johnathon (J. Ray) Williams, Friendsville; one stepson, Shad Green, Aurora, W.Va.; two brothers, Richard Marteney, Oakland, and Bobby Stevens, Columbus, Ohio; eight sisters, Sandra Kohls, Regina Banks, and Charlescina Johnson, all of Dallas, Christine Limberick and Christal Drake, both of Fairmont, W.Va., and Rachel Williams and Rebecca Williams, both of Horse Shoe Run; and one step-grandchild.
At his request, his body was cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

LANE M. COMBS
Lane Matthew Combs, infant son of Matthew and Christine (Rounds) Combs, Frostburg, died at birth Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his twin brother, Dalton Edward Combs; two half sisters, Ciara Combs and Cenoa Combs, both of Frostburg; maternal grandparents, Allen and Cheryl Wilhelm, Avilton, and Dale E. Rounds, Grantsville; paternal grandparents, Beverly Lowery, Frostburg, and Paul and Linda Combs, Cresaptown; and maternal great-grandmother, Rosella Yoder, Springs, Pa.
A private service was held on Saturday, June 5, with burial in Grantsville cemetery.

STANLEY W. DeWITT SR.
Stanley W. DeWitt Sr., 85, Oakland, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Aug. 12, 1918, in Benbush, W.Va., he was a son of the late John W. and E. Viola (Ashby) DeWitt. He was also preceded in death by one son, C. Edward DeWitt; two sisters, Peggy L. McCartney and E. Loretta Sines; and one brother, Harold DeWitt.
He was a member of the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church. He was a retired coal miner and heavy equipment operator and worked on the construction of Interstate 68, VEPCO Power Station, and the Jennings Randolph Lake. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Oakland Chapter AARP. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army for a short time. He was a former president of the Crellin Improvement Association.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty L.(Rodeheaver) DeWitt; two daughters, Nancy C. Savage, Oakland, and Judy A. Gillespie, Bakerstown; five sons, Terry L. DeWitt, Oakland, Stanley W. DeWitt Jr., Deer Park, Darrell DeWitt, Dallastown, and D. Richard "Rick" DeWitt and Michael A. DeWitt, both of Oakland; three sisters, Marie E. Skipper, Oakland, Wanda C. Steiding, Hagerstown, and Betty L. Martin, Oakland; two brothers, Clifford C. DeWitt and J. Robert DeWitt, both of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral home, Oakland.
A service was conducted at the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church on Tuesday, June 8, with the Rev. Edsel Calhoun and the Rev. Bruce Craig officiating.
Interment was in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans' organizations in southern Garrett County.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Frederick County, 1730 North Market St., Frederick, MD 21701; the American Diabetes Association; or to the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church.
