NANCY L. GAY
Nancy Louise Gay, 57, Accident, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Aug. 22, 1951, in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late John William and Mary Elizabeth (Conaway) Gay. She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Lloyd Gay; and one sister, Melva (Gay) Steyer Cator.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, John D. Gay, Mtn. Lake Park; two brothers, Roy E. Gay, Enterprise, W.Va., and Joseph D. Gay, Bayard, W.Va.; and one granddaughter.
Friends were received at Newman Funeral Home, Oakland.
A service was conducted at Bayard Church of God on Friday, Jan. 2, with Rev. William McCallister and Rev. Larry G. Wallbrown officiating.
Interment was held in Bayard cemetery, Bayard.
RONALD E. NAZELROD SR.
Ronald E. Nazelrod Sr., 80, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at home.
Born Aug. 30, 1928, at Deep Creek Lake, he was a son of the late John W. and Ellen Self Nazelrod. He was also preceded in death by one son, John W. Nazelrod; four sisters; and eight brothers.
He was Methodist by faith.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict during the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. He received two Silver Stars, one Bronze Star, a Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster, and numerous other medals and awards. He was wounded twice during his term of duty.
He also owned and operated Nazelrod Excavating for 21 years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Everly Nazelrod; two sons, Ronald E. Nazelrod Jr. and Wesley D. Nazelrod, both of Terra Alta; one sister, Aimee Shaffer, Linwood, S.C.; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends were received at Arthur H. Right Funeral Home, Terra Alta, where a service was conducted on Saturday Jan. 3, with Pastor Neil Parsons officiating.
Burial followed in Terra Alta cemetery, where military graveside services were conducted by Preston County VFW posts and the West Virginia Honor Guard.

WILMA BAKER
Wilma Baker, 71, Oakland, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at her residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1937, in Turner Douglas, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Lucy Alice (Bowman) Murphy. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Murphy and James Murphy; and one sister, Susie Powell.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Baker, Oakland; three sons, Rich Baker, Dave Baker, Jeff Baker, all of Oakland; three daughters, Penny Moats, Gettysburg, Pa., Judy James, Denton, Texas, and Ann Dalton, Terra Alta, W.Va.; two brothers, Harley Murphy and Allen Murphy, both of Oakland; four sisters, Nellie Poland and Carrie Benson, both of Oakland, and Helen Wetzel and Dolly Moats, both of Terra Alta; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 3, with the Rev. Pete Miller officiating.
Interment followed in Garrett Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
WILLIAM A. BRAITHWAITE
William Arthur Braithwaite, 65, Swanton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at his residence.
Born Sept. 14, 1943, in Westernport, he was a son of the late Arthur T. and Alma L. (Smith) Braithwaite. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Judy Mayhew; and two brothers, Donnie Braithwaite and infant James Braithwaite.
Mr. Braithwaite formerly worked for Tri-State Memorial Company, Piedmont, W.Va., for 20 years. He eventually worked for and retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric, Baltimore.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Kisner) Braithwaite, two sons, William A. Braithwaite Jr. and wife Nannette, Oakland, and Brian K. Braithwaite and girlfriend Cathy Gamber, Martinsburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Donna S. McKenzie and husband Steve, Keyser, W.Va.; two stepsons, Paul and Gary McKenzie; one stepdaughter, Annie Moses and husband Terry, Frostburg; two brothers, Robert Braithwaite and wife Gloria, Westernport, and John Braithwaite and wife Carolyn, Westernport; two sisters, Betty Clark, Westernport, and Carol Wilson, Savage River; five grandchildren, Michael Davis, Clinton Davis, Christopher Davis, Jamie Braithwaite, and Lindsey Braithwaite; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Shumaker, Paula Cheshire, and Kari Moses; two great-grandchildren; and seven step-greatgrandchildren.
At Mr. Braithwaite’s request, his body was cremated.
There was no visitation or service.
Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, was in charge of arrangements.
PAULINE N. CHAPMAN
Pauline N. Chapman, 93, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at WMHS Braddock Campus.
Born Dec. 23, 1915, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late Claude W. and Daisy B. (Lewis) Wagner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George T. Chapman, on Jan. 5, 1997; four brothers, Robert D. Wagner, Claude W. Wagner Jr., Edward J. Wagner, and Nile E. Wagner; and one sister, Nellie C. Evans.
She was a retired bookkeeper from the Schwab Company after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the church sodality.
She is survived by three brothers, Daniel W. Wagner, McHenry, James A. Wagner, Bittinger, and Donald D. Wagner, York, S.C.; and three sisters, Carrie O. Platt, Cumberland, Margaret E. Edgar, Oakland, and JoAnne Breneman, Canton, Ga.
Friends were received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 5, with Fr. Ty S. Hullinger as celebrant.
Interment was held in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
CAROL J. STEWART
Carol June Stewart, 68, Kitzmiller, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 27, 1940, in Keyser, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William and Gladys "Beeman" Tanner. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bobby Stewart.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Stewart, Kitzmiller; two sons, Gerald and George Stewart, both of Kitzmiller; one daughter, Wendy Moon, Oakland; and one sister, Patty Davis, Keyser.
Friends were received at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 6, with the Rev. Donald F. Marple officiating.
Interment was held in IOOF cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
DWIGHT L. BARNHOUSE SR.
Dwight Lewis Barnhouse Sr., 72, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at his home in Elk Ridge.
Born Sept. 26, 1936, he was the youngest son of the late Nora and Roy Barnhouse, formerly of Kitzmiller. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Moreland and Leroy Barnhouse; and three sisters, Dorathy Nine, Hazel Sharpless, and Polly Wilson Hagedorn.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Neubauer Barnhouse; three devoted children, Linda Biniak and husband Richard, Dwight Jr. and wife Ann, and Gina Moore and husband John; grandchildren MacGyver and Sydney Biniak, Amy, Kristen, Julie, Mark, and Jeffrey Barnhouse, and Jackson and Bryce Moore; his special brother, Joseph "Buster" Barnhouse and wife Gloria; and his dear sisters, Frances Cage and Jean Marcuson and husband Fred.
A service was conducted at Kauffman Funeral Home, Elk Ridge.
Interment was held at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
Dwight will be greatly and sadly missed by his family and many friends. He left a little slice of heaven with everyone just by being here on God's earth.
LORETTA M. STARK
Loretta Mae Stark, 83, Keyser, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Vindex, she was a daughter of the late Virgie Nelson.
She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Stark, Keyser; one brother, Dempsey Nelson, Vindex; one sister, Lavona Felda, Cumberland; three sons, Paul E. "Chip" Stark, Wellsville, N.Y., Tom A. Stark, Keyser, and Boyd D. Stark, at home; five daughters, Linda M. Didawick, Levels, W.Va., Olive L. "Augie" Stanford, Danville, Pa., Dolly D. Foster, The Villages, Fla., and Eva K. "Kitty" Tasker and Goldie S. "Susie" Eversole, both of Keyser; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private viewing and funeral service were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 7, at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller.
Private interment followed in Mt. Zion cemetery.
DONNA M. LaROQUE
Donna Marie LaRoque, 58, Grantsville, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at WMHS Braddock Campus, Cumberland.
Born May 6, 1950, in Turtle Creek Reservation, Wyo., she was a daughter of the late Oliver Dorsey and Clara Lucinda (Aaragon) LaRoque. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Kay.
Ms. LaRoque was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the Salisbury VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her former husband, Rickey D. McKenzie; two sons, Tommy Lee, Orlando, Fla., and Jeremy David, Frostburg; two daughters, Brenda Ann, Iron Mountain, Mich., and Crystal Marie, Layton, Utah; five brothers, Larry, Oliver, Bobby, Tommy, and Philip; two sisters, Olivia and Delores; nine grandchildren, Shatawna, Dakota, Joshua, Kayla, Hayden, Kenneth, Esther, Dylan, and Lucas; and one great-granddaughter, Angel.
Friends were received at Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted today, Thursday, Jan. 8.
Interment was held in St. Ann’s cemetery.

MARGUERITE A. PARRISH
Marguerite Alena Parrish, 82, passed away on Jan. 4, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1926, in Rowlesburg, W.Va.
She was the cherished wife of Lloyd A. Parrish; and the much loved and loving mother of Carolyn, Susan, and Michael. She was the adored grandmother of Kristie, Lisa, Cassie, and Christopher, and she was delighted with her great-granddaughter, Maya Ann.
She is also survived by her brothers, Walter, Melvin, John, and Joe; and her sisters, Dorothy and Annie Marie.
Her gentleness, strength, patience, courage, and love enriched our lives.
A viewing was conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Wing Mortuary, Lehi, Utah, with a graveside service held at Lehi City cemetery.

WESLEY E. LASHBAUGH
Wesley E. "Wes" Lashbaugh, 67, Frostburg, died Jan. 4, 2009, at WMHS Braddock Campus following a bout of cancer.
Born April 7, 1941, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late William F. Lashbaugh Sr. and Mary A. (Sweene) Lashbaugh. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William F. Lashbaugh Jr.
He was a 1959 graduate of Beall High School. He retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. when it closed in 1986. He also retired from Grantsville Performance (Carquest) in 2008. He served in Co. B, 121st Army National Guard as a sergeant.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, National Pike.
He also coached the Grantsville Lions Little League.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gladys (McKenzie) Lashbaugh; one son, David S. Lashbaugh, Mt. Savage; one daughter, Tina L. McKenzie, Finzel; two grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Stevenson, Glen Rock, Pa.
At his request, his body was cremated.
Friends will be received at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Frostburg, on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, at which time a memorial service will be conducted, with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating.
The cremains will be buried in the parish cemetery.
A luncheon will be held at the church following the service.
